Farmhouse in Los Romanes, Lake Vinuela, Costa del Sol (Inland), Spain - Quiet Location, 4-5 Min stroll Into Typical Spanish Village With Shops, Bars & Fantastic Restaurants

Welcome to the real Spain. (We are fully registered with the Consejeria de Turismo Y Deporte.) There are still some bargain last minute flights to be had so why not come and see us, this Autumn, Winter or Spring. We welcome guests ANY day of the week, for 2 nights or more, and NOT limited Saturday to Saturday!! Our 160 year old Farmhouse, with 1 double en-suite bedroom & one twin/double en-suite, overlooking olive groves. Plunge Pool (4.6m x 1m) great for cooling off. (For more serious swimmers, or pool games, there is the village pool, a 5 minute walk away, or Vinuela Hotel pool, both have baby pools, and entrance is approx 3 euros to 4 euros per person. We provide secure off street parking area for one hire car. We have lemon, plum & olive trees, on our 800 sqm land. Mountain views. We are situated at the edge of a Spanish village, a 4/5 minute walk into the centre, where you will find two small supermarkets, a typical Spanish bar in the centre with spectacular views of the Lake, a bar/restaurant at the other end of the village (approx 15 mins walk away from the farmhouse). A boutique hotel,in between the two bars, where they do fabulous food, snacks with a stunning view. There is also lovely Indian restaurant, with a fantastic vista, about a 8 minute drive from the farmhouse. There are two restaurants overlooking the lake approximately 8 minutes by car away on the main road, below the village. There is no shortage of places to eat locally. The area is criss-crossed with many tracks-ideal for walking, biking, sight-seeing & exploring this very special part of Axarquia, which is known as the Real Spain. Beaches are 25 Minutes away in Torre Del Mar, and there are many other beaches a little further away. Something for everyone, and there is nearly always a fiesta or celebration going on somewhere locally.

My wife and two children (17 and 11) spent a fantastic two weeks in the peace and tranquility of Tesorillo. Normal life in the UK is hectic / busy / frenetic etc etc etc... so these two weeks were just what the doctor ordered. We booked because of the Trip Advisor comments below and were not disappointed. We loved the peace, the place and the people. Carol and Gordon made excellent hosts and it was lovely to get to know them.

Hola, We are Gordon & Carol. We have lived in Spain for 11 years & are Spanish residents. We spend much of our time enjoying the laid-back life here as we live on-site. We are at the edge of a Spanish village and surrounded by olive groves. We have the goat herd passing by the front door on some days, which is a sight (if not smell) to behold! Fantastic walking (Spring/Autumn/Winter-far too hot in Summer!). In 20 mins by car you can exchange mountain/olive grove views for the beach! Best of both worlds. Our landscaped garden includes a PLUNGE pool and sunbathing area. Perfect location for relaxation/peace & quiet to recharge your batteries, and, of course, to enjoy a lovely cool refreshing drink! A happy, enjoyable, memorable, relaxing holiday, could be on the cards for you-and that is our main aim! Come & enjoy what we have to offer! We'd love to welcome you soon. This property was a real gem. It was equipped with more than I had expected. The location was wonderful and the owners very friendly and helpful. Of particular note were the exacting instructions to the property from Malaga. Super holiday.

Los Romanes Apartment

We can happily recommend this apartment. It was very clean , comfortable and well-equipped. We even had our own sun terrace with lemon tree and idyllic views across the valley.

Owners, Gordon and Carol were so helpful and when we mentioned that we were looking to buy somewhere in Spain, gave us some excellent practical advice.

There was a useful folder with local points of interest and numerous guide books to help plan trips.

The apartment is in an excellent location and within easy walking distance of a couple of local shops and good restaurant and bars. A good location to explore the local towns and villages.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

Peaceful Location

We stayed here 10 nights whilst on a house hunting trip. The owners Carol and Gordon were very helpful and gave us lots of advice and suggestions. Carol contacted us before we arrived to arrange to get us some groceries which was very considerate. The accommodation is well positioned in the village and is within easy walking distance to a couple of bars, a restaurant and 2 small grocery shops. As it was February it was too cold to use the pool and garden but I would imagine in the hot summer months these facilities would be more than welcome.

Fabulous Christmas Getaway

In our opinion the accommodation is located in a perfect tranquil spot with magnificient mountain views from the patio and raised garden. It's situated on the edge of the village allowing for an easy stroll to the local bars and restaurants. It's clean and comfortable with absolutely everything you need. Carol and Gordon are perfect hosts. They go the extra mile to make your stay special, and communication prior to our visit was 100%. Can't think of a better place to spend a relaxing Christmas break and escape the frantic Great British Christmas rush.

A perfect haven

We have just returned from another lovely week staying at Tesorillo, Los Romanes. As ever we received the warmest of welcomes from Carol and Gordon, this being our fourth visit to Tesorillo it now feels like home from home. The apartment. as always was spotless and fresh with everything on hand. Los Romanes has it all, lovely walks, a very good restaurant, peace and quiet , the scenery is breathtaking. Carol & Gordon are around should you need anything, nothing is too much trouble for them, perfect hosts. The apartment is only a stroll to the village, we love the place and cannot wait to go back very soon.

Relaxing holiday in a beautiful location

We had a really relaxing stay at Tesorillo. The villa was just as described, well equipped and maintained, more like staying at a friend's place than a holiday let. The pool was fab, a lovely setting, great for splashing and cooling off, and for serious swimmers (not us in the August heat!) there is the village pool a 5 minute walk away. Gordon and Carol are great hosts, there if you need them with lots of good ideas and advice about the local area. The village is lovely, a short walk away with some bars and restaurants, but the villa is far enough away not to hear any noise from them. We visited Granada, Ronda and several more local towns during our stay - the roads are good, and much quieter than we are used to! The beach at Caleta was good - 20 mins in the car, and quiet even in August. A great place to stay for quiet relaxation, but plenty on offer nearby if you feel like exploring. We have recommended Tesorillo to friends and family, and will definitely be returning!

From the Owner

We brought the farmhouse, which is 160 years old, and featured on 'A Place in the Sun' no less, as we love its peaceful location, & its closeness to the village. We are on the outskirts of the village, but only a four minute walk to the centre. We have the Goatherd & his goats pass our house. The locals walk past, with a cheery word to everyone, they are very friendly and appreciate you trying to speak to them, they will soon put you right (in a nice way) should you get something slightly wrong. Pepe's bar, The Shack, El Charco Restaurant, the local shops, and the new boutique hotel are great places to practice your Spanish! The views of the lake are amazing. There is a bar/restaurant a 10 minute walk away, an Indian restaurant a short drive away. There are two further restaurants on the main road. The two supermarkets in the village provide most day to day needs.

Special interest holidays:

The area where we live is partly Natural Parkland. There are many opportunities for walking, hiking, biking, quads, sailing, golf in the locale. There is also the Monte de Malaga, which has lots of pathways to explore, (about 30 minutes away), on foot or bike, with authentic restaurants to eat in. Not far from the Monte de Malaga, are the Historical-Botanical gardens of 'La Conception', which are on the outskirts of Malaga. El Chorro, approx 1hr 15mins away is a wonderful inland lake area, & are near to El Torcal which is a Natural Park with amazing rock formations. There is an observatory there which opens Saturday eves in the summer months to view the surrounding area! A very special place. There are also many lakes and mountains to explore in the vicinity too, which are lovely, and you will probably pass over some of them on your flight here. The nearest beach is Torre Del Mar-20/25 mins away. There is nearly always a fiesta on somewhere in the local area, please ask for details


Torre del Mar, our nearest beach (24KM) is only a 20-25 min drive-it has a long promenade, beachfront bars & restaurants. Along the coast from Torre is Caletta, a picturesque marina. Further East is Nerja, about 40 mins away. Nerja has fantastic caves, and many diverse beaches, coves & the famous Balcon de Europa. To the West of Malaga are Marbella, Puerto Banus & Gibraltar. Inland there is El Torcal, with unusual rock formations. Monte de Malaga and The Cazorla. Diverse and Beautiful Andalucia!


Malaga is the nearest airport to the farmhouse. It takes approximately 45/50 minutes to get here from the airport. Granada airport is about 2 hours approximately. Car hire is essential - but if you just want a very, very laid back holiday, we can collect you from the airport (at 60 Pounds each way), and take you out and about in our car for day trips at nominal rates. Our car seats 4 adults and baggage comfortably.


We are on the outskirts of the village. It's a 4 minute stroll to the centre where there are 2 small supermarkets, catering for most day to day needs, 2 local bars, a hotel & a restaurant. Velez Malaga, 17KM, is the nearest large shopping centre is 20-25 mins away. At the shopping centre there is a cinema, which plays one English film each week in the multiplex, & a host of restaurants, ranging from Mexican, Chinese, Italian, of course Spanish tapas, as well as the usual 'burger' places.

Further Details:

The shopping centre at Velez Malaga (17KM), is open from 10am - 10pm during the summer, and until 9pm in the winter, has a large supermarket inside where you will find everything you need, food wise, as well as numerous fashion and shoe shops, and the cinema complex. There are lots small local supermarkets dotted around. Mercadona is the main Spanish supermarket in the area. There is also a Lidl in Velez. The nearest bank is at Vinuela, which is the other side of the lake and takes approximately 20 minutes to get to. (Please ask for directions if required & be aware there may be a charge to withdraw money). There is also a post office there too, tho open typical Spanish hours, of 8am - 1030am each day!) In Los Romanes there is an Indian restaurant up in the hills, it would take about 8-10 minutes to drive to, but it does have very good reviews and vistas. If the driver needs a rest, there is an excellent bus service from Torre del Mar (24KM), which will take you into Malaga City (49KM), at a very reasonable cost, the last bus back is approximately 11pm. You can also travel to Nerja (41KM) on the bus, and all the other local coastal resorts - as well as Granada (106KM), which is about a 21/2 hour journey. Please ask us for the latest bus timetable if you wish to use the buses. In Velez Malaga (17KM) you will find the main hospital for the area, and the largest of the local markets is held here on Thursdays. All villages have their own day for the market, please ask if you would like to know the best ones to go to. Hotel Vinuela is situated on the lake, and has fantastic views, they are open for just a coffee or full al la carte menu. There are two restaurants on this side of the lake, about 5 mins drive away, one is a proper restaurant and one is a snacky type place, both have a good and varied menu, and we would recommend the Camping Bar as best value for money of the two.

We are very easy to find, only 50 mtrs along a good track. We will collect you from a local restaurant about (5 mins by car) & escort you to the farmhouse. We live on-site, so if there are any problems whatsoever, we are on hand to sort them out as quickly as possible. We have an above ground PLUNGE pool for visitor use from end April to end of October, weather permitting. By the pool, and also your terrace, there's room for a kiddies paddling pool. Hotel Vinuela also have a fantastic pool for 3 or 4 euros ish p/p. There is also a large pool in the village 4 min walk, again about 3 or 4 euros to get in. Usually open for the Summer months only. The nearest beach, Torre del Mar, is 20 minute easy drive away. There are numerous other beaches & places of interest to visit with Gibraltar only 2 1/2hrs. Granada & the Alambra Palace & gardens 2 hrs away - if you intend on going, it needs to be booked ONLINE-Seville and Ronda are also just over 2 hours or so away....Beautiful Moorish cities, with lots to do and explore! El Chorro is an amazing rock formation where there is a visitor centre, and walks around the area. The Caminito Del Rey, is a walk along the side of a mountain, tickets again, need to be booked through their website, and sell out very fast. If you want details, please ask. The area is known for walking/hiking, bird-watching, cycling, water sports, & most other things, such as boat rides, horse riding etc can be arranged locally.

  • Notes on accommodation: From end April to October, weather permitting, our above ground plunge pool for visitor use (4.6m x 1m), up some steps into the garden area. There are sunbeds with cushions,for your use, table & chairs for pool dining are available. Cot, highchair, baby bath & paddling pool available at extra cost, (as these are hired as required from a reputable local source). There are fans in both bedrooms and heating is available for a winter let. If you require the use of a washing machine we are very happy for you to use ours (see below for charges). We provide FREE WIFI. There are SOME UK TV progs, CD player & CD's, a DVD player & a small selection of DVD's. The bookcase is overflowing with light reading. There are numerous maps & a large information file about the area and places to visit whilst here. This is the real Spain, & we would love you to experience it. If you need any information or help with anything whilst here, we will do our best to assist you. We want you to have a fantastic time Outside: Plunge pool (4.6 x 1m) at the top of the garden, for visitor use, end of April -October, (weather dependent) with pagoda for shade, sunbeds, table & chairs. A terraced area for your use, for alfresco dining, with a table and chairs. This terrace gets the sun from about midday until the sun goes down, although there is shade from the Lemon and Plum trees, & a parasol. Please help yourselves to any fruit in season. If you would like to borrow our small BBQ, please ask. You will be required to provide the coals & CLEAN the BBQ after use. (Bear in mind you are in olive groves and the trees are VERY flamable - please ask before you light it as there are laws about BBQs). You are very welcome to use the garden area. There is space on the terrace for a small paddling pool for the children. If you would like us to purchase one for you please let us know before your arrival, as these are brought specifically when requested. There is parking for one car on the gated, locked, driveway. Utility Room: Airer, iron & ironing board. Owners washing machine is available for use if necessary. Just ask! (4 euros per load if you supply washing liquid 5 euros per load if we supply washing liquid). Linen & shower towels provided. if your stay is more than 7 nights, clean linen and towels will be provided for you to change. Swimming/Beach towels can be hired at 5 euros each per week. (why not save space in your luggage for more important things!!)
