Apartment in Kalkan, Turkey - Peaceful And Quiet Location Surrounded By Olive Groves, A Leisurely 10 Minute Walk To Town

The apartment was constructed in 2004/5 and built to a high standard, with antique ceramic floor tiles to keep the apartment cool. The lounge is spacious and contains a three seat sofa and a two seat sofa, with side tables and a bookrack. A CD player/radio is installed. Access to the south facing balcony is directly from the lounge. The balcony directly overlooks the pool and sea views giving uninterrupted views over the two bays. On the balcony is a rectangular table, 4 chairs, 2 sun loungers, and a fully retractable awning. Air conditioning is installed throughout. With 24 hour security and a resident site manager, the apartment is surrounded by landscaped gardens. There is free WIFI on the complex.

Christine and I live in Ainsdale near Southport. We have two sons and 5 grandchildren who all love to visit the apartment and Kalkan. We are both retired and spend as much time as possible at the apartment, but trying to achieve a good balance between our own occupation and letting periods is always a problem!. We have lived and worked in the Middle and Far East for over 23 years so we have taken holidays in many beautiful places, but for us Kalkan is the ideal mix of stunning inland scenery and a really interesting coastline. Not to mention the almost overwhelming choice of restaurants!

September 2008 - we had a fantastic time in Kalkan thank you. The apartment was really lovely with amazing views, we felt we had the best spot in the town! The team on site were incredibly friendly and helpful and the Enes team were also very professional which helped make the holiday go very smoothly. We thought Kalkan itself was a great little place, and the people there so friendly. The weather was very hot, but it was lovely to come back to the pool area and relax in the cool apartment! A perfect apartment

As seasoned visitors to Kalkan we were not disappointed with the Olive Grove apartment. The complex is situated in a peaceful area above the town and the views and evening breeze make it very special. Comfortably furnished, thoroughly equipped and spotlessly clean it was perfect for our 12 day holiday. There is a large swimming pool and on the days we 'stayed home' we had it mostly to ourselves.The complex manager, Seco and his staff looked after us very well and introduced us to a lovely local restaurant as an alternative to traveling into town.

A very pleasant stay....... We will be back.

Just home from 2 weeks in Kalkan, apartment was just perfect, clean and very comfortable. Beautiful views sitting out on the balcony watching the sun set.

There is only one word to describe the apartment, location, and facilities - fabulous! The Olive Grove was exactly as described, little extras included hairdryers, straighteners, pool/beach towels, adaptors, books and dvd's and a welcome pack on arrival. This complex is beautifully maintained, a wonderful freshwater 25 mtre pool which most of the time we had to ourselves. Four designated sunbeds and two parasols. Views to die for from the balcony, an awning to sheild from the sun if needed/wanted. The owner went out of his way to be helpful and offered much advice. Arranged taxis on arrival and we were able to pay by credit card once in Kalkan in English pounds. We experienced a mini heatwave so tended to laze by the pool, a few steps back to the apartment which was efficiently airconditioned, and back to the pool. Cocktails and breakfast on the balcony. We did visit the market and into town a few times and ate at Aubergine and The Olive Tree. In the evenings we just went to the abundance of local restaurants - all excellent and the Turkish people are a delight. All in all a fantastic holiday. Just be aware it is quite hilly - build in £3 or £4 to get a taxi back up to the complex!

This was my families first visit to Turkey and we were not disappointed. After a long journey through the night to wake up with the wonderful views over Kalkan we knew we had made an excellent choice. From the outset Ian was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The apartment is located up quite a steep hill but the views are well worth the walk or a taxi ride. The apartment was very well equipped and the water cooler was a great addition! The pool was perfect and having your own sun loungers was great after a day out not having to hunt for somewhere to sit. Kalkan has plenty of lovely restaurants we did not have one bad meal and the Turkish people are so friendly and polite. We would definitely recommend staying at the Olive Grove and we will definitely be returning.

Our third visit to Kalkan but the first time in Saneil Complex; We were very impressed with the standard of accommodation and we would highly recommend the Olive Grove apt, which was clean, comfortable and very well equipped - cleaned every day with a change of linen throughout the week. The views from the spacious balcony are lovely and the pool area was super too; big pool, clean and plenty of beds, umbrellas if needed. The staff at the complex were also very friendly and helpful. We tried a number of new restaurants and cafe's this year, following advice from the visitors book at the apt. and will definitely go back to The Old Trading House and Celik. Ali, at the Elixir Hotel was as helpful and friendly as ever and we made good use of the delivery and take away services of the Cafe Vita once again. We also enjoyed lunch at Adam's Bar on the road to Kaputus Beach. We hired a car at the airport as usual, and for us this was the best option in terms of value and convenience, although the great location of The Olive Grove certainly does dictate the need for a car. We would definitely use The Olive Grove/Saneil Apts in the future and cant wait to return to Kalkan next year.

Turkish Treat

For two members of our party this was their 9th visit to Turkey for myself and my wife our 3rd.......However for all our 1st visit to Kalkan and we were impressed not only with the village but the accomodation.

It was all it was purported to be, clean and very comfortable with all fixtures and features to ensure a troublefree stay.

The cleaning staff attended regulary and did a 1st class job,when we accounted a problem with one of the interior doors being locked shut,maitenance attended promptly to remedy the situation.

Location was superb pool and surrounds excellent,views second to none...however I would certainly recommend car hire for negotiating the fairly severe hill from the village.Without a car which are very reasonable (£24 per day),taxis are a option but costs do mount up.Car hire is also a much cheaper option to transfer to and from the Airport.

Kalkan has a really relaxed and friendly feel it has an abundance of restaurants and cafes to suit all pockets BUT is still good value all round.

Local transport connections are good and the fine coast road gives easy access to places of interest.A short diversion inland reveals a wonderful taste of rural Turkey.

In conclusion we would recommend this property,we dealt with the owner who was extremely helpfull and with his assistance everything went smoothly.

Your comments about airport transfers v car hire are very valid. I always let guests know that hiring a car at the airport can be cost effective, instead of paying for a transfer. Of course many guests just want to switch off when on holiday and not drive at all, and as you say the local Dolmus buses can transport you to all of the adjacent beauty spots and beaches. From the Owner

We first stayed at Saneil complex in 2005 in a friends apartment and immediately fell in love with the place. This was our first visit to the Torquiose Coast of Turkey, only ever visiting Istanbul once before. We viewed several other apartment complexes over the next few weeks but kept coming back to Saneil. Having seen all other complexes we felt that this one was the best for – position – build quality – facilities.

Kalkan has six popular beach clubs (3 of which are reached by shuttle from the harbour), making it easy to enjoy sea bathing. These are wonderful paved platform terraces and gardens cut into the bottom of the mountainside, with ladders going into the sea. They offer everything from swimming and sunbathing to water sports and restaurant/bar facilities, with sunbed and umbrellas for hire. The beach clubs across the bay have free water taxi service that you can pick up in the harbour.


Dalaman is the nearest airport to Kalkan and is approx 1 hour 30 mins away. Taxi/mini-bus transfers or car hire can be arranged for guests. Car hire is not essential in Kalkan as local transport (dolmus) is both plentiful and cheap. All the local tourist beauty spots are serviced by the dolmus which leave from the village bus station. Taxis are also cheap and plentiful.

Car hire is available from Abitravel or Enes Rent a Car.


The apartment is a 15 minute walk (downhill) away from Kalkan village centre. The next nearest town is Kas, approx 30km away. Hire a car or take advantage of the excellent local taxi service or Dolmus (bus) to visit the stunning sandy beaches at Patara (18km) or Kaputas (6km). Further afield, around an hours drive, are the world famous lagoon beach at Olu Deniz and the lovely harbour town of Fethiye.

Kalkan by day is fun.

The town centre of Kalkan becomes surprisingly empty during the day as guests set off for daytime activities. Popular activities include beach-going, relaxing at beach clubs or swimming pools, water sports, exploring the ancient lands around Kalkan, and boat and gulet trips. Don't forget to stop by Kalkan's Thursday market for some great bargains. The Turquoise Coast and Kalkan area. This is probably the easiest area of Turkey to get excited about. From Marmaris to Antalya the coastline is gorgeous, the weather is reliably excellent and there are lots of things to do and see. The Turquoise Coast at its finest has become the destination of first choice for many first time and repeat visitors to Turkey. Turquoise seas and pine-clad mountains make this one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world. Combine this with a lovely climate and friendly people and you have an unbeatable combination for the perfect holiday. Kalkan – a small peaceful resort and fishing village with immense charm, has changed little over the years and offers a taste of traditional Turkish life. The narrow cobbled streets wind down through the village of whitewashed houses, shops, and restaurants until the small harbour is reached. More sophisticated than the usual resort town, Kalkan appeals to travellers looking for more than a ‘sun and sea’ holiday. The town itself is full of quality restaurants, bars, boutiques and shops selling hand-made goods. In the evening the local restaurants come alive, and the rooftop terraces provide a perfect setting from which to admire the beautiful scenery. Many places of natural beauty and historical interest - Lycian Way, Saklikent Gorge, Kekova sunken city, Tlos, Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, are all within easy reach. The delights of the Xanthos valley are 20 minutes away to the west, and include the 15km of sand at Patara as well as the Lycian ruins scattered between Tlos and the coast.

Being south facing, the apartment enjoys uninterupted sunshine, and has fantastic view over Kalkan and Kalamar bays. Being at the western end of the complex next to the olive groves, we do not have anyone overlooking us , but being on the first floor gives us the benefit of those great views .

A welcome pack is provided. The prices quoted are per week and based on a maximum number of 5 occupants. The price does not include flights, travel insurance, car hire or transfers.An electronic safe is provided for your convenience. Outside: A large, impressive, shared freshwater swimming pool is available to guests, who also have use of 5 private sun loungers and 2 umbrellas. Landscaped gardens are to the front and rear of the apartment. The large balcony has a glass topped rectangular table and 4 chairs plus 2 further sun loungers and offers stunning views to both Kalkan and Kalamar bays. The complex has it's own generator which automatically cuts in when there is a power cut, so providing an unbroken supply to all apartments at all times. (outside the apartment) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath and hand towels are provided, and are changed twice weekly along with all bedding.
