A duplex townhouse with a plunge pool. Close to a lovely beach in Ancão. Ideal for a beach holiday.

This two bedroom apartment with private pool and barbecue area is situated in Quinta das Salinas a small exclusive development lying on the outskirts of Quinta do Lago. Quinta das Salinas consists of villas and townhouses set amongst pine trees and landscaped gardens. The Ancão beach is a 10 min walk from the villa; there you may find restaurants, even from a famous chef Chakal, with a breath tacking natural view to the beach.

The apartment is a 5 min. drive to Quinta Shopping centre and 10 min to the Natural Ria Formosa Park, which have marked pathways so that you may enjoy the natural scenery. Boat trips may be taken through Ria Formosa which was considered one of Portugal´s seven wonders.

15 minutes walk to Ancao beach. Less than 5 minutes drive with near parking facilities and 3 restaurants.


15 minutes drive to Faro Airport.


10 minutes drive to nearest town (Almancil). 5 minutes drive to either Vale do Lobo or Quinta do Lago with their respective golf courses and amenities.

Disappointing and not close to all amenities

We booked here for 13 nights to bring our 8 month old son on his first holiday.

The initial enquiry was answered by Oceanovilas who are the managing agent for the property and they handle the booking and payments.

We arrived at Faro airport at 10pm and after hiring a car we made our way to Oceanovilas office where we had to collect the keys from a collection box, here we found an envelope with a number and place name but no street address or written directions and a very basic map of the surrounding area - 2 hours later we still hadn't found the property so had to call the emergency number and someone had to come out and direct us to the property - by now it was 2am - not a good start!

Our overall impression of the Villa was that it was very tired, we were especially looking forward to the outdoor space and plunge pool but these were the most disappointing, the pool was dirty and there was a film of grease on the top, the pool surroundings were also in poor condition and the sun loungers were split with foam hanging out, when I sat in one of the garden chairs it broke and I am not overweight. We reported this to Oceano Vilas who replaced one of the sun lounger covers and did a quick tidy up of the garden, but the pool remained dirty so we only used it once after fishing out as much debris as we could.

Equally the inside of the villa was run down and felt a little dirty, it felt like it had been unoccupied for a long time and there was a constant trail of ants running through the kitchen, if you left some food uncovered for a few minutes on the work surface it was soon covered with ants.

The double bed was also very uncomfortable and the light in the back bedroom was hanging off the ceiling and did not work.

There was only 1 restaurant within walking distance which was the Formosa Hotel, the 2 Passos restaurant on Ancao beach only opens in Jul/Aug so was of no use, there were no other shops within walking range so we were thankful that we had a car and in fact after the first few days we decided that we couldn't face spending the rest of our time in this Villa and booked a 2 day trip to Tavira and then a 4 day trip to Salema where we had a great time, it's just a shame we ended up paying for 2 lots of accommodation.

The property looks pretty good from the photos but we do not feel they show a true reflection of the condition of the property and overall we feel like we made a big mistake booking this place.
