A newly constructed property (completed late 2009) to very high specification including marble floors throughout, fully air conditioned, fully fitted kitchen, ensuite to main bedroom, luxurious lounge with large flat screen tv, dvd player and open balcony with stunning sea views. Garden area to front with furniture. Property is surrounded by exquisite landscaping with numerous communal pools and play areas for children. It sits on the sun drenched slopes of the Aegean.
I am 45 years old, married with two children. We fell in love with the Bodrum Peninsula a number of years ago, but took our time in purchasing a property ensuring we made the right investment. The Horizon Sky resort is top quality and the staff are really friendly and helpful.
Claire Leonard purchased this in 2009
The property on the Horizon Sky resort was designed by a top Turkish architect and is therefore very different to other properties. It is situated close to a traditional Turkish village and beach and so you really do feel away from the main tourist hub! However a simple boat ride or car/bus and you are in bustling Bodrum.
The resort is quiet but has great facilities including pools, jacuzzis, bar, shop, restaurant, children's play areas and gymnasium. The resort itself is 25 min boat taxi ride (free) from the fishing village of Gulluk which has several traditional Turkish restaurants, bars and a supermarket. The village also has a lovely beach with jetty. From Gulluk you can hire a car or catch a Dolmus (bus) to numerous places of interest, such as Bodrum (we recommend the Water Park for Kids). Alternatively you can take a boat ride around the peninsula enjoying the sights, on board BBQ and the diving. If you want to play Golf this can also be arranged as the course is only 12km away and the fees are very reasonable.
What can I say; simply our best family holiday ever. The beautifully appointed apartment set out over two floors was sumptuous and had superb balcony views over the sea to the fishing village of Gulluk. The resort itself, horizon sky, was beautifully clean with superb pools, restaurant, bar, and great food. One of the many highlights for us was the complimentary boat taxi service from our apartment across to Gulluk where we enjoyed traditional Turkish meals. Sailing back across the water at night after an enjoyable evening was exhilarating and our only tough decision each day was if we should sail across to Gulluk or stay in the resort to eat – both equally good. We also discovered that we were less than an hour away from both Bodrum and Milas, and we had great days out at both major centres, particularly enjoying a day out at the water park in Bodrum. This is the second time we've visited Horizon Sky resort in Gulluk and our first time in this apartment. Overall it was a fantastic, chilled holiday and we'll certainly be back next year. The resort is just a 15 minute taxi ride from Bodrum airport and then a great 30 minute crossing on the free boat. We were met at the other side by a free taxi who had the keys to our apartment and took us and our bags straight there. The apartment is in a great location halfway between the main pool (bit more lively) and the lovely (quieter) pool. It has great views and is really luxurious, with everything you could need for your break. The resort was lovely and quiet (out of school hols) and the pool we used (one of 7!) was perfect, with generally only a couple of other people using it. Last year there was a pool bar and a beach bar and restaurant on-site but there have been some planning issues and weren't available this year. That's the only reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 and everyone is confident they'll be back for 2015. It wasn't a great inconvenience as we love the boat trip to Gulluk every night but it might have been nice to have the option to have stayed in one evening. Gulluk is a great village, everyone is really friendly, all the restaurants are good and it's really cheap (we paid about £20 for 3 of us to have a main course and glass of wine). We didn't venture too far as it was a bit hot for us but transport to Bodrum is easy and cheap and we heard rave reviews about the boat trips that run from Gulluk harbour (again, very cheap). So, we'll definitely be back next year and would recommend the apartment to anyone who asks. Thank you Claire & Mark!
My family and I had an absolutely amazing stay at Horizon Sky for two weeks at the start of September 2013. The accommodation was amongst the best I have ever stayed in and was perfect for our needs.
The apartment sits a couple of minutes walk from the main pool and restaurant area and is also situated very close to one of the other (Seven?) more secluded 'private' pools that the resort has to offer. The apartment's air-conditioning is hugely effective, furnishings sensible yet stylish and the TV and DVD player were an absolute godsend. The pictures do not do the apartment or the view justice.
The resort has a secluded and exclusive feel which comes in part from the private water taxi that takes you to and from the closest village of Gulluck. Horizon Sky is built on a peninsula about a 30 minute boat ride from here. Although crossing times are limited with a little bit of practice it's easy to work with the arrival and departures. The water taxi departs from a newly built sea side private bar and restaurant that sits next to a marina and benefits from a private beach.
Gulluck is fantastic little fishing village and offers numerous consistently good restaurants with a couple of half-decent 'Ibiza' style bars. We found the locals incredibly friendly and accommodating and the food of an exceptionally good price to quality ratio. A short trip from Gulluck you have the larger town of Bodrum, something of a playground of the rich in a similar vein to St Tropez, definitely worth a visit which is easy and cheap by bus.
I would absolutely recommend staying at this resort and more specifically in this apartment. There are others listed here but they may not be as close to the main pool area and might require a long and steep walk to get there.
