Three charming holiday cottages with many period features. Two 2-bedroomed single-storey cottages, and a 1-bedroomed two-storey cottage on the same site. Book whichever one best suits you, or book more than one cottage if holidaying with friends/family. Each of the cottages are fully equipped for a comfortable stay, and Rated 4-Star by Visit Britain. Saxmundham is an ideal base for exploring the unspoilt Suffolk countryside and coastline and the many attractions of East Anglia. You will be within 30 mins drive of Southwold, Halesworth, Woodbridge, RSPB Minsmere, National Trust Dunwich Heath (AoNB), the English Heritage castles at Orford and Framlingham, and much more... It is the perfect place for a relaxing break - at any time of year. Just 4 miles from Snape, and 8 miles (15 mins drive) from the popular seaside town of Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Ideal location for walkers, bird-watching, golfing holidays. Only 90 mins from London by train - making it perfect for short breaks too. Just 500 yards from shops, pubs, cafes, and award-winning restaurants. Small, well-behaved dogs made very welcome (at no extra charge).

Corner Cottage has just been totally refurbished, and has many characterful period features throughout - such as vaulted ceilings with exposed beams.

Its open-plan living room and kitchen/dining area is divided by its stunning central feature fireplace. There is a farmhouse-style kitchen with dual-fuel range-style cooker, butler sink, large fridge-freezer and a dishwasher. The oak dining table seats 4 people.

The main bedroom is off the living room, and has a double bed - antique pewter style metal bedstead with sprung & Memory-foam mattress. The 2nd bedroom can be made up as either a kingsize double bed or as twin single beds.

The Bathroom has a bath, with Power-Shower over, shaver point, and heated towel-rail (for cosy, warmed towels). There is a full-length mirror is in the lobby.

'Corner Cottage' is fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Laundry facilities and a Courtyard at the back can be provided as optional extras for longer stays

A cosy little cottage. Fully modernised, clean and very well equipped with good storage. Handy location for shops, restaurants, train station, beaches and local attractions. Dawn was most helpful without intruding on our privacy.

Excellent Accommodation

Really enjoyed our stay at the Corner Cottage. Excellent accommodation and made to feel very welcome by the added touches. Great base for exploring the beautiful surrounding area and minutes walk to the train station. Saxmundham is a lovely town and will definitely be back. Will be recommending to friends and family.

Wonderful time

Tired and delayed by the joys of the Dartford tunnel, Corner cottage was an oasis of calm serenity. The comfortable beds and cosy kitchen provided a place to feed, water and rest two tired boys and Molly our dog snuggled up in the doggie blankets and gratefully nibbled on the doggie treats provided. We enjoyed our holiday in Suffolk very much, and Corner cottage provided a wonderful base to explore castles, saxon burial grounds and beaches. We would definitely recommend it to our friends.

Saxmundham is such a great location - it's an ideal holiday base. With such good transport links, within a half an hours drive (or less) you can get to all the popular places to visit. There are good local bus services too. And the train station (Lowestoft to London-Liverpool St Line) is a few minutes walk away. (But don't worry - there is no train noise at the cottages!) We love the peace and quiet. The friendliness of the people. The wide open spaces. The unspoilt nature of the countryside, coast and heathland... and the local, seasonal food.

There is Clay-pigeon shooting locally (approx 20 mins drive), where you can also book a beginners' 'have a go' session if you've never tried it before.

There are two vineyards within 30 mins drive - offering tours and wine tastings of some fabulous English wines.

There are several Literary events and Book Fairs locally, plus annual Literature and Poetry Festivals.


Aldeburgh, on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, is just 8 miles away (approx 15 mins drive), and the sandy beaches at Southwold, Dunwich and Walberwick are only around 30 mins drive. Beccles (approx 40 mins drive) is on the edge of 'the Broads', where you can hire boats for the day or half day - whether you prefer a motor launch, row-boat or canoe. You can watch the yachts from the historic harbour at Southwold or the quay at Woodbridge.


250 yards from Saxmundham railway station (don't worry, no train noise at the cottages!). Direct rail service from London-Liverpool St. (journey-time approx 1½ hours) and rail services from all other parts of the country. The cottages are less than 1 mile from A12. 70 miles (approx 1½ hour drive from Junction 28 of M25).

Airports: Stansted or Norwich. Excellent public transport service locally - buses, trains, taxis to all places of interest in the Suffolk Heritage Coastal Region/East.


Places of interest in the region include the ever-popular coastal towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold, the riverside town of Woodbridge, the historic castles at Framlingham and Orford, Halesworth, AONB Dunwich, RSPB Minsmere... all are within approx 30 mins drive of the cottages. Aldeburgh 8 miles. Thorpeness 7 miles. RSPB Minsmere 6 miles. (National Trust) Dunwich Heath (AONB) 6 miles. Benjamin Britten's concert hall at Snape Maltings 4 miles. Leiston (Long Shop Museum, abbey ruins, etc) 5 miles.

Book more than one cottage to accommodate up to 10 people - perfect when holidaying with friends or family.

All three cottages are just 500 yards (5 mins walk) from the High Street, where there is a wide range of interesting independent shops and galleries to browse around, plus those catering for all essentials - a bakers, butchers, newsagents, opticians, chemist and hairdressers. Plus... banks with cashpoints (HSBC and Barclays), Post Office, florist, hardware store, pet shop, an old-fashioned haberdashers shop, off license, several bookshops, two art galleries, a museum, organic produce shop, two supermarkets (Waitrose and Tesco - both open 7 days), several pubs, a wide choice of cafes, take-aways, etc., and an award-winning restaurant.

There is a street-market on Wednesdays - with fresh fish/shell-fish stall. There are several interesting farm shops in the area, each selling local home-grown/home-made produce. The most local is around 1 mile out of the town. There are also a number of events in or around the town during the year, such as: food fayres, craft markets, antiques fairs, literary and music festivals, food and drink events, country and game fairs, dog shows, open-air theatre / concerts.

There is a quaint local pub - called: the 'Poachers Pocket' (10 mins drive, or a pleasant 30 mins walk through the County Park), which is family-run and serves home-cooked traditional meals and local real-ales.

The cottages are just 5 mins walk from the town's High Street, so very convenient for an evening meal out... or just to pick up a newspaper in the morning. The supermarkets are open 7 days a week, until late in the evening. And, there are lots of independent little shops to browse around too.

The towel-radiator heats the room and also dries your bath-towels. A separate hand-towel is provided.

  • Notes on accommodation: Portable fan provided for very hot weather. Free WiFi (wireless broadband internet access) for all guests. Flint Cottage has a log-burner, for cosy winter evenings. There is also, of course, full central heating in all three cottages. Family pets are made very welcome at the cottages. Suffolk is a very dog-friendly county, there are many woodlands, heaths and beaches open to dogs all year round and they will be welcome in most pubs. Outside: At 'Flint Cottage' there is a secure, enclosed garden at the front - surrounded by a white picket fence. At the back of 'Flint Cottage' (accessed via the kitchen), there is a pretty (private) Courtyard garden with pot-plants and garden furniture and parasol for very warm days. At the back of Chapel Cottage, there is a small Courtyard with a table & 2 chairs which can be made available to guests.
