Villa in La Mole, near Cogolin, St Tropez, Cote d'Azur - Beautiful Peaceful Rural Location Away From The Crowds But 20 Minutes From The Nearest Beaches

Located in beautiful countryside it is surprising to learn that the beaches of the Cote d' Azur and St Tropez lie 20 minutes away. The tranquil village of La Mole with its 3 or 4 restaurants, boulangerie and church is at the bottom of the single track road flanked by vineyards. plane trees and wild forest which lead up the valley to our villa, La Gargoulette. A beautiful reservoir lake is a short walk through forest paths from our private 2 acre grounds.

About George Kealy

We live in England but George is half French and acquired the land from his family who purchased it in the 1960s. Uniquely situated in a beautiful valley surrounded by vineyards and forest we were frequently approached to sell. After many family holidays on the Cote d' Azure we knew we had to realise a dream and our holiday home was completed in 2006 after a few hitches! Close to St Tropez and some of the most famous coastline in the world but away from the crowds and noise, we knew we had somewhere special.

Why George Kealy chose La Môle

We are very proud of our villa and its lovely location. The village of La Mole lies 2 miles at the end of a quiet, picturesque country lane, with its famed restaurant, Auberge de la Mole, on the corner next to the church. A boulangerie serves the community as it has done for generations and a few miles down the road the larger town of Cogolin offers shops and cafes to suit most needs as well as the twice weekly market.

We are delighted to say that friends, family and guests are enthusiastic in their praise and admiration, choosing to return time and again to our haven.

What makes this villa unique

La Mole is two 'steps' from the sea, in the heart of the Maures mountains . Surrounded by fabulous forests, La Mole offers several walking itineraries directly from the villa through the Maures. On the rock of St. Madeleine, and north of the present village, you will find the ruins of the original community of La Mole.

You mustn't miss the picturesque route of Cretes (527m.) where there are sumptuous panoramas, or the Col du Canadel (267m.) which is the short-cut down to the nearest beaches.

The LunaPark fair between Cogolin and St Tropez operates through the summer and has rides for all. Other activities nearby (Cogolin) include Karting, mini-Golf and grown-up golf, horse riding, and sailing, and if you venture on to St Maxime there is a large Aqua Park with a variety of exciting rides.

Notes on accommodation: There are convection heaters in all rooms and heated towel rails in the bathrooms. Whilst we welcome children our villa and pool may not be ideal for very young children. There is a folder in the villa with further household details. Outside: A private 10 by 5 metre pool is a few steps down from the shaded terrace area and surrounded by further terracota tiled terrace and lawn beyond. A large stone barbecue, sunloungers, garden dining table and chairs are all included. The large garden beyond is mostly left wild with a rough pathway down to the stream that borders the property. The curious may find terrapins and fish in the stream or tortoises and toads in the garden. Wild boar are very shy so do not venture into the garden but there is an electric fence on a timer as a precaution at night. Discreet fencing stands at the perimetre of the property and an electric entrance gate (code required) is at the top of a short driveway leading down to the front door. There is ample secure parking. A large double garage is accessible to store equipment. Utility Room: Washer/dryer, sink and hot water tank. Door to garage. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Duvets and pillows are provided but linen is available on request at 12 Euros per person. Own towels are required.

Отдыхали на вилле ла Гарголетте 15-23.07.16г

Это правда, что в реальности вилла лучше чем на фото,дом полностью отремонтирован, мебель в отличном состоянии, особенно понравилась кухня, кто любит готовить- вам туда. 3 духовки , вся кух утварь, глиняная посуда , дубовый стол , а главное вид из окна на горы!

Очень удобно что телевизор подключён к Интернету , можно смотреть любые фильмы или слушать музыку.

Бассейн супер-плаваешь с видом на горы)

Когда смотришь на всю эту красоту-чувство , что время остановилось ...

Особенно порадовали сан узлы-хорошая плитка, все новое и чистое.

Очень запомнились ужины на террасе у бассейна , хороший гриль.

Прогулки в лес и озера прямо с территории виллы .

Кондиционеров в доме нет, но они там абсолютно не нужны , при том что на улице было 33 гр-в доме всегда была приятная прохлада.

Единственное , что не понравилось -несколько ночей подряд соседи устраивали веселье с громкой музыкой , но слышно было только в комнате с окнами на центральные ворота.

Отдельное спасибо хозяевам за быстрое реагирование на просьбы.

Ну и само лазурное побережье просто незабываемое!

What a very special relaxing week at La Mole

A beautiful spacious villa at the end of a winding country lane going up through the vine yards. Nothing could be nicer than sitting on the terrace looking out over the pool and the woods behind it. Fantastic restaurant The Auberge at the end of the road- a culinary experience not to be missed. Already looking forwards to my return visit.

Wonderful & relaxing, in a beautiful location

We flew from Bournemouth to Toulon on the new Flybe summer service. Toulon has 5 hire-car companies at the terminal, so collecting the hire car was a breeze. The transfer from Toulon to the villa took approx. 45mins, all very stress free. The villa is located in a beautiful location amongst woodland and vineyards up a single track road, beside the Church in la Mole. The villa was a delight, plenty of space with a well thought out indoor and outdoor space. We swam in the pool (spotlessly clean), took a hike up to the reservoir, and ate at 2 local restaurants (L'Auberge and Le Magan), both meals were outstanding.

Each morning we were able to get fresh croissants and bread from the bakery in La Mole, which we ate whilst sitting outside on the terrace.

During our stay we spent some time at the beach at Hyeres (near the Airport) and Port Grimaud (20mins drive from the villa) & stocked up at the supermarket at Cogolin.

The description of the villa was just as we had been advised.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to ALL our friends.

St. Tropez is famous for its beaches (there are at least 40 on the peninsula) although we would recommend the 11km hop over the mountains which is easy and avoids any summer traffic. The nearest beach is about 20 minutes drive away but takes longer in peak season.


Nice or Marseilles are approximately 90 minutes drive in either direction. Easyjet fly to Nice and Ryanair to Marseilles. Toulon is our nearest airport (40 mins) and Ryanair fly there from Stansted.

A car is essential.


La Môle is situated 5 miles west of Cogolin and eleven miles from St Tropez. It is only 23 miles south of the A8 so the area is easily accessible by car. The nearest beaches are some 7 miles away just over the mountain to Rayol-Canadel-Sur-Mer and Cavaliere.

Further Details:

Leclerc is the main supermarket serving the area and is found in Cogolin with plenty of parking. The markets in Cogolin (Wednesdays and Saturdays) as well as Grimaud and other local villages are a shopping and browsing delight. Taste the local produce;olives, cheeses, pates, cured meats, honey and jams, herbs and spices or wile away some time in the pavement cafes and bars watching the world go by or a friendly game of boules. The sophisticated boutiques and pretty streets of St Tropez are to die for, and the superyachts to dream about. Be sure to also visit Gassin, Grimaud, Bormes-les-Mimosas, Collobrieres, Gorges du Verdun.

At the time of booking, a non refundable deposit of 25% of the total rental amount is payable. The 75% balance of the rental cost, is payable no later than 60 days before the beginning of the rental period along with a £400/ €400 refundable security deposit against accidental damage.
