About the property

Situated in the exclusive LaVanta village on outskirts of Kalkan. Stunning & Peaceful location a 5 minute drive from village centre.

Villa Luna is a luxury modern villa with a classic Mediterranean feel on the exclusive LaVanta development on the outskirts of Kalkan. Set amongst olive and pine trees, and with splendid sea and mountain views, LaVanta is just the place to escape the stresses of everyday life.

Villa Luna has a private infinity pool, 2 sun terraces (with sunbeds & parasols), 2 shaded seating / dining area's (fully furnished) and mature gardens (giving privacy). For your convenience there is a dedicated parking slot right outside the front door.

Inside, Villa Luna is air conditioned throughout, with beautiful marble floors - all making for a cool sanctuary when it gets a bit too hot! The villa comprises three evenly sized bedrooms all with en suite/adjacent shower bathrooms and luxury fittings. All bedrooms have excellent sea views. To complement the Mediterranean look and feel of Villa Luna, there are beautiful Turkish rugs, throws and cushions throughout.

The villa layout is as follows : Through the front door to an entrance area with stairs leading up and down. Upstairs, leading off from a gallery hallway, are 2 bedrooms. On the left is the master bedroom (double bedded) with balcony, sea views and ensuite bathroom. The bedroom has a wardrobe and chest of drawers with ample storage space. On the right of the hallway is a twin bedded room, again with sea views, an ensuite bathroom and ample wardrobe / storage space. Downstairs from the front door is the 3rd bedroom and the living area, effectively the Ground floor. As you descend, facing you are double doors onto the outdoor dining area / pool terrace. On the left is a twin bedded room with adjacent fully fitted bathroom. This bedroom has direct access onto a shaded and private terrace. This is the perfect spot for a quiet cup of coffee, or, read of a book. On the right, down a couple of steps, is the kitchen / dining area. The modern kitchen is fully fitted with everything you would expect, including a very large fridge/freezer. Turning left you enter the lounge area with comfortable sofa's, a fireplace, vaulted ceiling and access onto a shaded terrace set up for outdoor dining. The lounge has cable TV (including many English language channels) and a DVD player (with lots of DVD's to choose from). There is also a selection of books to browse through and read. Importantly, there is a private and secure broadband connection for you to use during your stay.

With the Ground floor bedroom Villa Luna is suitable for those with reduced mobility, but not wheelchairs.

We can reconfigure bed arrangements if required (e.g. move double bed to Ground floor). There are 2 folding beds available should they be needed. These are only suitable for small children unto the age of 12 years.

There is more storage space, for suitcases etc., under the stairs.

Villa Luna is situated about 250 meters from the LaVanta Club House, Papatya Cafe & Bar and the 25 metre communal pool. The Club House has a small shop selling essentials, as well as a pool table and a table tennis table. Papatya is a great place for everything from a coffee or ice cream, to a snack, a sundowner(s) or a full blown meal. There are plenty of tables for everyone as well as sun beds and parasols around the pool. The Club House area is perfect for when you want to be sociable, or, the kids want to make / meet friends.

LaVanta is not open to the public and is a gated community so is extra safe and secure for you and your family.

During your stay you will have access to an English speaking property manager who will be on hand for your arrival & departure, and for anything that you need regarding the villa during your stay.

About Patrick

Having spent 5 years living and working in Istanbul we spent a lot of time exploring Turkey as a family. As much as we love the rest of the country, we decided that Kalkan was the place for us when we first visited in 2002. Since then we have returned every year, holidaying in our own home since 2005. Since the 2015 season we have taken back direct control of Villa Luna rentals, having previously used an agent. This will mean a faster response to your enquiries, as well as a more personalised service before, during and after your stay.

Why Patrick chose Kalkan

In 2009 we decided to buy Villa Luna as we were so impressed with the LaVanta development. As well as its great facilities, it's slightly higher position means its cooler in the high summer and has amazing views - over the sea to the front and the mountains to the rear.

Villa Luna is ideally placed to enjoy all the attractions of Kalkan, without being right at the centre of things. Guests are able to come and go easily, making the most of everything Kalkan has to offer but being able to escape to cooler and quieter surroundings when that's what is wanted.

During the school holiday's LaVanta is a great family destination as the kids meet friends at the Club House and the grown ups relax quietly by the villa's private pool - of course, the reverse also works!

What makes this villa unique

As well as a fully equipped villa, guests can also enjoy the wider LaVanta facilities from May through October. These include a bar/restaurant area, a shop, a 25 metre swimming pool, a large sun terrace with umbrellas & loungers and a games area.

Family groups particularly enjoy these extra facilities as they have proven to be a great way to meet others, particularly for the kids.

Notes on accommodation: The villa is non smoking but please feel free to smoke outside. All 3 bedrooms area evenly sized, all have sea views and en suite or adjacent bathrooms. The ground floor bedroom is ideal for reduced mobility guests. The villa has an internal phone system which is handy for calling taxis, the security gate or the house manager if needed. Loved ones can also call you at the villa when you are away. Outside: Private infinity pool with pool lights for evening use. Wood decked and marble sun terraces with 6 wooden sun beds and 2 umbrellas. Marble dining terrace with wooden pergola with fabric awning and seating for 6 people. Gas portable BBQ. Side terrace with wooden pergola for shade with comfy armchair seating. Private garden with native plants and given mainly to grass. In the immediate vicinity are similar detached villas with landscaped gardens/private pools and a quiet residential road. There is virtually no on-site traffic as villa guests usually park their cars at the car park adjacent to the Club House when not unloading luggage. Villa Luna is screened by a combination of careful planting and it's position on LaVanta. The pool can not be seen from the small road and it has the largest sun terraces of all of the three bedroom villas on the estate. Utility Room: Clothes airer, iron and ironing board. Storage area under stairs for suitcases etc. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and towels are provided including pool towels. A weekly clean and laundry change is included in your rental. An additional cleaning/laundry service is available on request at an additional fee. Other: All bedrooms have wardrobes, bedside tables and/or chest of drawers and air conditioning. All have windows or doors with slatted shutters as well as wooden blinds or curtains.

Great villa in a wonderful location for exploring

The location is brilliant as a base to explore the region's attractions - averaging 30mins (car) to any attraction worthy of a visit and about 5 mins (car ride) to the town centre/harbour. The decor is light, airy and clean - we immediately felt comfortable. The villa pool isn't overlooked and also has a nice view. The clubhouse comes in very useful on those occasions when you want something quick and easy. It also serves a lovely chocolate brownie ice-cream sundae.

Beautiful villa in an amazing location!

We have just returned from the most fantastic fortnight staying at Villa Luna. We truly have had the most incredible holiday. Everything was simply perfect... the food, the people, the scenery, the coastline! Kalkan is an amazing and beautiful place. The villa is situated in such an incredibly peaceful and relaxing setting with the most stunning views. When we arrived we were met by Muhammet who was so kind, friendly and helpful for the duration of our stay. He and his team looked after our property ensuring it was spotlessly clean and the lovely private pool and pretty garden were always immaculate. We all agreed it was the cleanest pool we had every been in! The villa is beautiful, light and airy with everything you need. The garden provides so much space with 6 comfortable sunbeds on the patio/decking areas and there are also lovely shaded areas to sit and relax. The Club House has a huge pool with breathtaking views and the fabulous Papatya Café run by Debbie and Erhan. We enjoyed many delicious lunches and their weekly BBQ night. Kalkan has fantastic restaurants by the harbour, roof terraces which are so pretty at night with all the twinkling lights and also quaint little gems hidden in the narrow cobbled streets at the top of the old town. We enjoyed a brilliant boat trip, explored the Saklikent Gorge (including ringo rafting) and spent a day at Patara Beach also visiting the remarkable ancient ruins. Still so much to explore so will definitely be returning! Finally, thank you Patrick and Erica, you were incredibly helpful and efficient with our booking and questions. We have many wonderful memories!

Special interest holidays:

Kalkan is ideal for all types of water activities. The Bay has a Blue Flag Award for cleanliness and is ideal for a PADI diving course or learning to sail or water ski. Keen walkers & hikers can explore parts of the ancient Lycian Way which passes directly through the town. On Patara Beach are early morning horse riding sessions and in the summer Yoga classes are available on the sea front at Villa Mahal. Kalkan will inspire any photographer or painter with numerous photo and painting opportunities so don't forget to bring your camera and brushes. Turkish cooking classes are usually available through Guru's restaurant along with wine tasting evenings.


The villa is within a 5 minute drive of Kalkan with its public beach and chic beach clubs dotted around the bay. The beach clubs can be reached by car or by using the water taxi service from Kalkan harbour. The nearest sandy beaches are Kaputas and Patara. Kaputas is a small beach in a stunning gorge of turquoise blue water just a 10 minute ride away. The 18km sandy beach at Patara (protected nature reserve and totally unspoilt) is a 15 minute car ride away and is a must.


The nearest airport is Dalaman, a 75-90 minute car journey. An alternative is Antalya a 2½ - 3 hours drive by car. We advise either a private airport transfer on arrival, or to hire a car at the airport and drive yourself. The route is straight forward although it takes longer at night. A private car or jeep is ideal for your stay at Villa Luna, but local taxis are also available to take you into town and can be called from the internal phone line. There are plenty of local car hire providers.


The next nearest town to Kalkan is Kas, a 27km / 30 min drive away. Kas is worth visiting just for the stunning scenery on the coastal road. The nearest large town is Fethiye a 50 minute drive away with its bustling market, harbour and fish restaurants. Many historical sites are within a 45 minute drive of Kalkan including Xanthos, Tlos, and Pinara. Other places of interest are Saklikent Gorge, and the traditional villages of Bezirgan and Islamlar just a short drive up into the Taurus Mountains.

Further Details:

Kalkan has 5 major banks all with cash machines accepting most cash / credit cards, plus a local post office. There are 3 very well stocked supermarkets where you can buy pretty much everything you need for your holiday. In addition to the many arts & crafts shops there are also numerous specialist bakers, patisseries, greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers. As you'd expect in Turkey, there's also a great rug shop. There are also internet cafes and phone shops to stay in touch with home. There are English speaking doctors and a dentist if required. Don’t miss the experience of a Turkish bath or Hammam and there is even a small gym for fitness enthusiasts. Kalkan is well known for its array of excellent restaurants high up on roof terraces in the old town or by the harbour. As well as the more up-market restaurants around the harbour, don't miss the traditional eateries and small kebab houses with authentic Turkish food, live Turkish music and the chance to smoke a water pipe. For the young adults there are several good nightspots (don't worry, noise levels are carefully controlled).

Must Do's When In Kalkan: A day trip to Kekova / Simena, Saklikent Gorge and a Boat Trip on Kalkan Bay - all perennial favourites of our family and our guests.

Booking Notes:
To secure a booking we will require a 25% deposit (min amount £250) paid to our UK bank account. The balancing 75% of your booking is required 60 days prior to your arrival, plus a £250 security deposit against breakages and damage to the villa. Assuming no mishaps, the full security deposit is refunded direct to your account within 14 working days of departure.

Changeover Day:
For the high season months of July and August our preferred changeover day is Friday. Other months are more flexible. Earliest arrival time is 5pm and latest departure time is midday. If needed, the Club House facilities (pool, bar, restaurant, showers, games room etc.) are available before you have access to the villa and/or after you have vacated the villa - very handy if you're arriving/departing outside of check in / check out times..

Notes on prices:
The prices quoted for Villa Luna are based on up to 6 people sharing.
A couples discount is available on application for all 2016 dates with the exception of 2nd July to 2nd September.
For parties of 7-8 people please add £50 per week for each additional child to the listed prices.
The minimum stay is 7 nights. Stays in excess of 7 nights that are not complete weeks will be considered but will depend on adjacent bookings and will be quoted accordingly.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
