About the Owner

Our affair with France started in the 1980s, along with our four young daughters we travelled to Brittany for our first taste of France. A wonderful time was had by everyone and we returned home glowing after a really lovely holiday. We continued our affair and visited other regions over the years. Our family increased with the addition of two boys and then grand children. Our visits to France then became a quest for a property enabling us to spend more time and giving us more scope to explore. We eventually found our lovely house and we have spent some years renovating which has given us a great deal of pleasure. It is our pleasure to invite visitors to stay in our renovated Gite and experience the joys and secrets of France for themselves.

This is our first visit to this region in Brittany. The accommodation was excellent and we were made very welcome. The countryside is charming and has beautiful walks along the river. Had a wonderful relaxing time here and hope to come back in the future. T and M (Ireland).

Our first visit to beautiful Brittany and this lovely cottage is an excellent base to explore the area and relax. Susan and Clive were excellent hosts and we will no doubt be back. A and M (Scotland).

What a beautiful place and such a beautiful area, time has gone so quickly. Many thanks for everything. B & P (England)

Very relaxing, chilling and so peaceful. Would recommend a bike ride to Pomeleuc and Lantillac for lunch. T & D (Jersey)

Great liitle cottage in a lovely rural setting.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Hirondelle for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the rather changeable weather. We were initially a little disappointed to find that there was no internet despite it being advertised, but this turned out to be a blessing and contributed to our really relaxing stay without continually checking emails. There is free internet at the Tourist info office in Josselin if needed. The owners were away during our stay but were still very helpful, dealing with any queries over the phone.

The cottage itself can not be faulted. Spotlessly clean and exceptionally well equipped, particularly with kitchen equipment. The only thing missing was a pot large enough to cook moule. A very minor gripe as we took our own anyway. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable, the bedroom in particular was large, bright and beautifully furnished and the shower room more than adequate with plenty of hot water. The location is great. Loads of good walks from the cottage along the river and canal, only ten minutes from Josselin and a great base for visiting other places in the area. Vanne is a great place to spend a day, and Lizio, 15k away is a real treasure.

Great week. Thanks to the owners for ensuring that we had a good stay despite their being away at the time.

Delightful holiday

  • 5 of 5

Eleanor and I had a truly lovely holiday.

The gite was charming in a beautiful and peaceful location - a wonderful place to chill out and unwind.

The stairs were quite steep and this could present a problem for those with mobility problems - but if you are fit and active they only add to the charm.

Lovely garden and views - teaming with wild life.

Once chilled there is lots to do locally and we really enjoyed the market and Medieval Festival in Josselin. Driving was hassle free with nice quiet roads.

Brittany was a delight.

A wonderful holiday!

A perfect holiday

  • 5 of 5

We agree with all of the positive comments made in the other reviews and will definitely consider returning. The owners were unobtrusively helpful and very friendly. The access to the Nantes-Brest canal is a five minute cycle and opens up many kilometres of flat cycling. Josselin, the nearest town, is an absolute delight. Market morning on Saturday is a must as is a visit to the Church. We also liked Pontivy which again offered some good cycling opportunities. We hope you enjoy your stay a much as we did.

Looking forward to a return visit !

  • 5 of 5

We have visited this property many times, due to it's tranquil yet convenient location. The area is beautiful, and full of medieval charm, and close enough to take trips to the beach.

The hosts, Sue and Clive are always accommodating, and in our experience, will go the extra mile to ensure that your holiday is perfect.

We have already booked our week for September, and are looking forward to introducing our granddaughter to the delights of this area. We're all eagerly anticipating our well earned escape to this haven in 'real' France :)

The cottage was everything described and more. Walking into the property felt like being cuddled. We enjoyed a very pleasant 2 weeks . Mostly spend just chilling in the beautiful gardens, watching the abundant bird life.

Sue and Clive ( the hosts) were very welcoming and friendly. Even supplying us with fruits grown in the grounds .They always made themselves available to answer any queries and had plenty of information about the surrounding areas.

On the whole this was one of the most relaxing holidays. A real home from home.

Will be returning and would recommend to all.
