About the Owner
The cottage owner is Rachel Halley, I grew up in Sheffield and spent a lot of my childhood exploring this beautiful part of the UK. I am passionate about the area, the village and I take great pride in being very hands on with the management of the cottage. I have an ongoing programme of improvements which our regular guests love as there are always new touches whenever they return.
I look forward to welcoming you to Tweedle Dum Cottage.

Thank you Rachel and Robert, you have thought of everything, we loved the cottage and the area. It was great to be able to walk to all three pubs - we ate at them all. We will be returning soon.
We stayed at one of your other cottages last year and decided to try Tweedle Dum Cottage this year. We were not disapointed, we slept like kings and queens in the fabulous bed. The cottage was warm and cosy and we are already planning our next visit.
Thank you for another relaxing stay, we slept in every day and loved the new bathroom with the huge bath. Holly enjoyed the fabulous walks and chasing the rabbits.

Stylishly decorated cosy luxury cottage
This cottage is set in a beautiful location, in a lovely quaint village with two pubs and views across the hills. The décor is all you want from a cottage, beautiful original features, tastefully modernised. The bathroom feels very luxurious with bathrobes, a contemporary countertop sink and a spa outlet tap on the bath. The sofa was easily big enough for two, the gentle lighting made evenings watching TV very cosy and we had control of the heating so could adjust it how we wanted. Bakewell was only 10 minutes away, with quaint and interesting shops but also a Coop store, Buxton is close too and the historic village of Eyam where the villagers isolated themselves from spreading the plague. The kitchen had all of the utensils and cooking equipment you could need, including a dishwasher. The cottage feel of the kitchen made it a pleasure to cook in. All the instructions were clear and arrangements promptly dealt with. The garden at the back was small but big enough to sit and enjoy some sun, if there had been any. I felt more like I was in a hotel but with the freedom and advantages of self catering. I thoroughly recommend it.
A cottage worth staying in
My wife and I spent 3 days at the cottage sometime back in 2012 and had a lovely stay. I have only just posted a review on here because I'd not got round to it, but we were looking at some photo's of our holiday here and felt I must write one. The cottage was delightful and spotlessly clean. It was very romantic, the four poster bed was beautiful and so comfortable. The downstairs was cosy and the kitchen fully equipped with all we needed. The back yard was small, but nice with it, it was nice to sit and have breakfast out there and relax. The owners were fantastic and so easy to deal with and they answered all our quires promptly. They also made sure the bed correct linen we had requested (my wife is allergic to feathers) was there for us on arrival. The key safe details were easy and supplied a day before our arrival as promised. You will not regret your decision to stay here, the village is lovely and the walks down the river are beautiful. Bakewell is 10 mins away car and a delightful place to spend a day, full of good shops, restaurants and cafes selling gorgeous food.
Fabulous little gem
Luxurious gem of a cottage on the heart of the Peak District. From the minute we pulled into the car park and let ourself in through the lovely front door we instantly felt relaxed a knew it was the ideal retreat for the relaxing New Year we yearned for.
The cottage is beautifully furnished throughout, lovely squashy sofa, luxury bedding, fluffy towels and robes, every time I looked around I spotted another quirky picture or ornament. The owner really has thought of everything. The kitchen is beautifully equipped with top of the range cookware, knives and everything else you need for self catering.
There is a very detailed information booklet, instructions for all appliances and lots of information about the surrounding area, along with a cast range of DVDs of which we took great advantage due to the horrendous weather outside, a good range of books and even hair dryer and straighteners tucked away in the upstairs drawer.
As other reviewers have mentioned the bed is probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in with lovely cotton bedding and fluffy throws.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tweedle Dum as a great little hideaway. Unfortunately we didn't get to venture far in this lovely little village due to terrible storms but felt very cosy and secure tucked away indoors.
From the Owner
“We just love the area, the countryside is so beautiful, the locals are so friendly and there is so much to see and do, or our guests just relax and unwind. We often use the cottage ourselves as an escape from the hustle and bustle of London life. Having spent many years renting other people's cottages, we have learnt that home comforts are essential for a relaxing holiday. We have filled the cottage with many luxury items that we think you will love and we very much look forward to sharing our cottage with you.”
Activity and Interests

There are many fabulous walks right from the doorstep.
East Midlands and Manchester Airports are the closest airports.
There is Post Office in the village which doubles up as a general store and sells all the essentials. There is also an excellent pie / cake shop in the village. All three village pubs serve good food.
