House in El Cotillo, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands - Edge of Village, Perfect for the Beaches and Restaurants
The peaceful village of Cotillo is famous for its natural silver sand lagoon beaches and golden sand surf beaches. Not an umbrella or deck chair in sight, unless you take your own and only one cafe actually on the beach! Cotillo is an empathic naturist resort so be prepared to encounter the odd naked person or perhaps join them! Cotillo is also famed for its fabulous restaurants, most in the new or old harbour areas, all serving daily caught Atlantic seafood which can be eaten whilst watching wonderful sunset scenes. The house was built about 20 years ago as a family home so offers very generous size rooms, unlike many apartments in the village. Apart from the three double bedrooms and large open plan living space, the home has all kitchen appliances as one would expect, matching crockery, washing machine, iron and also a cupboard of books, DVD's and games!
About the Owner
We first went to Fuerteventura back in 1991 and discovered Cotillo. We have been going back frequently since, firstly with our 3 little boys, then the boys & their friends, then the girlfriends & now with grandson & granddaughter!! A full family cycle!! We love the place, despite the increasing building work there. You cannot escape the development of the 21st century anywhere but you can escape to the most spectacular beaches the world can offer by visiting Cotillo! We bought our home on the edge of the village, 10 years ago and have loved every minute of owning it but due to UK work commitments feel it is time to offer it to other holiday makers to enjoy too. The house was built as a home, not a touristy rental flat, so offers space and light and feels just like home from home.

“We bought the home because the area, in general, is of outstanding natural beauty! The house itself is in a very quiet street seconds from Anna's tiny supermarket (she has been there forever and we feel no option but support a sole trader), it's seconds away too from the new harbour & Rustica, a restaurant also run by two lovely local people, plus so close to other bars, restaurants & little local shops. By 11pm the area is silent, not a place to go to if you want discos and karaoke bars. A gentle stroll takes you to the lagoon beaches or the huge rolling surf ones. The view from the roof terrace is all but 360 degrees, the sun rising over the back drop of mountains behind us, to the village roof tops and the sun setting over the sea. What more can one want?”
Activity and Interests
The house is 100 yards away from the new harbour, 3 minute walk to the old harbour, approx 10 minutes walk to the start of the mile long the surf beaches and 15 minute walk to the start of the lagoon beaches. The beaches are the best on the island especially being west facing, so every day one can watch the sun setting on the horizon. All the beaches are virtually empty, especially off season… perfect for relaxation and privacy.
Only one airport on the island, 35 minutes away on the east coast. Very easy to get to Cotillo by hire car or taxi but personally would recommend a hire car.

Lajares approx 10 minutes by car. Corralejo approx 20 minutes by car or 40 minutes by hourly bus service from the village (water park, children activities, shops, the national park famous sand-dunes).
Loads of fantastic restaurants in the village all within 5 minute walk from the house so no drink/drive issues. Large new supermarket and other mini-mart shops (nearest 100yds from house). Two banks, surf board and cycle hire shop, French patisserie, a few souvenir style shops, internet cafe etc. However, the village is very quiet except for two weeks in August when it is festival time.
- Booking Notes:
£50 deposit required at time of booking, balance is due 4 weeks before departure date plus 60 euros are taken with you for the manager/cleaner! (she lives in A and will give you the key) for 2 people.£20 per day per extra person with small extra cleaning. No get out time on departure date unless we have a back to back booking, then it is by arrangement. I also take a BOND CHEQUE of £150 which is NOT BANKED unless excessive cleaning or malicious damage to the property is reported by the manager.
Most flights are a Wednesday from all UK airports but due to Monarch, Easyjet & Ryanair now using different days of the week, we are very flexable on arrival/departure dates
Notes on prices:
£270 for 2 per week, £20 per day per extra person. Minimum one off cleaning charge 60 euro for 2, 80 for 3, 90 for 4, 100 euro for 5 etc for up to 2 weeks. Longer stays will incur further cleaning charges. If you require more cleaning/laundry this will be by arrangement with the mananger. Minimum stay 3 days & rental adjusted accordingly but cleaning fee will be the same for 3 to 14 days.

“We have 2 bathrooms... no queue for the loo in the morning!! No drink/driving issues of an evening when you walk from restaurant back home. As already mentioned we have wonderful views, are right next to all the village amenities and a short hop to the wonderful beaches. Being a town house we have no landscaped garden or pool but you can sit by a pool anywhere in the world...... there is only one coastline of beaches you can sit on and that is in Cotillo! Our roof terrace, however, is integrated in the house, (some places you have to go out your front door and up a shared staircase) so if you feel like staying in you have total sunbathing privacy or it's perfect for a late night tipple leaning back and watching the billions of stars.”

- Description of sleeping capacity: Sleeps 6/7 (3 Bedrooms) Notes on bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed and DVD. Bedrooms 2 and 3 with twin beds. Large hallway has a double sofa bed with small child bed tucked underneath which can be taken into bedroom one or two or attached to the sofa bed turning it into a king.

- Notes on accommodation: The home has a beautiful spiral staircase from ground floor to roof terrace so unsuitable for crawling babies, youngsters under 3 and people unable to tackle stairs. WiFi is available for 10 euro per week, code will be given to you on arrival, as it belongs to the manager! Outside: Two sun loungers, a table and 8 chairs are on the roof terrace. The space is ideal for private sunbathing and has views of the sea, new harbour, village roof tops and mountains virtually 300 degrees of visibility. Utility Room: Lumber room has the washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Property is cleaned before your arrival and after your departure or by separate arrangement with the house keeper. House towels are changed weekly but extra towels or linen can be supplied by arrangement. However, there is full use of the washing machine.
