Overview

Property

Updated: 20-Oct-2016
2 bedroom Lodge, in Devon with delightful river front extensive gardens, close to the sea and many attractions

Beckford Lodge is a well appointed, detached 2 bedroom property within the grounds of Beckford Cottage, situated in the beautiful Yarty Valley, 4 miles from Axminster (train station and bus stops). The nearest village is Stockland, 2 miles away and the Lodge is almost equidistant between Stockland, Dalwood, Kilmington and Membury. There are good local pubs and many lovely walks. If you want to get away from it all, Beckford Lodge is the place for you. There is much wildlife in the extensive gardens and along the half mile stretch of private riverside. We are close to Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth and Honiton. There is a fantastic and extremely well stocked farm shop open 7 days a week only 2 miles away and we are just 7 miles from the sea. Centrally heated, washing machine, cot available if required. Well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement. No smoking.

About the Owner

Beckford Lodge is run by husband and wife team Isabel and William who live at Beckford Cottage. They have been in the West Country for many years and would be very happy to help with local regional knowledge. For 2017 and 2018 they will be overseas, but business will be as normal!

Beautiful setting with wonderful grounds, and close to lots of seaside resorts.

  • 3 of 5

Very clean property with comfortable bed, small but compact with everything you need, didn't realise the bathroom was downstairs which was inconvenient. Upstairs had sloping ceilings and unfortunately one kept banging into things it helps if you are not so tall. It was very quiet at night which was great all you could hear was the owls and birds, really beautiful part of the world and extremely close to the beaches. It would have been a nice touch to include a welcome gift which is now largely recommended by other holiday companies.

Beautiful little property in a stunning location set amongst rolling hills and streams of Devon. Owners were super nice and the farm shop up the road was ideal for all food needs.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from spending a fantastic week at Beckford Lodge. Isobel and William were such a friendly and helpful couple and the lodge and gardens are idyllic. We had such a great, relaxing holiday and so much fun in the beautiful gardens. The kids loved the space and paddling in the river, and the cottage itself was so peaceful, we loved it and didn't want to leave. We'd definitely recommend this place for a holiday. Thank you.

However, after heavy and prolonged rain, like most rivers, it becomes very fast flowing. The lodge is set well above the river (some 50 yards). Children must be supervised when near the river. Outside: The lodge has its own small enclosed garden to the rear, with garden furniture (table and 4 chairs) and a barbeque. There is a patio to the front with a pub garden style table and parasol. Guests are welcome to enjoy the extensive gardens of Beckford Cottage. Utility Room: Washing machine in garage next door. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen included in price, changed weekly unless requested more frequently (small additional charge). Cleaned weekly.
