The lodge is sited in one of the loveliest areas in England - a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with the freshwater lagoon of Slapton Ley at it's heart. The lodge has it's own garden within extensive grounds which overlook the long crescent stretch of Slapton Sands and the craggy headland that curves around to Start Point lighthouse. Refurbished in a contemporary style the lodge has wonderful sea views and sits above the shingle beach at Strete Gate - just 10 minutes walk away. The award winning Blackpool Sands is a couple of miles away and the historic naval port of Dartmouth is within striking distance with it's wealth of galleries, shops and cafes and restaurants

Lovely Stay

We had a lovely time here. Despite it being November we had a dry week. Thanks for the extra logs. Even though the cottage is near the front of a long drive to the main house it felt very secluded. The cottage was in top condition and we loved it. Sea views from some of the windows and the garden. Lots to do in the area, so much so we ran out of time and will definitely be coming back to stay again. Thanks for the treats,

Holiday Perfection!

The Lodge is wonderfully equipped and comfortable. The owners seem to have thought of everything that guests might need to enhance their stay. It is also very well placed for holiday visits to beaches and places of interest. We can think of nothing to suggest by way of improvements. It is perfect!

Top Class Experience

The property is great - loved the view and the peace and tranquility, we were visiting family and out most of the time but always so nice to return to this home away from home, modern clean and neat, well maintained great fresh water, modern kitchen, really happy with our stay and had a really memorable week, can highly recommend

very nice holiday home, lovely views. road outside a little dangerous to navigate as a pedestrian when heading to beach but worth it. would i go again? definitely.very clean, tidy and functional.

Car: necessary

Coast/Beach:

The lodge overlooks the shingle beach at Strete Gate and a short walk through the grounds of the main house will bring you to the coast road - from there it's a 5 minute walk to to the beach. From Strete Gate the coast continues on to Slapton Sands and Torcross both a few minutes drive away. The award winning family beach at Blackpool Sands is two miles away. There are lots of beautiful beaches in the area and the sandy beaches at Hope Cove, Bantham and Salcombe are worth a visit.

Travel:

A car is essential and you are ideally placed to drive along the coast road to the nearby towns of Dartmouth or Kingsbridge. The nearest train station is Totnes and you are on the main bus route from Plymouth to Dartmouth via Kingsbridge. There is a ferry service across the river from Dartmouth to Kingswear and riverboat services run between Dartmouth and many other riverside locations and harbours.

Distances:

Driving distances in minutes (approx) - Dartmouth 15 minutes, Kingsbridge 15 minutes, Totnes 25 minutes, Salcombe 40 minutes, Plymouth 50 minutes, Torquay 60 minutes, Exeter 75 minutes.

Further Details:

For provisions there is a nearby farm shop with a deli and butcher as well as the local village post office and store. Alfresco cafes and sea food restaurants can be found on the sea front at Torcross.

A walkway through the grounds of the main house enables guests to walk to the beach at Strete Gate. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All linen, towels and bath sheets are included and changed weekly. Beach towels are not included.
