About the property

Cottage in La Cassagne, Nr. Montignac, Dordogne, Aquitaine, France - Set In Tranquil Location, Golden Orioles And Nightingales Love It Too

The cottage was built over 100 years ago in traditional limestone with oak beams. It was completely restored to a high standard by a local artisan around 10 years ago. It is situated in a small, quiet and friendly hamlet of 3 houses within the village of La Cassagne. The gated house and private pool are on a hill overlooking the 12th Century Romanesque Church of the village and are surrounded by fields, woods and walnut groves. Being slightly biased, we think it would be hard to find a better location than this one. The cottage is quite simply situated in a lovely tranquil and idyllic location. Montignac, Salignac and Terrasson are nearby as are restaurants and all leisure pursuits.

About Marc Mearns

We fell in love with the Dordogne (and the first holiday cottage 'For Sale' that we viewed) during a 2 week stay in 1997. In the future we hope to spend more time in France where the climate and lifestyle seem to agree more with us both. The countryside around La Cassagne is just superb with all the facilities one needs nearby. The cottage is situated in a tranquil location and if you are looking to escape the rat race and the fast pace of life then this is the place to chill out. If you want to be a bit more adventurous there are an infinite number of chateaux to see or the famous Lascaux paleolithic cave paintings to view at Montignac. Why not arrange a pleasurable holiday period in this unspoilt region of south west France.

Marc Mearns purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Marc Mearns chose Perigord Noir

We fell in love with the cottage and its location as soon as we saw it. We were on a 2 week holiday and it was the first Cottage For Sale that we viewed. The cottage is situated in a quiet, picturesque spot free from the 'hustle and bustle' of everyday life although everything in easy reach if you want it.

This is a lovely Gite, very well equipped and clean. Beautiful setting, very relaxing and peaceful. Lots of varied walks around the lanes to and from the Gite. There are interesting towns nearby full of French charm. Margaret and Marc give you a warm welcome and are very hospitable with a mind of local information. Would recommend this property.
