About the Owner

Hello, Vittorio and I (Andrea) live in Brussels and have been happily married for over 30 years. Vittorio was born and brought up in Treviglio, Italy and I was brought up near Watford, Hertfordshire. We spend all free time either in Treviglio, Lombardia or Aldeburgh in Suffolk. Both are within a day’s drive from Brussels. We have three grown up children and they love both Italy and England and stay with us in Treviglio or Aldeburgh whenever they can. Such a treat for us also to spend time with our gorgeous grandchildren!

Lovely comfortable cottage!

  • 5 of 5

We totally loved staying at Pear Tree Cottage. Location is fabulous and the cottage was very comfy. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything you would need (and more) This is our 5th visit to Aldeburgh, but the first time to Pear Tree Cottage - it most certainly won't be the last. Thanks Andrea for allowing my mum's dog to come along too - she was most grateful. The bedrooms are large and airy. The power shower is fabulous - lots of hot water!

Great holiday home and we'll be back.

This is a family home and that's what makes it feel so comfortable.

Thanks again!

Paradise by the seaside

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay. The location is superb as the cottage is near a cinema, a great bookshop, lots of cafes and restaurants and most importantly moments from the beach. As it's set back from the road we found it to be very quiet. The cottage is in excellent condition, full of charm and well appointed with a cook's kitchen, plenty of cooking utensils, crockery, glasses and cutlery, serving-ware etc and new linens. The furniture is comfortable and in good condition. Lots of space inside and outside to sit. Benefit of front and back gardens to sit and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and sea air. Andrea was always available to answer out queries. Aldeburgh is a lovely town and an easy drive to nearby attractions. Highly recommend!

Charming cottage

  • 5 of 5

Such a lovely cottage in the most perfect location. Very spacious and better equipped than any holiday cottage we've stayed in; every kitchen utensil, DVDs and even a toy box! The garden is a delight - front, back and terrace...three areas to choose from. Such a treat in a central location. Thank you!

What a lovely cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage does not feel like a holiday let, because it isn't ! It is very much a family home and we were lucky enough to be able to share and enjoy all the amenities, nothing is locked away. The secret garden is charming, the boys enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies and the snug area was much used by young and old alike. This was our first visit to Suffolk and we were all very impressed. Aldeburgh itself has a lot to offer, the High Street has an eclectic mix of shops, delicatessens, art galleries and an amazing butcher! The Taylor Family

Lovely seaside cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a truly lovely and spacious cottage right on the high street and less than a minute walk from the beach - the location could not be better! We stayed here as a family of five with three children aged 2 - 7 and we all had a super time. The beds are very comfy, there is a cot and a high chair and even a box of toys for the kids. Aldeburgh is great for families and there is so much to do in the surrounding area - we visited Framingham castle, Easton Farm Park and Africa Alive. Such fun and we are already planning a return visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you Joey, so pleased you had a good holiday and hope you will all return to Pear Tree Cottage very soon. I would just like to add that the cottage is indeed on the High Street but set far back from the road, in a quiet spot.

Delightful Cottage

  • 4 of 5

What a charming and delightful cottage. Deceptively large with a real homely feel, we spent a wonderful Christmas here and really felt like we were at home and not in a holiday let. Perfect location for the high street and all its lovely shops and the beach. I could have done all my Christmas shopping here!

We will definitely come and stay here again - perhaps when the weather is a little more settled. Lots to do within a short drive and even better if you like dog walking - the small terrier dressed as a Christmas pudding won our vote .

Location

From the Owner

Having previously lived in the UK and Italy, we were overjoyed when in the early eighties we managed to buy this property from old friends of the family. Over the years we have updated where necessary but nevertheless tried to keep the original character of the cottage. Still resident in Brussels we visit Aldeburgh as often as possible. We love the friendly atmosphere, the walking and ever changing sea. There is always so much to do and see in the area as well as tweaking the cottage and garden into shape. Our children have always loved spending time there and now we have the joy of our grandchildren visiting us on our trips over. Being a home from home the house is very well equipped and there are plenty of books, games and toys.
