About the property

2 bedroom Lodge, in Devon with delightful river front extensive gardens, close to the sea and many attractions

Beckford Lodge is a well appointed, detached 2 bedroom property within the grounds of Beckford Cottage, situated in the beautiful Yarty Valley, 4 miles from Axminster (train station and bus stops). The nearest village is Stockland, 2 miles away and the Lodge is almost equidistant between Stockland, Dalwood, Kilmington and Membury. There are good local pubs and many lovely walks. If you want to get away from it all, Beckford Lodge is the place for you. There is much wildlife in the extensive gardens and along the half mile stretch of private riverside. We are close to Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth and Honiton. There is a fantastic and extremely well stocked farm shop open 7 days a week only 2 miles away and we are just 7 miles from the sea. Centrally heated, washing machine, cot available if required. Well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. No smoking.

About Isabel Entwisle

Beckford Lodge is run by husband and wife team Isabel and William who live at Beckford Cottage. They have been in the West Country for many years and would be very happy to help with local regional knowledge. For 2017 and 2018 they will be overseas, but business will be as normal!

Isabel Entwisle purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Isabel Entwisle chose East Devon

The Yarty Valley is just a delightful, peaceful, get away from it all place. This is a stunning part of old England, far enough away from the big lights, yet also within easy driving of Exeter, Taunton and many smaller towns.

What makes this cottage unique

You can enjoy our extensive riverside garden. We have a wonderful farm shop as our closest shop, selling a wide selection of French wines and cheeses as well as local goodies.

Just a short drive to many seaside villages such as Lyme Regis, Beer, Charmouth, Seaton etc

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The River Yarty is relatively small and is normally a tranquil stream, great for paddling and messing about. However, after heavy and prolonged rain, like most rivers, it becomes very fast flowing. The lodge is set well above the river (some 50 yards). Children must be supervised when near the river. Outside: The lodge has its own small enclosed garden to the rear, with garden furniture (table and 4 chairs) and a barbeque. There is a patio to the front with a pub garden style table and parasol. Guests are welcome to enjoy the extensive gardens of Beckford Cottage. Utility Room: Washing machine in garage next door. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included in price, changed weekly unless requested more frequently (small additional charge). Cleaned weekly.

Beautiful setting with wonderful grounds, and close to lots of seaside resorts.

  • 3 of 5

Very clean property with comfortable bed, small but compact with everything you need, didn't realise the bathroom was downstairs which was inconvenient. Upstairs had sloping ceilings and unfortunately one kept banging into things it helps if you are not so tall. It was very quiet at night which was great all you could hear was the owls and birds, really beautiful part of the world and extremely close to the beaches. It would have been a nice touch to include a welcome gift which is now largely recommended by other holiday companies.

Beautiful little property in a stunning location set amongst rolling hills and streams of Devon. Owners were super nice and the farm shop up the road was ideal for all food needs.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here from 13/09/2014 until 20/09/2014 and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and very peaceful and tranquil place to relax and enjoy the countryside. the accommodation is very clean and tidy and comfortable, a nice pub to enjoy lunch or an evening meal is about 2 miles away on the main road (The Old Inn) good prices and food. a good farm shop for all your supplies open 7 days aweek. all in all excellent break.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from spending a fantastic week at Beckford Lodge. Isobel and William were such a friendly and helpful couple and the lodge and gardens are idyllic. We had such a great, relaxing holiday and so much fun in the beautiful gardens. The kids loved the space and paddling in the river, and the cottage itself was so peaceful, we loved it and didn't want to leave. We'd definitely recommend this place for a holiday. Thank you.

Typische Landhaus in einem wunderschönem Park

  • 5 of 5
