About yasemin32@chris-hodgson.co.uk

My husband and I live in England and since our two grown up boys have left home we have travelled to different places every year. However, when we visited Turkey on recommendation by friends who own property in the same area, we fell in love with this apartment, particularly, the views from the balcony and roof terrace and we decided to buy and use it as a relaxing retreat. We have visited twice a year since then at the start and end of the season as it is so breathtaking.

yasemin32@chris-hodgson.co.uk purchased this apartment in 2008

Why yasemin32@chris-hodgson.co.uk chose Bodrum

This part of Turkey is not so touristy or developed as other areas of the southern coast and as such is not overcrowded. It has the advantage of only being 45 minutes drive from Bodrum airport. Yalikavak, just 5 minutes drive, is fairly small but beautiful with everything we need and the locals are very friendly and welcoming to visitors. There are numerous beaches, shops, restaurants and local markets to choose from in the area - accessible by car, taxi or local buses. There are plenty of water sports locally too and, of course, opportunity for sailing in one of the famous local 'gulets'. It's also great for families with children for the safe beaches, and many swimming pools on the complex.

What makes this apartment unique

Yalikavak Holiday Gardens (previously known as Hillview Gardens) nestles high up on the hillside with magnificent views of sea and countryside all around but it is still only a short drive to 'civilisation' and the beaches. We have watched the gardens on the complex mature over the last few years to the lush beauty they have now. If you seek peace and quiet it can be found here out of the high season. But, if you prefer a bit more excitement and company then visit in July and August when it's hot and vibrant! You don't even have to move from the hillside if you don't want to! Hillview is a gated community with a few permanent residents. There are good reception staff on hand to help with all your needs, including trips, activities, car-hire and any emergencies that may arise.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a quick note to say thanks very much for the let of your apartment in Turkey last week. It's a great place to stay, the complex with the water slides was fantastic for Lois, view from the balcony spectacular and the town itself is excellent with plenty of choice of bars and restaurants.

We all really enjoyed it - have even recommended it to some friends who are thinking of visiting.

Thanks again and Best Regards,

We had a lovely time. We found the site to be very nice and quiet even in the summer holidays and with lovely gardens. Although I thought it may be too hot the breeze made it very pleasant. We will recommend your apartment to friends.

Clean, well-appointed apartment on a lovely development

  • 4 of 5

Thank you Christine and Chris for a lovely stay. The apartment is first class, and the views from the balcony are amazing.

Yalikavak Hillside Gardens is a lovely, well kept site. We missed may of the normal facilities (restaurant/bar etc) because we were out of season, but my daughter still absolutely loved the water slides.

Yalikavak itself is a very nice little town - pretty, clean, and not spoiled by tourists.

Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: So glad you all enjoyed your stay in Yasemin 32. Your comments echo precisely why we purchased this property in the first place - stunning views and lovely area! One of the advantages of visiting at the beginning or end of the normal tourist season is that everything is a bit quieter enabling a bit of extra space to enjoy the surroundings. Thanks for your comments.

Magnificent views

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from a two week stay. The apartment was spotless on arrival, comfortable and bright; the views from the balcony were breath taking, looking out onto the Agean over to the Greek island of Kalymnos. Swimming pool nearest the apartment was a good size although not as large as the main pool. Site restaurant and bar did not open until our last weekend, so unable to comment on food or service, but drinks were the same price as some of the more reasonable bars in town. Yalikavak is a small, but vibrant town and all on one level - unlike many other Turkish resorts. We hired a car, but always do on holidays, although did use the local dolmus bus service a few times which is cheap and reliable. This review takes into consideration the time of year hence many of the restaurants were still closed after the winter.

Owner's Response: Yes, the tourist season in this area of Turkey doesn't begin in full swing until May hence some things were not up and running. Fortunately, as Yalikavak is a normal town with a thriving local community all the shops and some of restaurants and bars remain open out of season. At least you could enjoy the lovely surroundings without having too share too much. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

I was impressed the moment I arrived at the apartment and carried on being impressed until the moment I left. Unlike many properties I've rented over the years this one had it all. It was spotless, fresh and what's more, everything worked! It was equipped with all the incidentals and comforts that can sometimes be missed when away from home.

I contacted Karen at the management company by email before arriving in Yalikavak and she kindly arranged transfers from the airport in advance. She was in fact a treasure and dealt with my various (and sometimes frivolous) queries in such a patient and cheerful way.

The facilities within the complex are exactly as described - if anything better. Beautiful scented flowers and butterflies everywhere. There are a few steps up to the main pool but the exercise is good and end result well worth the effort. The restaurant at the pool provides excellent snacks throughout the day and main meals in the evening to a high standard. All at prices to make you smile!

This was my first visit to Turkey and in truth I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard how friendly the people are and how beautiful Yalikavak is but it has to be experienced in person to appreciate how true those statements are.

Simply sitting on the terrace taking in the view and reading a book was a pleasure for me. Even on the hottest of days. The air was fresh, with an afternoon breeze making it comfortable.

If you think I was bowled over with this apartment and it's location - you're so right!

So much so that I am returning in September!!

Owner's Response: So glad everything was as we would expect Brian and you had such a pleasant stay. I agree there are a few steps and slopes to negotiate on YHG but as it's on a hillside that's to be expected. That's why we have such glorious views and sunsets! It's reassuring to have Karen looking after our guests for us - good to have someone we can rely on. Lucky you - another relaxing stay in September..... Many thanks, Christine.

Spotless-Spacious-Well equipped-Superb!

  • 5 of 5

We have 2-3 self catering holidays a year and as we are around the 70 mark think we are fairly expert on S/C apartments so have no hesitation in saying this is about the best we have ever stayed in.

First impressions were that it was spotless, very well equipped for up to 6 people and spacious.

All the fixtures, fittings and utensils were of a high quality.

Being just the 2 of us we only used one bedroom but the other was well equipped with en suite and a small balcony.

The lounge area is very comfortable and of a good size to easily accommodate 6 people.

Kitchen is very well equipped with all you could need and a massive fridge/freezer!

There is a satellite TV which although picks up hundreds of channels only a few are in English but there is a DVD/CD player with films and CD's available and as we brought our own there was no problem.

The main balcony was of a good size and also had umbrellas which we needed for the sun and where we watched the fantastic sunsets also we were visited most nights by a Little Owl which perched on the building opposite.

For 'sun worshippers' there is a large private roof terrace with superb views all around.

The complex is very large but as the apartments are in small blocks of 4 you don't feel it with all the trees and shrubs which are well cared for. There is also a nice pool to use for the Yasemin apartments and a big communal pool a bit up the hill.

We hired a car for the 2 weeks we were there as the first Dolmus 'off season' is not until 1015 and we like to get an early start touring each day.

This has to be the first apartment we did not have to clean on ARRIVAL and as it ticked all our boxes have no hesitation in awarding 5 stars.

Owner's Response: Hi Sandy and Brian - thank you for you comments and I'm so pleased you found the apartment spotless and well-equipped - particularly as you have visited at the end of another busy season! Good to hear that Karen at Smile Property Management is looking after things so well for us as we are only able to visit once or twice a year at most ourselves. Regards, Christine.

Comfort, tranquility and amazing views

  • 4 of 5

Just back from a lovely fortnight. Excellent weather, very comfortable and well equipped apartment and a well maintained complex. Have stayed in similar places on Bodrum peninsular in recent years but, all in all, this was the best for us. For just over ?1 each way,we were able to take the Dolmus into Yalikavak harbour and town for our shopping and to eat in wonderful restaurants. From the town, it is easy to venture further afield by Dolmus, eg into Bodrum itself. Care hire is relatively cheap but not essential. If going at end of season, though, the winter bus timetable (from 16 september) is less frequent but a taxi ride back to the resort will cost about ?10. Swimming pools were very clean and well maintained. On site restaurant and shop were fairly limited but easily able to cater for immediate needs. Staff were very friendly and the transfer arrangements were excellent - just over ?30 each way by private car. As described, the complex is situated high up in the hills but the views are stunning and the transport arrangements work well. Yasemin 32 is situated close to the bus stop, to a lovely smaller pool and is a 5 minute walk (admittedly up a hill or steps) to the big pool and restaurant area. The resort itself was quiet and peaceful with a good mix of nationalities as tenants and/or owners. If you like the freedom and flexibility of self-catering in a secure and relaxing environment, this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Hi Miriam, so glad you had a lovely break. Unfortunately, because of other committments, we only manage to visit once or twice a year ourselves but we are in close contact with Karen at Smile who tries very hard to keep everything in order for us. We always hire a car so it's good to hear that those not wishing to drive themselves can get around easily by public transport which we know is very cheap to use. However, as you say, if you just wish to relax on site in lovely surroundings you don't really need to go anywhere! Please let us know if you would like to visit again and we would appreciate any recommendations you would like to make to family or friends. Anyone wishing to book during UK School Holidays should do so quickly as we already have a booking for August 2014! Thanks again, Christine.
