This is a well presented apartment ideal for family holidays in the 'golden triangle' of the Algarve coast. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), 2 full bathrooms (1 en-suite) and 3 terraces with distant sea views and also views to Vila Sol Golf Resort and Spa.

Al Sakia Village is a small resort situated 20 minutes drive from Faro airport and within a similar distance of Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo, Vilamoura, Almancil and Quarteira with their full range of shops, bars and restaurants. Vila Sol Golf Resort and Spa is within 5 minutes drive or a 15 minute walk.

There is an on-site pool, children's pool and play area, gardens, gym, tennis courts, bar and restaurant. The resort reception can also arrange excursions, taxis, car hire and help with planning your holiday.

About Tim Cox

We are a British family with 2 children - Tilly is 13 and Zac is 10. My family has been holidaying in the Algarve for nearly 35 years and I have brought my children to the region since Tilly was 6 months old and Zac was 2 months old! Although I have lived, worked and travelled all over the world (I currently live in Hong Kong) I keep coming back to the Algarve and this is now the only place I own a home.

I holidayed regularly in this area before buying the apartment in 2008 and had previously stayed several times in Al Sakia Village.

In fact I was so keen to buy in the development that I offered to buy the apartment without actually seeing it!!

Why Tim Cox chose Quarteira

I bought this apartment in 2008 as I know the area well and wanted a more permanent base for family holidays. I now try to visit up to 5 times a year and have visited probably in pretty much every month of the year including spending several Christmases in the apartment.

The resort is ideally located in the middle of all of the major golf/beach resorts but, being a smaller resort, has the advantage of being more friendly and welcoming.

What makes this apartment unique

I really enjoy the Al Sakia resort and find the locals (Portuguese and ex-pat) to be very friendly and helpful and I always enjoy the beaches, cycling, golf and local food and drinks when I visit. However, sometimes I hardly leave the pool/bar/restaurant area especially when the kids make friends!

Notes on accommodation: The apartment is fully air-conditioned. It is situated on the 1st floor of a small quiet block on the edge of the resort and benefits from lift access. There are distant sea views from the 3 terraces and nearer views over towards Vila Sol Golf and Spa Resort. Outside: The apartment benefits from 3 private terraces, 1 from each bedroom and 1 from the living room. There is also a communal roof terrace. Towels / Linen provided and Maid Service available at extra cost (please liaise with local manager on arrival). 4 pool / beach towels also provided High chair and travel cot (please request on booking and please note that we do not provide cot linen)

We were expecting a resort with a lovely pool area.

This unit is in a massive condo comple and we were confused regarding the 5 star rating. The pool was closed. The touted pizza restaurant was closed. We had to drag our bags up a full flight of stairs to reach the elevator. The unit its self was minimally acceptable. The linens were highly perfumes. The bathroom has an old jetted tub which I'm sure I wouldn't use.

We were told the property manager would meet us at the pizza place but after 30 minutes wait a kind client helped us to contact the name and number provided in the email to get to the unit.

We were dismayed to have dogs barking in the area all night for 5 nights.

Owner's Response: It is clear from the advert that the apartment is in a resort setting and it is also clear that there are steps up to the front door - both items are clearly stated in the property description. When you travel to a resort out of season it is always possible that some facilities may be under maintenance or closed - this is totally out of our control. Additionally, we certainly cannot be held responsible for the closure of a restaurant which is privately owned! The linens are perfumed because they are laundered with detergent and with fabric softener. The apartment has a new, modern bathroom and not an ''old jetted tub'' which by the way works perfectly! As regards gaining entry to the apartment, the details which were sent to you clearly state that you need to send an SMS to the manager when you are on your way to the property which you failed to do - consequently, she didn't know when to expect you. Considering we accommodated your party with less than 24 hours notice and you asked zero questions about the apartment or facilities and clearly haven't read the property description properly this review is extremely unfair.

A lovely spacious and comfortable apartment

We would thoroughly recommend this apartment. It is very well equipped for a family (we have 3 children ages 14, 11 and 9). The Al Sakia resort is a great place to stay with a family too. The Tiramisu restaurant (on site) is perfect for meals in the evening, (being very good value - with excellent pizzas). The resort is right next to a big Lidl supermarket - so easy for self catering too. Al Sakia makes a great base if you hire a car and are interested in exploring the local area and fabulous beaches. We all loved the beautiful pool. My youngest daughter just needed to grow an extra few inches so that she wasn't out of her depth in the main part which was a little too deep for her.

Wonderful accommodation

We were only here for a few days and spent most of our time on the small resort by the pool. the facilities are a short walk away and are gorgeous. The apartment is large and we'll equipped with 3 decent sized balconies. Charlotte, who greets you, is delightful and very welcoming. Was just what we needed after 2 weeks trekking around Portugal. A car would be needed if you wanted to explore further and visit the beaches often. For what we wanted it couldn't have been more perfect.

Fantastic Location, great apartment.

Lovely apartment in a fantastic location, well laid out accommodation, everything you need for a self catering break. The apartment is in a great position to get to tourist attractions in the local area especially Aquashow, Vilamoura just 10 mins away in a car. We visited Old Faro for the first time, great cathedral with some amazing views over Faro

We loved the pool with its friendly, welcoming bar and restaurant.

Tim & Charlotte were very helpful and accommodating.

Looking forward to returning in the future.

Car: recommended


Praia de Trafal beach is within a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk and has several beach bars and cafes. Other beaches are available within a 15 minute drive including Quarteira, Falesia and Vale do Lobo.


Faro airport is within a 20 minute drive. When we stay in the the apartment, we often take a taxi to and from the airport which is normally between 20 and 30 Euros.


The resort has a bar and restaurant with further bars and restaurants (including the well known Marufo) within walking distance. There is a supermarket (5 minutes drive/15minutes walk), Quarteira (5 minutes drive), Almancil (10 minutes drive) and Vilamoura (15 minutes drive). The Aquashow water park is within a 5 minute drive.

Further Details:

We have 2 young children and consider this resort to be very safe and child friendly with the pool area being completely enclosed and accessible only to residents via smart card (provided with the apartment). The resort reception is very helpful and can arrange taxis, car hire and excursions as can our local management company. Please ask for further details.
