Ski Apartment in Les Arc 2000, Savoie, French Alps - Newly Refurbished, Ski In/Out, South Facing

A sunny, warm, family apartment on the 8th (ski-in/out) floor of the Le Varet building, 5 mins from shops, restaurants, ski-pass office and ESF meeting points. It overlooks the pistes and resort, part of the huge Paradiski domain. Arc 2000 is linked to the rail terminus at Bourg St Maurice by a free (with ski-pass) 7 minute funicular trip up the mountain and free bus shuttles terminating 150m from the apartment block. Bourg in turn is serviced by the Eurostar snow train from London St Pancras and TGV and night sleeper trains from Paris. In the ski season there are regular bus services from Geneva airport to the resort. Budget airline fly/drive destinations of Geneva, Chambery, Lyon and Grenoble are all less than 3 hours away. In summer, ski lifts are adapted to carry bikes up the mountain and the Arcabulle chairlift, 15 mins walk from the apartment, goes to the very edge of the dramatic, spectacular and unspoiled Vanoise National Park, offering lovely walks amidst magnificent scenery.

Arc 2000 is snow-sure, the apartment is ski-in/ski-out. Arcs 2000 has recently benefited from millions of euros in investment within the last 12 months, including the provision of a new Poma button lift directly opposite the apartment, a new Pré Saint Esprit bubble chair with heated seats from the bottom of the Cascade run, and a new 5* Hotel offering top-class dining to non-residents.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is a family facility which takes paying guests to defray costs. It is therefore decorated, furnished and equipped to the standard we expect for ourselves.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment block is built sideways into the mountain so that the 8th floor, on which the apartment is situated, gives access onto a groomed piste, right outside the flat (piste-bashers pay regular evening visits to just under the balcony, to the delight of kids and adults) and reached on foot 30 seconds up the corridor from the studio front door. Competent skiers can ski in/out; beginners can take lifts to ground floor but still ski directly to short drag lift 150m away which links to entire ski domain. The apartment has central heating plus a wall mounted electric heater in the lounge. Paying Wifi via Internet-Ici in apartment though can be slow at peak times. Free internet widely available in resort. Outside: South facing balcony with excellent views over resort. 2 sun chairs provided. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Single duvets and English-size pillows provided. Take your own duvet covers, bottom sheets and pillow cases, otherwise linen and towels can be hired in resort from our agent. Cleaning service available at 50 euros or clean it as you would wish to find it. Other: Two double wardrobes, each with hanging space and shelves. Purpose-built ski unit tidily stores ski-wear, skis, poles, boots, gloves, hats, shoes and accessories with room for luggage on top. South facing balcony overlooking slopes.

Fantastically well equipped cosy apartment

The best equipped apartment we have ever stayed at, in the perfect location. Located on the 8th floor with direct ski in and out of the ground floor or the 8th floor (if you're brave enough!). We had a week of clear blue skies and perfect skiing conditions. Either get to the Poma lift for 9am when it opens or wait until nearer 10am to avoid the ski school queues. We skied to around 4pm and then sat on the balcony with a cold beer catching the last of the afternoon sun. The perfect end to any day! The apartment itself is a true home from home which will leave you wanting for nothing. Everything you could possibly want is provided. A tip for any overnight Eurostar traveller - as the apartment isn't available until 3.30pm, leave your luggage at the tourist information (2 euro per case) which opens at 8.30am on a Saturday, get changed in the large toilet block below, get your skis and head off for the day. We were on the slopes by 10am enjoying an extra day's skiing.

What a fantastic trip!!!!

The apartment was fab, stocked up for a stress free stay, with all the amenities. The view was breath taking and we were brave enough to ski out from the eight floor straight onto the slopes and up the mountain. The weather was perfect and the snow was amazing. We had three solid days of amazing skiing I would throughly recommend the resort and stay at Rod's. The food there was incredible and we wined and dined liked kings. I will definitely be booking again for next year. An absolute gem of a find and would seriously recommend.

Excellent flat, well equipped, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The flat was as described, ski in ski out was definitely possible. The kitchen was the best equipped we have stayed in, there wasn't a thing we could think of it needed extra. The beds were comfortable and the hot water endless. The owner (Rod) was extremely helpful and friendly and communicated promptly. The skiing in the area was excellent for all abilities. We would recommend taking the cabriolet lift down to 1950 (runs all evening) to do shopping at the 8 to huit and the patisserie (if you haven't a car). Booking the linen and towels needs to be done well in advance; and the concierge is in a different building, it is worth one person heading off to collect the key. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this flat.

Très bon séjour

L'appartement est très bien équipé et confortable. Il convient très bien pour une famille de 4 personnes. L'accès aux pistes se fait facilement. Le propriétaire est très facilement joignable et répond à toutes les questions. Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, le linge doit être réservé à l'avance (serviettes et draps). Je recommande vivement ce logement.

Newly-built Five-Star Taj-I Mah Hotel with top class dining at Le Diamant Noir and more relaxed Rôtisserie Restaurants now open in resort and five minutes walk away, as well as traditional Savoy and Chez Eux restaurants and bars including Red Rock and Kilimanjaro (where ESF instructors gather for aprés-ski beer).


Train: Eurostar snow train direct from St Pancras to terminus at Bourg St Maurice; or Eurostar to Paris and then TGV to Bourg. Fly/drive: Geneva 3 hours by car; Grenoble and Lyon 2.5 hours; Chambery 1.5 hours.

Fly/bus via Geneva: several buses a day during high season; price includes transfer at Bourg to minibus to Arc 2000.

Drive: 11 hours non-stop from Calais. Covered and open air pay parking nearby. Free open air parking served by free shuttle buses, 2 km from apartment.


Apartment to Bourg St Maurice 28km by car or 30 minutes by free shuttle bus/funicular.

Further Details:

Arc 2000 Winter facilities include internet bowling alley with pool tables and sports channel TV showing all major sporting fixtures including Six Nations rugby matches; Sherpa for groceries; bars, restaurants, choice of ski/snowboard hire, ESF bureau, ski pass office, pharmacy, cashpoint, post office and newsagent.

You can ski to the Banque Popular branch at Arc 1800.

Adjacent Arc 1950, reached from 2000 by free one-minute gondola ride on the Cabriolet lift, is open during the Summer and Winter seasons and has a bakery, two-storey Spar store, wine merchant, ski/snowboard hire in Winter and bike hire in Summer.

Also in the Summer season (July/August), the free shuttles, paying funicular, and paying network of lifts adapted to carry mountain bikes as well as ramblers, link the 4 Arcs villages to each other and to Bourg. Signed and waymarked walks in the breathtakingly beautiful Vanoise National Park can also be reached from the top of the Arcabulle lift. At Arc 1800 there is an 18-hole golf course, tennis, a daily programme of organised events and a clean, supervised and well-maintained open air swimming pool set in wonderful scenery.

Off season (May/June and September-November) there are no resort facilities but, with a car, Spring and Autumn walking can be enjoyed in the Vanoise National Park and adjacent Villaroger Nature Reserve.

At all times of the year there are full shopping and local facilities in Bourg including banks, a Lidl and a large Super U (with petrol station) situated on the road out of Bourg towards Les Arcs, where you can stock up before heading up the mountain.

Please check calendar for availability. You are welcome to call/email owner Rod Chaytor for further information. Apartment is not suitable for pets and the whole block is non-smoking.

Changeover Day:
Saturday but flexible out of season. Our agent in resort will welcome you in and check you out (by 10am). She is the first point of contact in unlikely event of problems, including maintenance and she also offers linen/towel hire and cleaning if required.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. 50% rental payable on booking, balance 8 weeks before arrival, plus a £150 security deposit against accidental breakage (not cashed, returned after trip).
