The lodge is sited in one of the loveliest areas in England - a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with the freshwater lagoon of Slapton Ley at it's heart.

The lodge has it's own garden within extensive grounds which overlook the long crescent stretch of Slapton Sands and the craggy headland that curves around to Start Point lighthouse.

Refurbished in a contemporary style the lodge has wonderful sea views and sits above the shingle beach at Strete Gate - just 10 minutes walk away. The award winning Blackpool Sands is a couple of miles away.

Situated at the mouth of the River Dart is the historic naval port of Dartmouth with it's wealth of galleries, shops and cafes and restaurants.

Dartmouth is known for it's narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses and old quays, with the historic Mayflower having set sail for the New World America from Bayards Cove.

A boat trip up river will take you to Agatha Christie's house "Greenways" and "Coleton Fishacre" once the home of the D'Oyly Carte family is at Kingswear.

Further afield the beautiful beaches of Bantham (our local surfing beach) Bigbury and South Milton as well as Salcombe and Hope Cove are all within striking distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'Such a lovely cottage on such a beautiful stretch of coastline. We shall remember this holiday long after our tans have faded.'

'A wonderful holiday spent in the best holiday home we have stayed in.'

'We have stayed in many places in the South Hams area, but this has got to be the best. It has lovely views of Start Bay and we have enjoyed them whilst eating breakfast outside almost every day.'

Wonderful setting, lovely views

  • 4 of 5

Spent an enjoyable week in late September exploring the South Hams district. Cottage was in an excellent location close to facilities and attractions in Dartmouth and the Slapton Sands area. Cottage is well equipped and very spacious for us as a couple. We felt it would have been polite of the owners to ask us when it would be convenient to do a job in the cottage, rather than just letting themselves in whilst we were not there. Also the cleaners arrived at exactly 10 a.m. on the day of departure and virtually pushed past us as we were trying to get our last bags into the car and check that we had left nothing. These incidents unfortunately slightly spoiled an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Owner's Response: I must apologise - an error on my part and I am very embarrassed about it I had forgotten to tell my guests that the agreed repair date had changed to a Tuesday having previously arranged to enter the property in their absence at the weekend This is useful feedback about the cleaners being a little brusque and I have now spoken to them to ensure that this will not happen again Deb

Fantastic Holiday cottage, great location!

  • 5 of 5

My wife & 1yr old daughter had a fantastic time - the cottage is a good size, a great layout, and very comfortable.

We had a typical British seaside holiday (i.e. rain) but still loved every minute of our stay,

Highly recommended.

Stunning holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was our 3rd stay at this beautiful cottage and breakfast on the garden overlooking the sea was a delight. The accommodation is 1st class, modern, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped and Deb and Ian are welcoming hosts. We would highly recommend and very much look forward to our next visit.

Stylish lodge with beautiful sea views!

  • 5 of 5

Our second time staying with our two children (4 and 7), and just as wonderful... The lodge is clean, modern and fully stocked, we enjoyed our breakfasts outside overlooking the sea.

Entertainment for the kids includes the Woodlands play park, there's lots to see around the local area, on this occasion we rode a steam train in nearby Dartmouth.

Would highly recommend a visit!

Beautiful Lodge in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

A fantastic place to explore South Devon. The Lodge has sea views and is a ten minute stroll from the beach through beautiful grounds. Very clean and well appointed accommodation, with nice little touches such as fresh flowers and coffee, tea & biscuits provided. There is a fireplace for colder days. We loved our stay and plan to return. Highly recommended.
