This beautiful contemporary mews cottage is ideally situated in Fore Street and most importantly has an integral garage. Everything in Shaldon is within walking distance from the house. We have furnished the house to a high standard and benefits from a 48 inch flat screen TV, fully fitted kitchen diner with fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and a private fully enclosed decked garden with outside seating. You have full use of the garage during your stay.

Lovely place to stay
We really enjoyed our stay in this cottage in Shaldon. The cottage is small but nicely done out, with decor and facilities all feeling very new. It was spotlessly clean throughout. Having the garage beneath was very handy, with parking being at a premium in the village. The bathroom is pokey and requires a little coordination to use, but that didn't cause any problems. The property as a whole is tremendous value for money and we had a great time in this lovely part of the world.
This was our second visit and this time we brought friends along and loved it as well. Interesting English seaside town with lovely bars, restaurants and walks. Comfortable and clean with everything you could want. Will definitely go again.Parking underneath a godsend.
We stayed for a second time at this great little getaway in Shaldon , this time we took friends and they weren't disappointed . It's well situated in the town , just a stroll from some great pubs and restaurants . The cottage is clean and modern with a large kitchen diner and a decking attached . Parking conveniently underneath .quiet, relaxing. Definitely going again
Good Stay - Comfortable and Convenient
A lovely place to stay. Living room / kitchen is big, pleasant and well-equipped. Plenty of good pubs and cafés within a short walk. Garage is a real bonus as parking would be difficult. Definitely recommend it.

Dirty and in need of TLC
Arrived at the property last Saturday - what a let down. As we opened the shutter for the garage, only 1 of the 6 light bulbs were working - an ominous sign. Walking up the dirty carpet we were faced with bundles of dust/hair from previous guests that had not been vacuumed. A number of downlights in the living area were actually hanging out of the ceiling. The smoke alarm in the kitchen had been removed and placed in a drawer. The sofa covers were dirty with the inevitable dust/animal hair underneath. Upstairs was no better, the smoke alarm fell out of the ceiling when tested, the shower screen was black with mould, mouldy silicon around the bath and a mouldy bathmat. One of the blinds in the bedroom was broken and therefore would let in light from dawn. Overall, the property is in a very poor state of repair and we would not recommend staying there. Such a shame that the new owners did not see fit to visit or put right the shortfalls before renting out for the season. We contacted them via SWCottages on the Monday of our visit and they have yet to respond. Anthony and Katarina did do what they could to put some of the minor issues right but they were fighting a loosing battle and much remains wrong with the the place. I pity the guests who will be there throughout summer. Avoid.
We have stayed at this lovely house on 2 occasions and will be going back again in 2014. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our stays there. The location is really good, right in the heart of the village. A charming village with all the necessary shops, pubs and cafes within walking distance. A Morrisons supermarket is a couple of miles away. The house has everything you need and is very comfortable. One of the best things is the off street parking (hard to find in Shaldon). Drive straight into the garage via the remote controlled door and then direct access into the house. No worries about the rain!
We book from Australia and have always found Matt and Suzie excellent to deal with. Never any problems. I would highly recommend the Shaldon cottage and look forward to going back in 2014.
Activity and Interests
There are 2 beaches in Shaldon, the estuary beach is 5 minutes from the house and the Ness beach is 10 minutes.
Exeter Airport is 20 minutes away. The nearest station is in Teignmouth approx 20 minute walk which has links from Cornwall to London and the North.
Shaldon is 20 minutes from the M5 Motorway. You will not need a car to get around Shaldon but if you plan to get out and about in the local area then a car will be needed.
The town of Teignmouth is approx 20 minute walk away or a short ferry boat ride from Shaldon Beach.
Torquay is approx 20 minute drive away. Paignton Zoo is approx 30 minute drive away. Shaldon has a small Tourist Information Bureau where you can pick up more details on places to visit.
Shaldon has so much to offer including 5 pubs all with restaurants and there are a further 4 more places to eat and a Fish and Chip Shop all walking distance from the house. There is a small Londis shop selling basic groceries. There is also a butcher, baker, newsagent, post office with cashpoint machine and Internet access, a couple of gift shops and art gallery. Activities within the village include an Approach Golf Course, a small Zoo, 2 beaches and The Botanical Gardens. Teignmouth offers more shops and cafes/restaurants, crazy golf, a park, a pier and a Lido Pool (seasonal).

Please pay 25% of the total rent (subject to a minmium of £100) at the time of booking and the remainder within 4 weeks of your stay. We require a £200 damage deposit (this will be returned to you immediately once the house has been checked after your stay). School holidays are slightly more expensive.
We are flexible on changeover days as we offer daily rates. Please leave the house by 10am on your departure day. The house will be available from 2pm.

Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds. Please ask for weekend rates - the automatic calculation on the website does not allow for standing charges therefore the nightly rate will be more expensive than quoted.
