The accommodation comprises one double bedroom, one twin and one sofa bed in the living room. There is a main bathroom, a shower room and two toilets. The large kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. It is well equipped, with digital TV, media centre and wireless ADSL. Private parking is included, as is linen. Lovely apartment in convenient location

Apartment was exactly as described. Well appointed with everything you could need plus great balconies to follow the sun as the day progressed. Great location in terms of walking to restaurants in old Vence within ten minutes and also to explore the coast and hills.

Fantastic apartment & location

This was our second time staying in this apartment.

Is perfectly placed on the quiet side of Vence away from any traffic, an easy walk into Town. Plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. The apartment is a 'home from home' which is exactly why we like it. It has everything you could need, a well equipped kitchen, 2 wonderful balconies which get the sun all day. the bedrooms now have fans which are a must if staying in August as we did.

The children loved playing in the pool at the end of the day.

Vence is a great base to explore many of the surrounding towns. We went to Nice, Antibes, Cannes, St Paul du Vence was amazing and worth a visit. We went to many different beaches but a favorite was Juan le Pins. If cycling is your thing then there are many wonderful and challenging routes to take from the apartment and some easier ones along the many cycle paths near the beaches.

Great apartment

We had a fantastic 2 weeks here and would happily have stayed for longer. The apartment was much bigger than we expected, is very well equipped and we felt at home immediately. We loved having breakfast on the kitchen balcony and drinks in the evening watching the sun go down on the lounge balcony. As the balcony wraps around the property it means you can have the sun or shade at any time of day. Temperatures hit the low 30's when we were there and the ceiling fans were great but I must admit, air conditioning would have been a bonus.

From the apartment it is only a 10 minute walk into the town centre and Vieux Vence which is a lovely place to wander. We enjoyed some lovely meals there or having a drink and watching the world go by. It is also a great location for seeing both the coast and the country. We hired a car but we also made good use of the very cheap bus service (1.50 euros) and we also took the train from Cagnes to travel up and down the coast.

We would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to return.

May in Vence

Three of us stayed for a wonderful week's holiday in May at the Residence de la Pierre Droite. The apartment is large and bright, kept to a high standard and very clean. We loved everything about the apartment including the two very large and sunny balconies which look out onto greenery and on which we spent a lot of time. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and useful to have two bathrooms. The apartment is well located with a 10 minute walk into town. It is easy for car access and has a dedicated parking space. As well as balcony lazing, we had wonderful excursions up the Gorge de Loup and into the Alpes Maritimes, as well as to the multitude of art galleries, museums and gardens which are in the surrounding area. A thoroughly enjoyable week in a great lovely apartment.

Home from Home

Our stay at La Pierre Droite for two weeks was a delight. The apartment is located well within easy walking distance from the old town which is bustling with lovely shops, wonderful restaurants and fantastic locals! The local bus service is superb and again can easily be reached from the apartment. Everything at La Pierre Droite is of a high standard and as the owners regularly visit it has that “Home from Home” feel. We would not hesitate to return and are actually planning for maybe next year. First rate holiday all round. Thank you.

La Pierre Droite, Vence

My wife and I have stayed at La Pierre Droite on 5 occasions, the most recent being September 2013. Vence is well situated for exploring the Cote d'Azur and Eastern Provence and the apartment itself is only a short walk from the old walled town with its abundance of quality restaurants, art galleries and shops. The spacious apartment is well presented by helpful agents. Whilst for some the swimming pool may be an attraction, for us the use of two verandas enables us to eat alfresco in either the sun or shade as our mood dictates. If you enjoy cooking you will find that the modern kitchen has all the facilities you require. Whilst a hire car may be an advantage it is by no means necessary as Vence is well provided by local bus services with the main line train service only a few miles away.

Location

From the Owner

We wanted a second home in France, as we may live there longer term. Vence came highly recommended and with the skiing in the Winter and all the places to see in the Summer in Italy, Corsica and Provence, we find that Vence is perfect!

Nearest Airport : Nice at 17 Kilometres Nearest Train : Cagnes sur Mer at 9 Kilometres Nearest Restaurant : Vieux Couvent at 1 Kilometres Nearest Ski : Gréolières les Neiges at 44 Kilometres Nearest Beach : Cagnes sur Mer at 9 Kilometres Car: not necessary

Coast/Beach:

The beaches of the French Riviera are just 20 minutes away by car. The area is well served by a bus service, where the cost of each trip irrespective distance is one euro.

Travel:

Nice airport is only 20 minutes by car. There are 2 bus routes from the airport to Vence, with a free 'Navette' bus between the bus station and a stop just around the corner from our apartment (Tues-Sat). One bus route also stops at the railway station in Cagnes, permitting easy access to Italy and the rest of Provence. Car hire is available from the airport and we have a reserved parking place for our guests.

Distances:

There are many charming hilltop villages in the area, as well as numerous art galleries and museums. Most places of interest are between 30-60 minutes travel.

Further Details:

It is a 10 minute walk from this apartment to the 'Vieille Ville'. Here you'll find fascinating stone-built houses and narrow streets. The exciting ‘ambience’ is augmented by the many excellent restaurants (many of which are open-air), cafes, shops and squares. Vence also offers a municipal open-air swimming pool and tennis courts, both of which are close to the apartment.

  • Notes on accommodation: We spend a lot of time at the apartment ourselves, so it is very much a ‘home from home’, being both spacious and well equipped. The large balconies offer great views of the surrounding areas and the location in a quiet cul-de-sac means that it is both quiet and peaceful. Outside: The apartment block is mostly occupied by local French people. With only 19 apartments the swimming pool is normally quiet. A small private garden is adjacent to the swimming pool. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included.
