Villa Apartment in Muo, Kotor, Montenegro - Seafront Location 10 Minutes Walk to Kotor Old Town

This spacious apartment, on the ground floor of a 400 year old villa, is located on the waterfront in tiny Muo. It is a brief 10 minute walk to the historic old town of Kotor with views across the bay and meters from the sea. It has been completely renovated and refurbished to include air conditioning and double glazing but retains the old charm of the building in big beams and thick walls. There is a rear patio for alfresco dining. Parking is available to the front by the water's edge and Tivat Airport is only a 15 minute drive away. The Old Town is a UNESCO world heritage site with a spectacular fortification wall which surrounds it and is lit up at night. Kotor has many churches and monasteries within its walls but also offers all the comforts of a modern city with restaurants, bars, internet cafes and ATMs. The beaches at Budva are less than 30 minutes away. Picturesque Perast is 20 minutes in the other direction, 20 euros in a cab or a euro on the regular Blue Line bus service, which goes right past the apartment.

Spacious and Comfortable

We had a wonderful time staying in this apartment it suited us perfectly. We are a family of five with three tall teenagers, the apartment is attractive and spacious with comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and a very generous sized bathroom. The outside space is tranquil and tucked away from the road - a great place to have breakfast or a quiet read with a glass of something chilled. The location is fabulous, just a short walk from Kotor old town and literally across the road from the Fjord. Would not hesitate to recommend.

A FABULOUS HOLIDAY DESTINATION

I just wanted to let you know we had an absolutely superb time in Kotor. Your apartment was simply perfect for us and very comfortable. Dan from the management co was very helpful also and it transpired he had spent quite a lot of time in his earlier days in the town where I was born and grew up !!!

We absolutely loved kotor and the surrounding bay - when we went on a little drive along the coast past Budva etc we were delighted we had not chosen to stay in those incredibly crowded places.

Thanks again for the use of your apartment. It was absolutely perfect for our needs, well equipped, very comfortable and spacious. I feel we may well return.

We bought in Muo because we fell in love with this part of Montenegro: it's stunningly beautiful, it's an affordable place to holiday. The people are delightful and the weather fabulous. It's a still relatively undiscovered bit of coast land within four hours of London.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

The location provides the perfect launch pad into the myriad other options Montenegro offers: rafting in the Tara Canyon and visiting the Durmitor National Park are a half day drive away; kayak or fish on Lake Skada for a day, visit Perast, Herceg Novi, Tivat, all within easy striking distance, less than an hour on away using local and excellent buses. Walks from the apartment itself are many, varied and as rigorous as you want them to be; up the hill directly behind the apartment or on the wall behind the Old Town, views are spectactular.

Coast/Beach:

The coast is 295km long with 72km of beaches. The nearest pebble beach in Kotor Bay is immediately to the front of the apartment, and there are many excellent sandy beaches on the Budva Riviera, less than 30 minutes drive away.

Travel:

International Airports: Tivat, Montenegro 5km, Podgorica, Montenegro 65km, Cilipi near Dubrovnik, Croatia 70km. Car hire can be arranged at Tivat or Dubrovnik.

Local car hire is available in Kotor, as are taxis. The excellent Blue Line bus service runs regularly and will take you up and down the coast. A bus can be caught meters from the apartment.

Distances:

An easy 10 minutes walk to Kotor, the ancient town of Perast and its islets is a 30 minute drive away (20 euros in a cab or 1 on the bus). Along the coast heading south is the Old Town of Budva and Sveti Stefan, both of which are less than 1 hour drive.

Further Details:

The local currency is the euros. There are plenty of banks and ATMs where currency can be changed. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Local seafood is excellent and mussels which are farmed in Kotor Bay are an added bonus and very cheap. There are also many excellent walking trails nearby. Nearest convenience store is less than a three minute walk from the apartment. Enjoy Saturday morning fruit, veg and fish market outside Kotor Walls and evening markets of art and jewellery. Montenegro is subject to both water and electricity cuts, these are out of our and our property management team's control.

A 20% non-refundable deposit is required on booking; final payment must be 4 weeks prior to arrival. A breakage deposit of 100 euros is to be paid to our local property management company who will show you the apartment, and be on hand to give you advice and tips. A 25 euro charge is levied for out of hours (before 0800 and after 1900) and Sunday arrivals. A local tourism tax is payable to the authorities on arrival. 80 Euro cents per adult per night, 40 Euro cents 12 - 18's. Under 12's exempt.

We can enjoy the quiet 'village' feel of Muo and take a ten minute walk into the beating heart of Kotor to eat, drink, listen to the strains of music than emanate from dozens of bars. Perfect. We can see the lights of the Old Town from the flat, we can enjoy a sundowner or a swim just feet from our own front door. And then walk out for dinner.

  • Notes on accommodation: When renovating the apartment, the architect suggested we add a third bedroom but we didn't want to compromise the space nor did we want to interfere with the integrity of the apartment's many old features, so it remained a two bedroom apartment with bags of space. Please be aware this is an old renovated apartment, not a new build. Outside: The rear patio is perfect for alfresco dining. The sea front, just a matter of 25 meters away, offers safe swimming and fabulous views of the Old Town. Utility Room: Iron and ironing board provided as well as clothes racks for drying. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning service prior to and post visit. Towels and linen provided. Other: The feeling of space in the apartment is further enhanced by a small hall between the living area and the bedrooms and by the deep window sills.
