Holiday Home in St. Ives - Just Above Porthmeor Beach, Minutes to Town Centre

The views from this fabulously furnished, modern house are wonderful. Set in the centre of St. Ives just above Porthmeor Beach, famous for its surfing and the Tate Gallery. As soon as you enter the property you know this contemporary house will be a sumptuous retreat. The modern and comfortably furnished master bedroom (king size bed) and bathroom are on the ground floor. The lounge (on the first floor) is furnished with two large sofas, a TV (freeview), a DVD player and stereo to ensure the utmost comfort and encompasses a large sliding window with views stretching from Mans Head, over Porthmeor Beach and across to the Island. The open plan kitchen/dining room area is fully equipped with integrated appliances and dishwasher and quality cooking utensils. The twin bedroom is on the second floor. The lower floor of this property contains the garage with an additional wc, washing machine and large freezer. Outside there is a small courtyard and a patio area with barbecue, seating and washing line.

My name is Emma Haase and I own Ocean Loft along with my husband Simon.

We live in St. Ives and look after the house ourselves - we try to give people a home from home holiday.

The best thing about Ocean Loft is the views - they are stunning and you see the sea from both aspects, we particulaly love the winter and watching the storms out at sea.

Why Emma Haase chose St Ives

We bought the house as an investment instead of a pension. We really love the house - it is modern and spacious with the most amazing views. I only wanted a house I would be happy to live in, I could not rent a house that I would not stay in. I hope all our guests feel this when they come and stay.

Another advantage is the garage - parking can be a nightmare in St. Ives and the location of this house means the car can stay in the garage for the whole stay if needed - if not it is easy to get in and out of St. Ives from here (no oneway system).

Property is very functional, and well equipped.

This property is all about the view, with the doors open, looking out to sea, there is really is no better way of relaxing.

Beautiful property in a beautiful town

We had a wonderful stay in Ocean Loft. It's a gorgeous house with everything you could need. The beds are comfortable, everything was clean and the lounge is very comfortable too.

The views are incredible. I loved watching the surfers every morning.

Definitely will stay again. Loved every minute xx

Great view of two beaches

This is a very nice house with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting area (with good wide-screen TV) and two good bedrooms (with plenty of wardrobe space). The decor is very clean and modern without the "ornaments" that clutter so many rentals. My family and I thought the house's best feature was the generous windows on each end of the living space (on the first floor) with great views of Porthmeor Beach from the sitting area and of Porthminster Beach from the kitchen/dining end. Its least good feature, in our view, was the second WC's location in the garage, three floors below the second bedroom, where it was really not usable. This wasn't too big a problem for us, however, since our daughter and her friend were with us for only 3 days of our 14-day holiday, so sharing the one accessible bathroom was ok during their short stay.

Great views and good location

Location of property in proximity to town and beach is ideal but very hilly.

The view from the window in the lounge is spectacular.

The property is a bit tired in places and the outside seating area is not really useable for dining as the bins are stored in the same area and whole area outside is tatty.

Garage is very tight if you have a biggish car. We have a Mondeo estate and took some serious skilled manoeuvring to get car in, the problem then is once the car was in there was no physical room at the front or back of the car to get access to the washing machine and freezer that are stored in the garage. There is no freezer compartment in the fridge in the kitchen so that was a bit of a pain as couldn't even have ice for drinks.

Restaurants in St Ives are in abundance and good quality. Suggest you book in advance in high season as unlikely to get a table adhoc.

Surf school at St Ives is excellent and beach well managed with life guards which if you have young children is a real comfort.

Good views over the beach

We found the accommodation very pleasant with pleasing views however we were disappointed with the fact that there were two lots of stairs which are very challenging, which were not indicated in the description. The kitchen was quite well equipped but the table mats , kitchen knives and plastic utensils are badly in need of replacement .

Owner's Response: The description clearly states that the house has accommodation over three floors. The master bedroom is on the ground floor, the lounge/kitchen/dining room on the first floor and the twin bedroom on the second floor. Thank you for your feedback about some of the kitchen items needing replacing - I will do this ASAP.

Brilliant situation; great views.

The owner is a good communicator and was very happy to make alternative parking arrangements if we needed them (which actually turned out not to be necessary).

The property is located conveniently in St Ives and, having a garage, makes that side of life easy, for parking in St Ives in holiday time seems to be a regular nightmare for everyone else.

Fabulous position with direct views to the sea. Binoculars would have helped for close-up views of the surfers (you need to bring a pair).

At Easter it was a quiet location.

Modern stairs might be thought tricky if one's agility was limited or one were a bit decrepit but, hey, this is holiday time and you make allowances for that sort of thing if you can, and you are not looking for five star accommodation. Children would have to be watched but that is normal! This looked to us like 4 star accommodation, but a good four stars can be better than five. The view is fantastic. The owner is agreeable. The sea is close by though a little chilly at Easter: plenty of lifeguards about so the swimming was safe. What more does one want?

2 minutes to Porthmeor beach (walking) - fantastic surfing beach, life guarded from Whitsun to October half term. 5 minutes to harbour (walking). 7 minutes to Porthgwidden beach (walking) - small beach with restaurant behind the island. 8 minutes to Pothminster beach (walking) - stunning family beach with gentle waves and award winning restaurant.


St. Ives railway station is less than 10 minutes walk to Ocean Loft as is the bus station. Nearest airport - Newquay (approx 1 hour driving time).
