An amazing place to stay

We stayed here with 2 Labradors and a child. The whole house has an great homely feeling when you enter. You really do feel like it is a home from home! All the furnishings are excellent quality and nothing has been missed. This home has been looked after and loved and we can hardly wait to come back again.

The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook a meal.

The summer room/ conservatory is bright and is an excellent place to chill out while others are in the main room.

The log burner in the lounge is great to cwtch up in front of after a walk on the beautiful beaches.

Newport town is a 1 minute walk and has a excellent butcher / green grocer and is next to a very well stocked Spar. We had arranged a Tesco home delivery to the cottage but next time we will use the local shops as they had everything you will need and were not expensive.

The local pub is very welcoming and we were able to take our dogs inside too.

There are several beautiful beaches and all welcome the dogs. Dinas Head is a real hidden treasure.

Basically this cottage ticks all the boxes for a great holiday, excellent location, high quality furnishings, very cosy and welcoming.

We bought Curlew Cottage because it is in a lovely location and it is close to where I grew up in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. Pembrokeshire is a beautiful county and is very peaceful and benefits from fabulous scenery and a wonderful coastline.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

Great for sailing, windsurfing and kayaking, Newport is also well-known for its birdwatching close to the estuary.

Pembrokeshire National Park is an outstanding Area of Natural Beauty and has a stunning coastal path and the Preseli Mountains which makes Curlew Cottage the perfect base for keen walkers.

Riding is also available nearby.

Coast/Beach:

10 minute walk to the beach.

Newport beach is sandy and quiet and is approximately one mile long.

Travel:

Use of a car is recommended but not essential if you wish to stay in Newport itself.

Distances:

Newport is 7 miles north of Fishguard which has a ferry port with services to Rosslare, Ireland and a train station with services to Cardiff and London.

Further Details:

Newport has a great mixture of restaurants, cafes and pubs to suit all tastes. There is a bank, supermarket and several small individual shops offering fresh meat, fish and vegetables.
