Les Grand Chênes stands in over three acres of land and takes its name from the oak trees that are so prevalent on its estate which offer natural shade. From its perched position surrounded by orchards and vineyards it is endowed with far-reaching views over the surrounding picturesque villages of Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste and to the distance, Mont Ventoux. This recently acquired spacious property has been newly decorated and furnished in a typical modern Provencal style and has all new appliances. There are multiple outside dining areas including a stone pergola which covers the entrance porch providing a cool idyllic shaded area and a grand terrace with spectacular views across the valley to Bonnieux. To the side of the house on a lower terrace the large heated pool lies in an open glade and above it, a brand new all-weather tennis court. Surrounded by the stunning Luberon countryside, Les Grand Chênes enjoys a calm and peaceful location.
We are a married couple living in Geneva, Switzerland who love the Luberon and spending as much time as we can there. He (Robert - British) is a Drilling Manager and she (Gene - Irish) is an Accountant in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Gene Adams purchased this in 2008
Les Grands Chenes ('The Large Oaks') is very sympathetically located and is strategically positioned with brilliant views across the countryside to the Luberon mountains, Lacoste & Bonnieux. We have total privacy and tranquility, as well as having easy access to some of the best restaurants and lively local events in the region all year round. The house is a dream for us, every time we visit and we continue to hone plans to make it better and better!
Every time we are there the views still amaze us and the annual dynamics of the natural environment. This is a great property to wonder around with old ruins, caves and a variety of locations outside for wining, dining and relaxing throughout your stay. Gene and I a confident a stay at the Les Grands Chenes will be everything you want and more!
Exceptional property, situated beside two picturesque villages. Excellent facilities for all age groups, spacious for extended family members. Perfect location for nature lovers, several forest walks close by.
Highly recommend, will definitely be back.
This has been our second stay at Les Grand Chene and won't be the last. The house and grounds are spacious and ideal for large families with children of any age. The standard of accommodation is very good and the grounds well maintained. The grandparents loved sittng out on the various terraces and the views to the different villages are fantastic. Great for landscape painting! The children enjoyed the freedom of the grounds and the pool is heated and alarmed - so really family-friendly. We have enjoyed exploring the region and the coast is not far, some of the local vineyards are definitely worth a visit! The countryside is very beautiful in the early summer and late September when we have visited, and we found a good choice of local restaurants and shopping.
What a wonderful place to stay. A gorgeous, well equipped villa nestled in an oasis of calm.
Second time staying at the villa with friends, enjoying the pool, the peace and shade of the oak trees and the Provence countryside. Evenings on the patio with a BBQ or eating a meal in the local village, all washed down with local wines.
A fantastic place to stay for families or a group of friends.
Throughly recommended.
This property really ticked all the boxes and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Far enough (5 mins drive) from Bonnieux to feel like you have your own little oasis, but close enough to think nothing of popping out to the fantastic bakery each morning for fresh baguettes and croissants...and back again for cocktails or a wonderful dinner. Tasteful bedrooms and furnishings teamed with a well equipped kitchen, plenty of room to spread out and enjoy your time - what more could you ask for? Two external options for dining, each sitting 10 and one with a simply stunning view out across the valley. Huge table to seat 10 inside too.The pool was a lovely addition and well used during our stay. The fitter of us loved the tennis courts - great to have good sports equipment on the premises too. Lots of lovely nooks to grab some quiet time, with more comfortable seating areas other than the main living space inside meant that we never felt crowded. There were lots of things to keep children amused too, had any of us thought to bring any! :-) less selfish next time perhaps. It's a great base from which to explore, but so welcoming to come home too - on the practical side, well lit at night, not many steps and plenty of space to park multiple vehicles. My biggest worry when hiring somewhere is often what the beds will be like - need not have worried as they were perfect too. Lovely house that really feels like home.
We have recently returned from a wonderful holiday at Les Grands Chenes with a group of friends. It is in a beautiful location with wonderful views of Bonnieux, Lacoste and the Luberon range. The house is beautifully appointed with furnishings in typical Provence style and very well equipped with all modern conveniences. It is a great place to stay both for those who just wish to relax by the pool or read in one of the various sheltered spots, and also for those who enjoy a more active holiday there is a tennis court, boulle area and indoor table tennis. The surrounding area has many beautiful villages to explore by car or for the more energetic some stunning walks. Evenings eating a bbq on the terrace are a wonderful way to end the day. I can thoroughly recommend the house to anyone wishing to visit the Luberon.
