A beautiful 3 double bedroom apartment situated on the original golf course in the quiet residential area of Las Rocas.

About Ian Wilson

We are Gill and Ian Wilson, living in Cheshire. We first visited Fuerteventura twenty years ago, when there were only three restaurants in town and three petrol stations on the whole island!

Four years ago, after years of returning for family holidays, we fulfilled our dream and bought our apartment on Las Rocas.

We don't play golf....yet, but we are definitely going to start, especially as there are two courses on our doorstep!

We have two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, Ozzy (I love Black Sabbath) and Alfie (Gilly doesn't!).

We love the island, the all year weather and our friends. It's just a fantastic place to have a great time.

Why Ian Wilson chose Antigua

We love Fuerte. The weather means you can get a tan even in December.

The island offers the best beaches anywhere outside the Caribbean with the sea temperature never below 18c.

The average annual temperature is 23C, so it is just a great all year round climate.

If golf's your thing, there are two 18 hole courses within minutes and if it's not, then there are so many things to see and do. If you just want to chill, this is just the place.

The apartment backs on to National parkland and is in a quiet residential area on Las Rocas. There is a communal pool which is accessed only by an electronic card, which means it is very quiet.

This is a fabulous apartment, in a fabulous location and with fabulous weather. Enjoy.....

What makes this apartment unique

There are 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one is en-suite. There is satellite TV, Wi-Fi, washing machine etc...all the stuff you need to have a home from home is provided for you. Even beach towels.

There is a regular free bus service which can take you into town or to the local beach, although to really get the most of your holiday, we would recommend car hire. We will provide details of the best deals.

If you play golf, this is just the place. Campo de Golf held the Spanish open in 2004 and Las Salinas opened in 2008. The new golf course at Las Playitas is superb.

If not, just enjoy the beaches, pools and great food.

Notes on accommodation: The climate is so good that most accommodation has no heating built in. There are fans available for the summer months. The apartment is very secure with a wall safe provided and secure iron gates. There is security provided by the community and vehicles patrol the area during the day and night, ensuring that all is well. Outside: There are gardens to front and rear. These are looked after each week by our friends and professional gardeners, Donna and Roy. There are patios to the front and rear and a veranda to the rear. There are two sun loungers complete with cushions and also an outside garden table and chairs for the alfresco life. There is an unheated communal pool, 100 metres walk away. Access is gained only by electronic card and is therefore very peaceful. This area has showers, toilets and sun loungers. Utility Room: Includes worktop, washing machine and storage for barbecue. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels, linen and hairdryer are all provided. There is a washing machine and a washing line provided. Other: Large patios and veranda with high quality outdoor furniture and 3 sunbeds. Baby cot and high chair can be provided free of charge.

It had almost everything you need but not really suitable for more than 4 people

It’s was ok but it wasn’t really suited for 6 people. For example:

One room had no storage at all and one of the other rooms had limited storage for clothes etc. Only the master bedroom was ready for holiday use.

The ensure bathroom had drain issues which stuck for a day or two.

The mattresses on the beds could do with renewing.

The indoor dining is for 4 people only.

The property was also not as clean or ready as I would usually expect.

If two to four people wanted somewhere to crash then it would be good enough but a family of six didn’t really work.

A true gem

This villa is in a beautiful position, away from the resort of Caleta de Fuesta, just by the golf course. We had superb weather with barely a cloud in the sky, but not too hot. On Ian's recommendation we hired a car (very inexpensive) and it really was worth it. Ian has provided a very informative and helpful "guide" and we visited all the places he recommends. The roads are very good and weren't busy and everywhere was easy to find. We also visited Betancuria which is well worth a trip, including stopping off at the viewpoints along the way. Great views over the island. The nearest shopping centre "Atlantico" provided all our needs and we didn't venture further than this for food etc. However, this is where the car also came in, as it is a good 20 minute walk away. There is a free bus (we didn't really get to grips with it & ended up on a sightseeing tour of the area!!) if you haven't hired a car. The villa is in a very exclusive part and the photos and details provided are accurate. It is a residential area and was very quiet when we were there. Everything was provided including beach towels and we were really pleased that water and milk were in the fridge upon our arrival. Clive was there to show us around and help us find our feet and he was very knowledgeable and approachable. We loved the terraces at the front and back of the property and there are plenty of chairs, loungers and cushions. The swimming pool area is literally 2 minutes walk away with beautiful facilities and completely deserted! Nice pools and clean toilets.

The beaches all over the island were lovely and the sea was clean. (a bit chilly at this time of year!).You can walk for quite a long way along the front from the Atlantico centre to Caleta town with some cafes/restaurants along the way.

It has been a pleasure dealing with Ian via email as all correspondence is dealt with straight away.

All in all a great find and I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Home from home!

We stayed for a week in this lovely apartment near Caleta de Fuste. It was exactly as described, in a quiet location just out of town on the golf course. We found the property contained everything we needed for self catering, including three large containers of drinking water provided by the owner. The property suited us well as it had a homely feel, simply but comfortably furnished and not 'sterile' like some rental properties. Access to UK tv channels was a plus. The communal pool is just a short stroll away and was very clean and well maintained with plenty of sun beds. Ian the owner was very easy to communicate with, answering all our emails within an hour or so, and Clive who looks after the property was very friendly and helpful, showing us around the apartment and answering the few questions we had. Everything worked well, plenty of hot water etc. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet stay away from the bustle of the main town area, but within easy reach of the facilities and beach. A car is a definite advantage but taxis are readily available. We would most certainly return in the future.

Fantastic holiday

This is an easy review to write, the villa is fantastic, in a lovely quiet spot with all the facilities you can need for self catering. Ian is really easy to communicate with and responds to questions really quickly. I arrived with two teenage boys and we had one of the best holidays, the island is beautiful , great beaches and the people are really friendly. we used the pool everyday. If you stay here i recommend a car, it was my first time on the wrong side of the road and it is easy. We hope to come back for some more relaxing and exploring.

Just amazing

We have returned to this wonderful apartment for the 5th time which just shows how fantastic it is. There has been some slight upgrades including wi-if, smart t.v and some new fixtures and furnishings which has made our stay even more magical than before. Dean and Inger the property managers were absolutely lovely and so very helpful. Caleta de Fuste is a beautiful to stay and when you have a a home from home to explore it from it makes the experience even more special. Thank you Ian and Gill for letting us share your home again and we will be back next year!

Location

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

There are diving schools, wind surfing schools, tennis courts and three world class golf courses. Fuerteventura holds the annual World championship windsurfing competition every year and as such attracts many people from across the world to enjoy the fantastic climate.

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beach is a 10-15 minute walk away, or a two minute free bus ride. Fuerteventura is widely acknowledged to have the best beaches outside of the Caribbean and car hire is the way to see them. Beaches at El Cotillo, The Dunes, Costa Calma and Jandia are amongst the best in the world.

Travel:

EasyJet, Ryanair, Monarch and Aer Lingus all fly to the island. Transfers takes just 10 minutes. Car hire is definitely recommended if you wish to explore the island. If not, there are taxis readily available. We can arrange for our property managers, Dean and Inger to meet you at the airport and give you a personal service at a much more economical rate than by taxi. The charges are 25 euro's for five people for both legs and 40 euro's for 6 people. The latter will involve two trips.

Distances:

Caleta is less than 5 minutes by car or bus. There is an international choice of all kinds of restaurant and the food is excellent and good value. The local market on a Saturday is well worth a visit, where you can buy all types of watches, jewellery, clothing. You get to haggle and it's great fun.

Further Details:

The Atlantico centre is 5 minutes away. There is an excellent supermarket, shops, McDonald's, Burger King, bars, cinema, bowling alley and bank all in this development, which fronts on to the sea.

Further along into the resort of Caleta are all the bars and restaurants you could wish for as well as a myriad of shops and boutiques.
