Three minutes walk from the centre of the delightful 19th Century spa village of Saint Gervais les Bains is this 30 year old detached chalet which has been fully renovated to provide a contemporary but comfortable home. The chalet which uses much traditional wood to provide the Alpine ‘feel’ also benefits from modern communication systems such as Wireless Broadband and modern audio visual entertainment throughout. Swimming pool in summer and clear mountain air combine to provide the tonic you need. 50 minutes from Geneva Airport, 7 minutes from ski lifts to Megeve-Saint Gervais ski domain, 15 minutes from Chamonix. 1 minute walk from Tramway du Mont Blanc providing direct access to Les Houches, Mont Blanc mountaineering, Tour du Mont Blanc and paragliding take off sites.

About Chris Wilks

We bought the chalet in winter 2008 and immediately fell in love with the views, village and position. Since buying it we have completely remodelled the interior and have enjoyed many lovely weeks in the summer and winter with family and friends. We enjoy skiing, walking, climbing, paragliding, tennis and, curiously, old classic sports cars. We love the chalet as our second home and we hope you will enjoy it too! Chris and Melanie

Great chalet in a lovely town

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year in the same week (Easter Half Term) We had such a good time last year we re booked almost immediately. The chalet is very well set up with fantastic long views of the mountains from the living / dining room. Very well equipped kitchen with everything in the right place. A great environment for relaxing family meals after a good days skiing. This year was very hot and although the snow was patchy they do a great job of keeping runs open. Les Contamines has very good snow. We sat on the large deck a lot this year and looked enviously at the pool, it was that hot. The bedrooms are cosy with very comfortable beds. The children loved the cinema room and the adults appreciated the sauna. We were 2 families with 3 children and the room set up was great for us. There was off street parking for 2 cars and a short 5 minute stroll into town which had a wonderful selection of shopping with 2 mini supermarkets for the essentials and a lot of specialist shops to treat yourself. The ski bus stop was outside the property and a short trip to the lifts. The Mont Blanc tramway is a short walk away. The heating was set perfectly and the showers were hot and powerful. Having a washing machine and dryer meant that we could pack lighter this year and refresh things rather than take too much. The extra fridge and freezer in the garage were also great to store all the extras we took with us. Melanie and Chris were good to deal with and very open and friendly throughout the whole process. If you book this chalet you will not be disappointed.

Great location, lovely chalet, quality throughout

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week in this chalet from 26 March. While the snow was disappointing the blue skies and this beautiful chalet really lifted our holiday. We were just four in the party though had anticipated 6 or 7 and the chalet would have been perfect for the larger group. There is a quality and comfortable feel about the whole chalet. I loved the photos on the wall of the local area. The kitchen is very well equipped with absolutely everything you could possibly need, the Sonos sound system is a real boys toy that was well used. The cinema room (well stocked with DVDs) provides room to spread out while the main open plan living room space is spacious for relaxing at the end of the day with gorgeous views of the mountain and UK TV if you want it. The bins and shuttle bus couldn't be more convenient directly next to the chalet and the main centre is a 3 minute walk away. Sauna was lovely, washing machine and tumble drier a bonus having 2 sons arriving directly from university and private parking at the chalet ideal. Chris and Melanie have been great from the outset. Good communication in response to queries and checking at appropriate points with information etc. Smooth check in and out and local contact available during the stay. Thanks for your excellent timekeeping Valerie. We would definitely stay here again and fully recommend for a family or group holiday.

Fantastic - not a bad word to say about this 5 star chalet!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (ages ranging from 6 months - 60 years) had a wonderful stay in St Gervais, all thanks to this beautifully decked out chalet. It has everything that you could want and more, including an amazing cinema room and sound system throughout the house. The sauna was a real bonus after a day on the slopes. It is perfectly placed to get the ski bus to the Bettex lift which comes regularly to the end of the drive. Valerie was on hand in the resort when we needed anything and Melanie was incredibly helpful throughout the whole booking process, nothing was too much bother. We will be visiting again and can't wait to come again, especially int he summer to test out the pool!

Wonderful stay in a very well equipped chalet

  • 5 of 5

We had yet another fantastic year in this Chalet at St-Gervais. The accommodation is very comfortable and has numerous luxury elements that set it apart from other chalets in the area. The pool was beautifully warm and very welcoming, especially after 6 or 7 hours hiking in the mountains. The sound system, cinema room, and sauna provide that extra level of luxury and mean that regardless of the weather, there is always something relaxing to make it a special holiday. The location is ideal and walking into town for a meal, the market or the odd drink is a five minute stroll.

The attention to detail in the chalet and the stunning location make this a very special place

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week summer break in St Gervais. The chalet is a wonderful base, set up to make everything easy for a family holiday. The children loved the pool and the "cinema room" and we all enjoyed the 5 minute walk down to the village for pizza and ice cream, a glass of wine or an early morning croissant!

The location is very convenient. It is easy to explore the many outdoor activities close by; from climbing trials in the trees to shopping in Chamonix as well as beautiful walks in the mountains.

The chalet is laid out in such a way that there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space as well as having larger communal areas for everyone to get together. It is equipped with everything you would need - including a Sonos system, allowing you to stay in touch with your favourite British radio programmes or choose from seemingly endless play list of music.

The owners seem to have thought of everything to make this an enjoyable home from home holiday.

Further Details:

Located in the French northern Alps and situated at the feet of Mont Blanc, St Gervais has stunning scenery and a wide variety of things to do.

Saint Gervais is a beautiful Savoyard village with a friendly atmosphere. It is home to Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc and has been a popular holiday destination for over a hundred years. There are a number of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and every Thursday morning there is a market and the village's main square is a hive of activity.

The towns of Megeve and Chamonix are just a 20 minute drive away should you wish to explore a little further.

St Gervais has a huge number of activities on offer. It is popular with walkers and cyclists in the summer - it is one of the starting points for the Tour du Mont Blanc. In winter Saint Gervais has a large ski area (over 440 km) which links to nearby Megeve. The Mont Blanc Tramway can be taken from Saint Gervais to the Bellevue plateau (1800m) or the Prarion giving skiers access to the Les Houches ski area in winter. Or it can be taken by walkers or those just wishing to see the wonderful panorama in winter or summer. For those who would like to relax a little St Gervais's famous thermal parc offers complementary therapies and massage.

The village also has a brand new indoor/outdoor pool complex with a 25m pool, a play pool, a paddling pool, an outdoor pool, a sauna and hammam. Also in the village is an olympic sized ice rink, clay tennis courts (with international tennis tournament in June) and

a great mini-golf course. Mountain bikes are easy to hire in the town too.

In summer the summer activity pass costs around 100 euros for a family of 4 or 5 for a week and gives access to the swimming pool, mini-golf, cable cars and activities at the leisure park in nearby Les Contamines.

Notes:

  • Notes on accommodation: The chalet has underfloor heating which is very effective. Because the chalet is laid out over four floors and has balconies and a swimming pool it is best suited to adults and older children. Our young nephews and nieces have had a super time here summer and winter but the under 5's obviously required more supervision from adults. Outside: The outside living space is fantastic. A patio with decking surrounds the pool which is very private and has fabulous views of the Aravis chain of mountains on the other side of the valley. Barbeque'ing is very special and at night the patio is lit with outdoor lighting. The pool is about 30 feet long and is heated in summer to in excess of 26 degrees Celsius. There are outdoor tables, chairs and sun loungers. There is parking for three cars to the side of the drive. Utility Room: In the garage, includes sink washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. Space for clothes drying and hanging. Ski and boot storage in ample garage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Fully laundered cotton bedlinen and towels are included in the price. Reasonable chalet cleaning at the end of your stay is also included. Any other arrangements can be discussed on an individual basis. Other: Second living room in basement lends itself to evening and night-time use and has a high quality audio visual system. Contemporary and 'moody' it is a great place to unwind after the day. Sofas, chairs and wine fridge. Sauna comfortable for 6.
