About the property

3 bedroom, 4 bathroom Townhouse, sea view, town view, mountain view

You will be right in the heart of the old town of Olhäo. 1 minute walk from the fish and produce markets at the waterfront. Restaurants, cafés, bars, shopping, banks are literally a minute away. 3 minutes walk and you can catch ferries to three beaches that stretch for miles. No need for a car. The house has two roof terraces. One perfect for meals, and the top one for sunbathing, drinks and stunning views; rolling hills to the north, ocean to the south, and the old charming city center of Olhao all around and mostly below you!

Stepping into our house you´ll have the spacious living room directly to your left. Sitting area, dinner table and an open kitchen make up an inviting entity. TV and wifi installation is to be found here, as well as a toilet. On first floor, master bedroom and a smaller extra room. Master bedroom has a french balcony and an on suite bathroom. It is spacious. A comfortable double bed and plenty of wardrobes make this bedroom complete and very inviting. Next to master bedroom you find our extra room, which can be used as a bedroom, with a fold down double bed. Right next to it, there is a separate bathroom, with bath tub. On the second floor there is a small hallway leading you out to the open. This, our first terrace has a large dining table, and is perfect for dining. Please use the charcoal grill every evening! Local products - fish and seafood and meats - are simply the best! On cloudy and windy days (hardly ever in summertime) you find shelter for reading and relaxing amongst pots and plants. On this floor you also find a spacious bedroom, with a double bed and an on suite bathroom. Finally a few words about the pearl of our house - the top terrace! Well, this is just where you want to be, when not on the beaches or "out and about". Sun chairs and sitting chairs and a table, and half of the area in shade -yes sometimes you really need to cool down a bit... And then this wonderful view that made our tenders name our house "Casa Vista", "House with view". Our top terrace is a wonderful place for contemplating as well as observing and enjoying town activities. And yet you can choose total privacy here. Laying on the sun chairs only overflying storks and swallows know you are there.

Best location of an outstanding townhouse in a genuine Portuguese town. Our house is in a very good condition. In 2015 we installed new shower cabins and re-painted the master bedroom. Walls of the two terraces also reconditioned. Optical fiber installed, meaning very fast and reliable wifi and TV, with no extra costs for our guests. In 2016 AC was installed in living room and both bedrooms. For a townhouse it is unusually large. 2 spacious bedrooms with on suite bathrooms and an extra room with its own bathroom. But you must not be afraid of stairs... 3 floors plus the top terrace will keep you in good shape - and the reward is always waiting for you having climbed all the way to the top: a stunning views! Mountain range to the north, ocean to the south,

and the town it self all around you.

And remember the larger terrace on the way up; perfect for dinners and shelter on windy days. This is where we spend most of days winter time.

And Olhao is wonderful. We simply want to spend as much time here as possible.

Until we leave our jobs in Sweden, we share this pearl with others enjoying and appreciating the good life in one of the best corners of Europe. Perfect for walking and biking and boating and fishing. Excellent bus- and train connections. Golf courses within close range.

Coast/Beach:

Olhão is located in the Ria Formosa lagoon inside the barrier islands. A bird watcher's haven and seafood lover's paradise.

The long sandy beaches are located on the barrier islands, easily reached by scheduled ferry service from the harbor.

Armona island is the closest with its breathtaking beach, restaurants and cafés. Farol island has two destinations - Culatra and Farol. Picturesque fishing villages with cafés and restaurants. Beach bars are open on Farol and Armona beaches in the Summer.

Travel:

Faro airport is 15 minutes away. 20-25 euros by taxi (if you don't rent a car).

Car hire is not necessary if you are not planning doing a lot of sightseeing.

10 minutes walk to Olhão train station. Regular trains and buses for the rest of the Algarve coast and Lisbon (via Faro). Daily bus service to Seville in Spain.

Olhão is on the coastal road EN125 and has good access to the motorway. This makes access to all tourist attractions, water parks, golf courses and even Spain very easy.

Distances:

Faro 10 minutes. Tavira 15 minutes. Albufeira 30 minutes. Spain 30 minutes. Seville 2 hours. Lisbon 3 hours.

Further Details:

Olhão has a superb local character as yet untouched by tourism. A must see is the local market on the seafront where you can pick up freshly caught fish everyday (except Sunday). Next to the fish market is the indoor produce, meat and cheese market. Fresh bread and pastries in great bakery on "your" street. Well stocked super market minutes walk from the house. British and foreign newspapers available in news stands. It is a large town with plenty of restaurants, particularly specializing in seafood. The new shopping center has a cinema.

Around the villages of Moncarapacho, Quelfes, Santa Luzia there are some fantastic local restaurants. The best olive oil is produced locally. Guided tours can be arranged. Owner will be more than happy to give away his local treasures and haunts if you ask.
