About the property

Cottage in Runswick Bay Nr. Whitby, North Yorkshire, England - Stunning Views, 2 Minute Walk to Beach, Pub and Cafe

Cottage with great sea views in unspoilt bay, sheltered by the north winds by Lingrow Knowle. Stunning views, 2 minute walk to beach, pub and cafe. At the front of the cottage there is a veranda with table and chairs with one of the best views in the village. Runwick Bay was a former fishing village on the north east coast. It is a pretty village with lots of white washed cottages and a lot of charm.

About Beverley Brook

We used to visit Runswick Bay on a regular basis before we bought the cottage and would dream about the possibility of buying a small house there. Eventually we took the leap and basically have never looked back. This cottage has given us real quality time together. We will still be using the cottage in between lets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

25 Oct 2014 We have had a fantastic week which began from the moment we arrived. Absolutely brilliant cottage. Views are amazing (even more so at dawn and dusk sitting outside with that view and only the sounds of the birds and the waves.....

9 Nov 2014 What an absolute delight to stay here. It's been better than expected. Total relaxation. Everything had been done to make the cottage so complete. The views are total perfection. We will be returning. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place.

Lovely Cosy Cottage with Amazing view

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 3 night stay and had the most wonderful time. The cottage is perfect with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were even able to have our breakfast sat outside in the sun over looking the lovely bay in February! The extra touches the owners provide make it even more special. We loved it and cant wait to come back.

Gorgeous retreat in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely quiet location and very homely cottage. A perfect place to call home for a break away whether rain or shine. Would highly recommend - great location overlooking the Bay, Cleveland Way on the doorstep, quaint and cosy cottage that has everything you need. To top it off we also managed to spot a seal in the Bay.

Gorgeous cottage in the perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our second stay at Top Gallant, it really is a world away from everyday life and could not be more perfect. The cottage itself is small but perfectly formed and really well equipped and well thought out. The sea view across the bay takes your breath away, especially from the main bedroom, and prosecco on the balcony is a must. Runswick Bay is a real gem, the village is so lovely and the cafe and pub ideal. Thank you, We will definately be back again.....

Quaint, quirky and very homely

  • 5 of 5

The village of Runswick Bay is almost like something you would find described in a fantasy novel. Lots of tiny cottages hugging a steep cliff, all randomly placed on top of each other. A maze of narrow cobbled paths leading you in between the cottages in no particular order. The place is absolutely fascinating.

Perched high above these cottages is Top Gallant with views over orange slated roves down to the sweeping beach of Runswick Bay. Sitting on the terrace you have a wonderful view of the village and can watch, and hear the crashing waves - totally exhilarating.

The cottage itself is wonderful and cosy and is very much like you are borrowing someone's home everything you need is provided for in this fantastic compact cottage. The views from the main bedroom are superb, a fantastic way to wake up in a morning.

The only note of caution is there are a number of steps to climb to get to the cottage and to get to the bedroom means ascending a spiral staircase, but so long as you are reasonably active these will not trouble you.

Besides enjoying some splendid meals in the cottage we did venture out to the Runswick Bay Hotel on the Saturday night of our stay where we had a lovely meal, but based on our experience, I would advise booking as all the tables in the smallish dining room were occupied.

We will hopefully be making a return visit soon to this super cottage.
