Apartment in Calella de Palafrugell, Costa Brava - less than 10 minutes walk from the beaches of both Calella and Llafranc

The pretty coves and fine sandy beaches of Calella, Llafranc and Tamariu are widely regarded as the most beautiful part of the Costa Brava. So much so that they have become the preferred week end location of many well heeled Barcelona families. Together with the main town of Palafrugell (ten minutes drive away) which was once a centre of cork making they now offer a quieter side of the Costa Brava with a good blend of authentic Catalonia (music,food and markets) with some chic shops and restaurants. Beautiful surrounding countryside includes medieval towns (Pals and Begur) and modern attractions (the Aquapark is less than 1/2 an hour away). Flights to Girona (45mins away) or Barcelona (90 mins away) National Geographic featured this area as one of the best trips in the world for 2012.

About Jane

We are a professional couple with adult children. We are happy to share what is essentially a family home retained for holidays and retreat with other families who will care for it as we do whilst enjoying its facilities and splendid location.

Why Jane chose Baix Emporda

We simply fell in love with this part of Spain and found we could buy the very apartment in which we had spent a memorable family holiday. Calella and Lafranc are essentially spanish resorts attracting well healed families from Barcelona. As a result they now offer a very wide range of restaurants and some rather chic shops. the sandy beaches of Laffranc and the lovely coves of Calella are some of the pretiest place on the Costa Brava and manage to be both lively and peaceful at the same time. A taste of Catalunya in food,dance and music.

Notes on accommodation: There is no lift so you must be able to walk up the 3 flights of stairs. There is an under-ground parking space. The grounds are private and in our experience offer a very safe playground for children. Outside: Well kept gardens with very large unheated pool shared by all apartments but very rarely crowded. The pool is surrounded by lawns and sun beds are available. There is a fenced tennis court. BBQs are not allowed in the gardens. Utility Room: Washing machine Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and towels provided Cleaning and change of linen/towels each week possible for extra charge Other: Large balcony with dining furniture for 6

Everything superb.

Each year, my wife and I take our daughters (27,25 and 21 years old!!) on a family holiday, and this year, we were joined by a boyfriend. Organising everything is my responsibility, so I am always anxious not to disappoint. I had high hopes for this property and the nearby beaches and resorts of Calella and Llafranc. We were not disappointed in any way! The apartment is well furnished and equipped with modern appliances and plenty cutlery and crockery that allowed us to use the dishwasher. It was spotlessly clean. We ate all our meals on the balcony, which has lovely views over the pool, gardens and the hills beyond Calella. The huge pool is cleaned regularly, and the grounds are immaculately maintained. There were plenty of modern comfortable sunbeds around the pool, which was constantly in use without being too busy. The underground car park was a godsend, as weekend parking would otherwise be horrendous. The parking space is also generous (we hired a 7 seater) and secure. The beaches and restaurants/shops are 5-10 minutes easy walking distance away, with plenty of choice. Small supermarket across the road, with Aldi and Mercadona 10 minutes easy drive away in Palafrugell. It was unanimous in our family that nothing could have been better. Thank you for a fantastic holiday.

A perfect place for a relaxing holiday

The apartment was spacious, well presented, with a big kitchen that was perfect for cooking, and a lovely balcony, great for eating out in the evening and watching the sunset. The pool is huge! With loads of sun loungers and space to sunbathe. There's a handy little shop for everyday items over the road, and a big supermarket a 5 minute drive away. The town was only 10mins walk away and beautiful, with some excellent restaurants where you can get traditional local food right on the sea front. We really couldn't have wanted anything more for our holiday, highly recommended.

Spacious apartment, great location!

If you come to Llafranc once, you’re likely to come back again – we have many times and five of those to the same apartment! That says it all - highly recommended. I shouldn’t really write a favourable review, or you’ll want to stay here when we want to return!!

The bedrooms and living room are a good size, two modern bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen. There is sufficient wardrobe space and a separate laundry area, great for drying clothes. Being on the top 3rd floor, you enjoy a lovely view of this gated, small development, with it’s huge swimming pool, beautifully maintained grounds and tennis court. You can even see the sea. Kids typically stay up late and have great fun with the run of the grounds late into the evening! The underground garage is a real bonus, particularly on weekends when parking is busier with the influx from Barcelona.

The apartment is ideally situated, within a short walk of the sandy coves of Callella or the beach at Llafranc, with a plethora of good restaurants. The little supermarket opposite is really convenient for fresh baguettes and croissants and essential provisions, with larger supermarkets just a short drive away and fresh veg, fish and meat markets in nearby Palafrugell. Just 20 minutes drive is an excellent Aqua Park, with over 20 rides, set within grounds ideal for a day’s picnic.

You’ll enjoy the best paella in Spain, if you drive to the beach front restaurants in Aiguablava!

Great apartment and location

Apartment has a lovely view over the pool and tennis court as well as views over calella. Great location for both calella and llafranc with plenty of choice of restaurants and beaches. Was very quiet while we were there so easy availability of sun loungers around the pool. Nice walk around the coast and plenty of places to visit within a short drive. Would highly recommend!

Comfortable and well-appointed

We had a very enjoyable holiday at this comfortable and well- equipped apartment which is close to the beaches and restaurants.We would recommend Chez Tomas in Llafranc, Sali in Calella and Hotel Trias in Palamos.

The apartment is well situated for visiting the medieval villages in the locality such as Pals and Peratallada.

We will certainly return.

A gem of a place!

What a great place for an autumn break! The apartment itself lives up to its billing. We arrived in pouring rain and although you must be prepared to lug luggage up to the third floor, the style, size and views from the apartment soon bring on relaxation and a real feeling of being on holiday. We made little use of the pool or the tennis court which looked very well-maintained. Rather it was the three local rocky bays which immediately took our fancy. Very accessible with the nearest at the most 10 minutes' walk away. Each one different, and surrounded by a range of very good eateries. We also did some coastal walking nearer Palamos. Local markets in Palamos an adventure in themselves. Visited Besalu, a lovely old town with dramatic gorge, and Girona with so much to see. Basically a very well-appointed flat in a great location with easy access to eateries and some very visitable towns. While we stayed 6 days, a fortnight would not be too much. Thoroughly recommended.
