This spacious private Acantilado apartment has breathtaking views and has been furnished to a very comfortable high standard as a home from home. It is maximum 10 minutes walk to the village with the bars and the restaurants, but far enough away to be peaceful and tranquil when you want to get away from it all. It is on 2 levels, with a top sun lounge and balcony as well as a large terrace below with sunbeds, table and chairs, barbecue, umbrella, etc.

About Amanda Hickey

My name is Amanda and I live in Harrow with my partner Gavin. I gave up the rat race and now look after pets for people going on holiday or away for the weekend. As a true animal lover it is a joy rather than a job. On my first trip to Menorca in 1982 it was love at first sight and my family has now owned a property on the island since I was 15. We have now had our apartment for the last ten years and were amazed by the views instantly. I have a real passion for the island and have enjoyed growing up there making many friends both Spanish and English some of whom I have known since I was a child. Our apartment was a pleasure to renovate and has a feeling of home from home which is exactly what Menorca has become for me over the many years I have enjoyed. I want others to love it too.

Why Amanda Hickey chose Calan Porter

Our reasons for buying this apartment where varied, one being previously owning a villa with large grounds and a garden which needed maintenance. The villa did not have the view that the apartment offers and having stayed in a friends apartment in the same block it occurred to me that this was a better option, No gardening and a great view! The location has everything you need so was ideal. Calan Porter caters for children and adults as well as teenagers.

It is with-in easy access of the airport, the beach and not too far from the main capital.

What makes this apartment unique

You will have the benefit of a spacious private double story accommodation with beautiful views where you can get away from it all. Falling asleep in a comfortable bed to the sound of the sea waves can be the most relaxing way to unwind.

Many rental properties do not offer the use of a washing machine but when you are away for some weeks it can be very useful if you want to keep the packing to a minimum. It is a real home from home as my previous guests have stated in their reviews. Save money by not having to rent beach sunbeds or buy beach umbrellas as they are supplied at my house, 3 beach beds and plenty of beach toys in the trunk, snorkeling masks, an inflatable boat, flippers, games etc all supplied. If you are rained in there are plenty of books, games and Sky TV as well as DVDs to keep you occupied. It also has the best view from the upstairs sun lounge to watch the electric storms which are pretty spectacular.

It was at very short notice we booked this apartment and were in no way disappointed. The payment and keys were sorted very smoothly. This

apartment was very spacious and comfortable it was spotlessly clean and very well equiped with nothing lacking and as reassurance we were given the number of someone we could contact at any time. Our family enjoyed two weeks here and we can honestly say in all our years of travelling abroad none of us wanted to come home. Asking our teenage children the highlight of their stay, it was that they felt totally safe where the apartment was situated and that they thoroughly enjoyed the large open air balcony with fabulous views where we spent many evenings just relaxing. The beautiful beach, shops, many eating places and free access to local pools are a only a 5 minute walk away, everyone was happy! Many thanks! We will definately be coming back.

Notes on accommodation: The twin room with the en-suite shower, has a standalone air-conditioning unit which is to remain in the bedroom at all times. A travel cot is available if required and it is suitable for children as long as you remember their are stairs. Also be aware that young children should not be left on the balcony unsupervised or in the upstairs sun lounge with the window open. There is no communal pool on this complex but there are swimming pools available to use with-n 5 minutes walking distance that you aloud to use and the beach is very close. Outside: The outside area is very spacious, with a new beautiful outside eating area. A large BBQ for you to enjoy cooking whilst enjoying all the view has to offer.Top terrace has a washing line for drying those wet beach towels and swimsuits and another sunlounge with the best views in the house with large sliding windows that really open it up to the view snd the sound of the sea. Utility Room: Cupboard under the internal stairs, and the storage room situated at the back of the bathrooms is private and not open to the public. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen and bath/hand towels collected and delivered weekly. Beach towels not provided. Other: 2 of the 3 bedrooms open onto the top terrace overlooking the bay with stunning views. 1 bedroom with the en-suite opens into the top sun lounge with has the best seat in the house overlooking the bay, with L shaped built in comfy sofa. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Amanda's apartment... A very clean, spacious, comfortable apartment fully equipped with every thing you would need, a real home from home.

The view from the balcony was absolutely breathtaking.

The location was perfect, just a short walk to the great restaurants, bars, supermarkets and the beautiful sandy beach.

Amanda was really friendly and helpful from the start, nothing was ever too much trouble and always very quick to respond to any questions we had, she also supplied a very useful introduction pack.

We would highly recommend Amanda's apartment and will definitely be back!!!

We had a fantastic stay here! Home from home! The views are amazing, very clean apartment, plenty of space, everything you needed in the kitchen and more! Beds very comfortable, you just couldn't ask for me! Amanda was brilliant, so friendly and helpful, any questions she gets back to you straight away, highly recommend this apartment, we will be back!

Genuinely stunning!

Acantilado was just the best place we have ever stayed in and we have holidayed a lot. It was beautifully furnished and every detail had been thought about. I could not recommend it highly enough. All of the beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was fitted out so well we could have entertained for 20!! The views from the two balconies were stunning. In the end we only ate out twice as we felt the views from our balcony were second to none! We only went out to enjoy the town when the light had faded. So I would sum it up:

STUNNING ...... BEAUTIFUL........PEACEFUL............ just PERFECT!!

Having stayed in Cala N Porter before we knew what to expect,however, we were taken aback by the high standard of the apartment.Being on two levels took a bit of getting used to, this was a bonus because most apartments we have been to before are only on one level.

It was equipped with everything you would need on a holiday and we didnt want for anything, comfy beds,flat screen T.V. Wi-Fi, Washing Machine and loads of kitchen gadgets etc.

The location is why we chose Amandas apartment with the sun appearing nearly all day over the spacious balcony.We live by the sea in Kent England,but still loved to look at the peaceful cove beneath us with the sound of the waves and the fabulous panoramic view.

We chose October as we wanted peace and quiet and still catch the sun and it ticked all the boxes for us.We got to know Amanda and found her very helpful and quick to reply to any questions we had,which werent many!!

I hope this short summary helps anybody not sure whether to book or not,we know we will be going back.

Amazing villa

I stayed in this beautiful villa apartment in September needing to get away and enjoy some sun and peace, what I found was the most beautiful apartment I ever stayed in. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and the apartment itself was beautifully furnished with everything anyone could want. A short walk to the shops and great restaurants and bars and then the small beach was just perfect. Very friendly people and sunshine guaranteed. Best holiday I have had in years! definitely going back this year.

A week of bliss

Such a beautiful place in such a stunning location. First family holiday in years and this apartment felt like home straight away. It was spacious so we did not feel on top of each other and everything we needed was there (internet included.) Very clean, very comfortable and the photos just don't do it justice. Everything you need is in walking distance; restaurants, bars, supermarket, shops and a short walk down the cliff steps to the beach to keep you fit, alternatively there are some local swimming pools for those who prefer. There's a great bus service into the city centre of Mahon and safe local taxis too. The panoramic view is breath taking and there's nothing like falling asleep to the sound of the waves. Star gazing on the spacious balcony became a nightly event, its the easiest place to relax and unwind and switch off from the real world for the duration of your holiday and we can't wait to go back. When dealing with Amanda she was helpful and informative and we feel like we've known her for years and wouldn't hesitate in recommending her apartment to anyone interested in staying.

Calan Porter beach can be seen from the balcony and is approx 10 minutes walk from the apartment. There are steps down to the beach or by car 3-4 minutes. The sand is soft and fine and there are sunbeds for hire as well as pedalos for the adventurous. It also has 2 beach bars serving fantastic local Tapas, snacks, drinks and ice creams for the children. A life guard is usually on hand for your added safety.


The airport of Mahon is 15-20 minutes away by car or taxis can be found outside of the airport. Car hire is recommended for ease of travel round the island. If you arrive by ferry into the port Mahon it would take approx 30 minutes by car to the apartment.


Being a small island nowhere is very far, but from the apartment the local village is 5 -10 minute walk. The capital is Mahon with a spectacular port well worth visiting is 30 mins by car/taxi. There are many places of interest on the island but Monte Torro is a must 40 min, fantastic views around the whole island from the summit with a cafe and a beautiful chapel. Cuidadella is the original capital across the other side of the island full of history and lovely shops and cafes approx 45 mins.

Further Details:

Calan Porter has all you would need to have a great holiday with the bars, shops, restaurants and supermarkets. It also has cash points for access to money and a Bureau de Change should you need. It also has what must be one of the most unique and beautiful settings for a night club called the Cova Den Xoroi overlooking the sea with open air dance floors and chill out lounge, a must for all those night owls, but once again due to the location this is not suitable for people with mobility problems. Menorca offers many leisure activities such as golf, water sports, hiking, as well as just relaxing on one of it's many beaches.
