About Louise Kay

I am English and have lived in the UK for the past 13 years, having previously lived and worked overseas for over 20 years in East Africa, the Middle East and South America. We visited Mallorca for the first time in 2003, toured the entire island and fell in love with the relatively unspoilt and more tranquil north of the Island with its spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. We purchased our villa in 2003 and it has become a second home for all of us, including our 5 boys and their wives/girlfriends, as we spend most of our family holidays there and always have a wonderfully relaxing and fun time. Especially enjoyable are the evenings spent out on the terrace, all the family round the table, a home-made paella, some good local vino and lots of banter!

Louise Kay purchased this villa in 2003

Why Louise Kay chose Pollensa - Alcudia

We chose the popular area of Alcanada in the north of Mallorca because of its spectacular coastal and mountain scenery and because it is relatively quiet and unspoilt, yet within minutes, you can be in the centre of the popular holiday resort of Alcudia with all its attractions, endless stretch of sandy beaches, up-market yacht marina, lovely boutiques and fun-filled nightlife! We love the fact that its so easy to hop on the plane, (just a 2 hour flight London/Palma) and within a few hours be out on the terrace enjoying the spectacular views over the Bay and the mountains beyond. Over the past 12 years, we have enjoyed many an evening wandering around the tiny cobbled streets of the Old Town of Alcudia close by and dining in some of the finest restaurants in the north of the Island.

What makes this villa unique

The villa is just a 5 minute walk from the picturesque little beach and beach-bar in Alcanada, ideal for children. For keen golfers, the prestigious Alcanada Golf Club is just 1.5 kms away with its challenging 18 hole course right by the sea, overlooking Aucanada Island and its famous lighthouse. Cyclists can enjoy the challenge of the steep and stunning mountain scenery all around this area. Water sport enthusiasts can take advantage of the amazing sailing, water-skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities nearby. The Old Town of Alcudia is 3 kms away & holds a local market there Sundays & Tuesdays.

For those wanting a more lazy holiday, there is a 5m x 3.5 m private pool at the villa. The fully equipped kitchen means entertaining at home out on the terrace overlooking the pool & sea is easy, relaxed & fun!

Guestbook comments from the owner

"A superbly equipped villa with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday, a real home from home in fact! Fantastic location, stunning views and such a beautiful area. We all had an amazing time and want to come back next year!"

"The villa was so clean and welcoming and lived up to all our expectations! We loved relaxing on the terrace, glass of wine in hand, watching the boats sail past, whilst the kids had so much fun in the pool. Many thanks for a memorable holiday in your lovely home and we'll definitely recommend it 100% to friends."

Homely feel, near to a lovely small beach and beach bar and also only a 15 minute walk to the marina and main beach at Alcudia. Pool is small but deep - was much enjoyed.

Louise was attentive to our needs and gave lots of invaluable info about our stay

Perfect Villa for a fabulous family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Taking 3 teenagers on holiday these days can be tricky, with all the various needs, demands and high expectations of location, amenities and quality of accommodation. 5 minutes after arriving into the villa, I knew it was perfect.

In terms of location, I was concerned that I had not rented a car. No issue - take a left when you exit the villa and within a 10 minute walk (about 650 meters), you arrive at a small and quite beach with a restaurant / bar serving food all day. There’s also a small but functional Spar suitable for the essential needs very close by.

Go right when you exit the villa and within a 13 minute walk (850 meters) you arrive at Alcudia marina with some great choices of restaurants, shops, stalls and pubs. With a lovely atmosphere and family environment it always felt safe, even if I had to go late night shopping which was available until 11pm. At that time, you have a choice to walk or get a taxi home. The taxi rank is very central.

One of the best features of the location was the access to the beautiful sea and the snorkelling off the rocks. Its 30 meters and 146 steps to the rocks which are small cemented areas with steps into the water and sun umbrellas– once discovered, daily visits were essential. The 146 steps back up - but worth it!

The villa itself had everything you needed and more. The kitchen was well equipped with all the necessary essentials for preparing whatever culinary delights you wished, or indeed just heating the take away from the night before. The living room was very comfortable and had the TV (Sky Package), CD player and ox cable for I phones. All the rooms had air conditioning which was critical at night.

A big part of the holiday was the pool and despite previous reviews suggesting the pool was cold – I can assure you, it isn’t. We spent many hours and long days relaxing, lounging around and having lots of fun in the pool and around the villa.

Louise was the perfect host / owner. Her communication in advance of the holiday was very clear and accurate. Her support during the break was highly professional and we always know she had the best interest of my family holiday at heart – and not just the revenue from our visit.

If my kids decide to come with us again next year, my first email will be to Louise requesting available dates.

Fabulous Villa with a Fantastic view

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the villa (4 adults & 2 teenagers) and immediately felt relaxed and comfortable.

The villa is spotless and has everything you need to make your stay easy. We ate at Restaurant 35 which was very good and the staff were really friendly, and only 5 minutes walk from the villa. We also ate in Alcudia and in the Old Town which were both excellent.

The nearest Spar mini-market was 10 minutes walk from the villa, where we bought fresh bread and supplies including wine & beer! We also ate at the villa a few evenings on the patio!

I would certainly return back to this villa and also recommend to our friends!

It is in a quiet part away from the hustle and bustle of Alcudia.

Louise, the owner of the villa is extremely helpful, and is always contactable.

Perfect week at the perfect villa

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic villa!!! Contacted Louise regarding staying at the villa for ironman week so me and some friends could compete in the race and enjoy a holiday after.

The villa is lovely. Huge space, super clean and has everything you could need. Pool is awesome - we spent many evenings in it as it gets the sun until 9pm ish. Rooms are great and the views from the top balcony are breathtaking.

1 mile from alcudia town makes it very easy to pop out to the beach or for dinner but ensures the neighbourhood is super quiet when chilling by the pool.

Would highly recommend to anyone whose thinking of staying here! If I race ironman Mallorca next year I'll be heading straight back here trust me. Beautiful house, beautiful location

Thanks again Louise for a cracking stay and for all your brilliant organisation and constant contact

Regards

Another fabulous holiday at this villa

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to the property and it was as fabulous as we remembered it a year ago. The property is as described, clean and well maintained. Louise is great to deal with and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending. We spent 9 days here and spent most of our days in the pool, early evening was spent on the balcony at the back which is a sun trap and perfect for sharing a bottle of wine (or two) before getting ready for a night out. In the evening we walked to Port Alcudia for something to eat and drink, we went on a boat trip to Formentor which was good and visited the waterpark in Alcudia twice. We are looking forward to coming here again, it is home from home and we didn't want to leave.

Further Details:

Mallorca gets around 300 days of sunshine a year on avarage.

The Port and Old Town of Alcudia are predominantly pedestrianised areas and open all year round, with walkers, cyclists, golfers and bird watchers taking over from the tourists during the cooler months. Many an hour can be spent strolling around, exploring the wonderful variety of local shops from mouth-watering delicatessens, bakeries, fishmongers and local wine retailers to the beautiful clothes boutiques, gift shops and art galleries, or just sitting, watching the world go by whilst enjoying your cerveza, vino and tapas in a local bar! The Old Town is built on the ruins of the ancient Roman capital of Mallorca and excavations are a local feature. It also hosts a fantastic market every Sunday and Tuesday. During the summer months, all along the walkway in the yacht marina, you will find a host of stall holders and artists, selling a wonderful variety of crafts, jewellry, paintings, clothes, toys, etc. There are lots of childrens' attractions in the Port area and an immensely popular Aqua-Park closeby! The Caves of Campanet are a must-see for all ages and less than a 30 minute drive away. There are many cultural/musical events and festivals that take place locally and around the Island throughout the year. The Fiesta de San Pedro del Puerto de Alcudia takes place locally at the end of June and Fiesta de San Jaime de Alcudia end July. There is a taxi rank in the Port and a regular bus service. The closest large supermarket in the area is Mercadona, which is to be found next to the petrol station in old Alcudia, just a 5 minute drive away. There is a hospital in Alcudia, a 10 minute drive away from the villa for any medical emergencies. NB make sure you all take your European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) with you for free medical care.
