'Seaward' is situated near the harbour in Kilmore Quay, a pretty, unspoilt, fishing village in south-east Ireland. The south-facing property is on an elevated site has sea views from almost all rooms. 'Seaward' is within 3-5 mins walking distance of all village amenities including harbour/ marina, beaches, restaurants and shops. So park you car, put away the keys and walk for the duration of your stay! Kilmore Quay is famous for it's thatched cottages, fishing, seafood, sailing, and scuba-diving and is the gateway to the world famous Saltee Islands. The village is ten miles from Rosslare Ferryport and within easy driving distance of county towns Wexford, Enniscorthy and New Ross. County Wexford is full of historic sites, beauty spots and many excellent golf courses and beaches.

About the Owner

Although I now live elsewhere, I grew up in Kilmore Quay and built 'Seaward' in 2001 so that I will always have a place there.

I've loved the out of doors since spending my childhood swimming on local beaches and fishing off the local coast and beaches with my Dad. Our harbour now boasts a small marina, but thankfully very little else has changed over the intervening years.

Kilmore Quay is as unspoilt as ever. It's a wonderful little seaside village, famous for thatched cottages, fishing, seafood, sunshine, swimming, sailing and scuba diving!

'Seaward' is in it's own grounds, five minutes walk from the harbour and two beaches, four minutes from two shops. Two excellent seafood restaurants are about five minutes walk away, with a great local gastro pub a few minutes more!

I built 'Seaward' in 2001 so that I would always have a home near to the sea. I wanted my house to be bright and have a feeling of space and I'm happy both have been achieved. It's a great place to get away from it all, summer or winter! Because Kilmore Quay is situated in a micro-climate, in summer it get more sunshine than many neighbouring areas and often there is a seamless transition from blue sea to blue sky. On the other hand, in winter, the sea exhibits all of it's wild power and beauty. Despite it's village atmosphere, Kilmore Quay is only twenty-five minutes from Wexford town with it's characteristic narrow streets. This historic town is also home to the world famous Festival Opera every autumn. The village is near to Hook Head and the many lovely beaches of south Wexford.

Coast/Beach:

'Seaward' is less than ten minutes walking distance from two beaches.

The first, smaller beach is located beside the harbour/marina. It is sheltered with a flat surface so great for small children. When the tide is out, the many rock pools provide wonderful crab fishing opportunities! Our other beach, The Burrow, is >5 km long! Looking out at the Saltee Islands, the beach & it's sand dunes are wonderful places to walk. Being south-facing, it's coarse sand gets really hot at times. Wonderful!

Travel:

Kimore Quay is approximately 20km/12 miles from Rosslare Harbour and 150km/ 95 miles from Dun Laoghaire Ferryports (respectively). It is approximately 190km/120 miles (approx) from Dublin Airport and 80km/50 miles from Waterford Regional Airport. (Car hire available at all of the above.)

Wexford Town: 14 miles. Enniscorthy/ Vinegar Hill: 23 miles. New Ross/ Dunbrody Famine Ship: Hook Head. Waterford City. Kilkenny City.

Further Details:

The village has two small markets both of which also provide take out food products including seafood rolls as well as homemade cakes, etc. Large supermarkets are in nearby Wexford, Duncormick & Rosslare.

Two local restaurants specialising in fresh fish and small hotel .Fish and chip shop at the harbour. A local butcher sells fresh meat on four days/week

Fresh fish on sale at two outlets in the village.

The balance is payable 6 weeks prior to arrival date. You can pay by Euro cheque, bank transfer, or Euro draft. Please note that a refundable damage deposit of 100 euros (cash) is payable upon arrival.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday. May be flexible depending upon other bookings. Arrival time, Day 1 3.00pm, departure time, final day 11.00am.

As 'Seaward' is located within the village, just park your car and put away the keys for the duration of your stay! You can walk everywhere, whether to the beaches, sand dunes (great for long walks), shops, pub, or church. There is a also regular bus service to Wexford town for those who really don't want to start their car?! The property has a very large enclosed lawn which is an ideal place for children or pets to play as it's approx. one hundred yards from the public road. As the site is slightly elevated and is less two hundred yards from the water, 'Seaward' has sea views from almost all rooms. The extensive outdoor space with it's south-facing aspect make this property a great place to spend long, lazy summer days if you want a break from sailing, swimming, fishing or scuba diving.

The large lawn is eminently suitable for children to run and play. The patio outside the kitchen is south-facing so collects the sun from early morning to late afternoon. There is a garden table and chairs for al fresco dining while you watch the sparkling sea! Utility Room: Under-stairs storage area for sweeping brushes, hoover, ironing board, etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen is provided but not changed during rental periods. However, this can be arranged at small additional cost. Personal towels are not provided. Property is cleaned prior to/ post rental periods. New 2012 rates include waste disposal costs. Other: Spacious entrance hall at back door. Suitable for storing coats, shoes, fishing and golfing equipment. WC off this area.
