This lovely house has all the facilities of a typical villa with the enormous advantage of being located in the centre of this enchanting small town, most villas are located way outside of any towns. The town house is a Perfect base to explore, if you don't feel comfortable don't hire a car, you're only a short cab ride to Sitges with it's main line train station, buses run direct to Sitges, Vilanova and Barcelona (not worth the stress parking and driving) from St Pere It's a practical and well-distributed town house, rebuilt in the original style of the Spanish town house, behind an old facade. Experience how it is to really live in Spain,St Pere is a real Catalan town with lots of local shops, restaurants and characters. If you want a more touristy town we are just 10 mins from Sitges, where you can find fantastic beaches, boutique shops and fine dining or better still, Vilanova. Back in St Pere you can walk to shops, local supermarkets, bakers, bus stop and typical local restaurants. A market is held every Friday. There is a local town plaza with Ice cream shop and bars where you can sit in the sun or shade whilst the children play. The square is closed to traffic from June.

In 2000 my husband announced he wanted to give up work, sell up and change our lifestyle. He had worked for 20 years in direct marketing and we lived in the Cotswolds, he had always said that he spent all his spare time mowing the lawn. So we sold up and moved with our 2 children aged 8 and 12 to St Pere de Ribes. We were told in a local campsite the year before if we wanted real Spain or Catalonia we should look at St Pere. We drove in past the old casino and over the hill passing the castle and into the square and I knew this was where I wanted to live. Firstly we bought in the hills outside the town where many ex pats live however we soon realised that it is very isolated and we became taxi drivers for our children. We wanted to live in Spain but definitely not in the ex pat community.

Why Julie Ann Plank chose Sitges - Garraf

So 10 years ago we sold our villa and bought my dream house. Calle del Pi is one of the oldest streets in the town and where I always wanted to live. A house with an ordinary facade but people always go wow when they come in. We are very lucky to have a fantastic garden and pool, very rare for town centre houses. Here in St Pere our children walked into the local town, played in the plaza, learnt Spanish by buying ice creams and playing with the local children. We even spent the first years taking our empty water bottles to the local wine shops where they fill them with local red, white or sweet wine for a few euros. You can even go to the vineyard at the top of Calle del Pi. We love to sit in the square in the evening enjoying tapas and a cold beer. We can truly say we have built a life.

What makes this house unique

We shop in local shops, eat locally grown vegetables/eggs and are told about the meat we are eating and most importantly the wine we are drinking. St Pere is a very friendly Spanish market town.The main advantage this property has is that it is in the centre of town. Many villas offered are spotted in "housing estates" in the hills around the area.However you could be staying anywhere and many have few/no local amenities.You can't live in a view.There's something magical about walking down to the square for your morning cafe con leche and picking up freshly baked bread not awful pan ingles (English bread) sold in the supermarket. However you can still get English/international newspapers in the village (newsagent by the bus stop). You do need some home comforts.

We stayed at Casaplanka for one beautiful week in 2011, and cannot fault either the house or the delightful town it is located.  The kitchen is a cook's delight, well stocked with pots and pans aplenty.   Bedrooms and bathrooms equally as fabulous.  Our biggest decision of the whole week was which sunny terrace to use.  The pool area is spacious and ideal for relaxing and sunbathing with cool shady areas if required, a further terrace off the master bedroom was ideal for morning coffee.   We would not hesitate to recommend this property hence we have a repeat booking for this year. Typical Spanish Village House

We had a lovely stay in this fine three floor typical Spanish house, lovely bright top floor bedroom, ensuite and patio. Excellent location in the village, plenty of places within walking distance to eat or drink. Our favourite Casa Vinyet which during our stay was only open for lunch, Menu del Dia at €12.00, daily and on Saturday €16.00 you just could not better the food, menu only in Catalan but the sons can translate. Good choice of shops for self catering, dancing in the centre Friday nights. Basic knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage but not essential. Local buses into Stiges on a regular basis and The Mon Bus to and from the Airport T1, free bus transfer to T2. You do not need a car unless you want to go further afield, we managed fine without. Small Pool was a bonus on hot afternoons.

We stayed at the property for a week in August and had a really relaxing and lovely time. The property is superbly equipped, there was 5 of us and there was ample room. The owners have gone to every effort to make sure everything has been thought of. They provided both bath towels and beach towels, the kitchen was well stocked with condiments and everything was immaculate. The information folder is very good with plenty of tips of where to go and how to get around and where to shop. I loved the fact there is a very private sun terrace with sun loungers just off the very sumptuous master bedroom, great place to escape to with a book! The outside pool and patio are just delightful. We fell in love with St Pere, Sitges and Vilanova which has the most amazing beach and would love to return. I would highly recommend the property and its location.

Gorgeous house

We had such a wonderful family holiday in this beautiful, traditional, Spanish house. The property was delightfully quirky, clean and had everything we needed to facilitate our stay. The pool was a welcome relief from the hot Mediterranean sun and the kids had great fun playing in it whilst cooling off. Julie was really helpful with directions, coupons for attractions and even giving patient, step-by-step instructions by text, to access the British TV films and shows on their TV. I have no hesitation to recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit the Sitges area and hope that you have a holiday as good as ours.

A Wonderful Family Location

We decided to stay in Julie and David's house because we wanted a place big enough to accommodate our family in a location close to Sitges but with an opportunity to retreat from the business of Sitges in August. This was the perfect house for us!

David met us when we arrived and was extremely helpful and we were very excited to be in such a beautiful house which was even better on viewing than the pictures we had already seen! The pool and garden areas in particular were fabulous. There was plenty of space for all six of us and there was everything we needed in the house!

The location was great and our grown up children were able to hop in a taxi for 12 euros to sample the night life in Sitges.

Celebrating our Golden Wedding Anniversary

We had a lovely 3 weeks, the property was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The swimming pool being a big hit with everybody. The owners were very helpful throughout. St Pere de Ribes is a good centre with Sitges easily accessible by bus. We would definitely recommend this property.

Authentic Catalan Holiday

We booked Julie and David's house in Sant Pere De Ribes wanting a holiday in an authentic Catalan town close to but not in the centre of tourist amenities, our choice was perfect !!

The house is an easy 30 minute drive from Barcelona airport and easily found on Carrer de Pi, we were met and shown around by David who explained everything we needed to know about the house.

The house was immaculately clean, well equipped and nicely appointed.

Ribes is a nice little town with ample cafés bars and fantastic restaurants.

Transport to Sitges and Barcelona is all excellent and inexpensive, wether by taxi, bus or rail, in truth the transport availability is so good had I realised we probably wouldn't have needed a hire car.

In summary if you want a holiday base a little away from the main tourist areas but easily reached when you want to this is an ideal place.

The friendly locals and delightful house made for a brilliant two weeks in Catalonia thanks !!

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds paid into a UK bank account. You can also pay in euros (exchange rate calculated on booking) paid to a Spanish Bank account. Offers available for longer stays and two week bookings. price is fully inclusive of all cleaning, bedding and beach towels and bathroom towels etc.
Please note that the house is for 6 people a 7th can be accommodated on a camp bed at an extra charge of £100 a week.

Notes on accommodation: Available for long stay rentals, please ask about discounts for two week stays. Possible Flexible entry days to accommodate low cost flights, depending on previous bookings and availability. Please check Ryan air into Reus less than an hour transfer time. The earlier you book the cheaper the flights, flights start to increase in price around May. Flights into Barcelona (30 mins) Reus (45 mins) and Girona (1 hour 30) possible for the house, all easy motorway driving. Outside: The pool is not heated but due to the size it heats up naturally, perfect to sit and relax. The pool is not too deep 2 m at the deepest. It is very much a chill out pool rather than a party pool (ie which could be big, deep and very cold). The garden is a lovely environment where you can relax after a day at the beach, sunbathe by the pool or enjoy a moonlit meal in the evening(well lit) There are 3 separate outside areas, a cool patio with lounge furniture, garden with a shady tree and alfresco dining area with BBQ and also a quiet terrace off the main bedroom with cafe furniture and sun beds. Utility Room: You are welcome to use the washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: bedlinen, towels and beach towels included. Our cleaner has cleaned for us weekly for 8 years. She comes in once a week and changes beds, towels, cleans bathrooms and kitchen. Weekly pool maintenance and gardening, please feel free to water plants. Other: The house has 4 bedrooms, one is left as an office so if needed you have an independant work space. It can also be used for the children to watch TV, read, relax, escape the heat, use the WiFi in comfort for business or pleasure. Perfect for the cot also
