Apartment in Santa Ponsa, Mallorca - Great for Young Families, Perfect Location, Safe and Friendly

2 bedroom, ground floor apartment, sleeps 5 comfortably but can sleep 6 if children. There is a double bedded room with en-suite and a twin bedroom with separate bathroom. There is also a double sofa bed - ideal for young teenagers. Santa Ponsa is a 20 minutes drive from Palma airport and the apartment is a genuine 2 minute walk from a beautiful sandy beach, lots of shops and many great bars and restaurants. The apartment complex is completely secure and the swimming pool is only open to residents. We have a large balcony which overlooks the gardens and is lovely to sit in during the late afternoon as the day starts to cool a little.

Hi there, my name's Mary and we've had this apartment for 4 years. But I've been going to Santa Ponsa since I was a child as my parents had an apartment there years ago. I just love this island and the people - it's definitely a home from home for me.

We've got to know so many lovely people here and I want you to be able to enjoy it too. We've tried to make everything as easy as possible for you and if you should have any problems while you're in the apartment we have a great lady called Dora who looks after the place for us.

There are some great places to eat at in the town and we leave a list of suggestions in the apartment. But there are also some fabulous places to visit on the island, nowhere is really that far away. Its a beautiful place - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Why Mary MacLaren chose Santa Ponça

Our main reason for buying an apartment in Santa Ponsa is because I had been coming here since I was a child and it was one of the few places where my husband totally chilled out! Mallorca is a gorgeous island with lots of history and stunning scenery. There are parts that are quite commercialised but happily Santa Ponsa is not one of them. It's so easy to get to - 2 hours in a plane and then 15-20 mins in a taxi/car - perfect. Santa Ponsa itself has its busy areas and its quiet ones so you can chose for yourself what you want to do. In the height of the summer it is obviously pretty busy with lots going on but outside of July and August it has a nice pace to it and is a great family location - whether you want time out for a few days golf or a total 'lay by the pool' holiday - this is it.

What makes this apartment unique

The location of both Santa Ponsa and this apartment are perfect. Santa Ponsa is so easy to get to from the airport - no long treks in a coach, just hop in a taxi or pick up your hire car, and in 20 mins you're home (our other home that is!). And the apartment is so close to everything you could need - shops, taxi and bus station, bars, restaurants, swimming pool and sandy beach - what more do you need. Being on the ground floor of this small complex makes access really simple - especially if you've got a toddler, or if you like to take it easy without any stairs to manage. 2 mins takes you to the beach or the bakery (or both!). It is an extremely comfortable apartment, well laid out, spacious and the 2nd bathroom is essential. Just relax and enjoy yourselves.

Notes on accommodation: The apartment has a dual air-con facility, offering cool air in the summer and warm air in the cooler spring and autumn evenings. We are the perfect location for children, no stairs/steps to negotiate, swimming pool with easy access, beach only a couple of mins away and 3 great water parks 5 mins taxi drive away. Outside: The apartment has a large patio/balcony area with seating for 6. There are 4 wrought iron chairs and a table, and 2 wicker armchairs along with a parasol and table. The balcony overlooks the gardens and is quite private. The swimming pool is shared by all the apartments but it is rarely busy as many of the apartments are owned by Spaniards and they are at work during the day. The pool is not heated but this is very welcome during the heat of the summer! You will have access to two dedicated sun loungers and two chairs at the side of the pool. Utility Room: Washing machine, hot water boiler, small clothes line. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bath and hand towels, bedlinen and kitchen cloths are all included in rental price, and changed weekly when cleaning takes place. If you are staying for longer than one week, arrangements can be made regarding towels. Please bring your own beach towels. Other: Patio/balcony with wrought iron table and 4 chairs plus 2 extra wicker armchairs and table.

perfect location and the apartment met all expectations

we spent a week here and just home and wanting to re-book for next year. The apartment was spacious and well enough equipped for self catering. We found the location was great for everything in Santa Ponsa and being only 2 mins walk from the beach. All shops and entertainment just a short walk away. The weather was fantastic and the local people were lovely and friendly. Bus services to Palma were very frequent and we were able to visit several times

Lovely quiet ground-floor apartment in a great location with an excellent pool

We have stayed in Santa Ponsa many times over the last 15 years and always stay near the Golf area by Plazamar and Jutlandia. This is a very nice ground-floor 2-bedroomed apartment that is in a great location across from the Block House restaurant . We found it very quiet in the complex and although this is still only June, my sense is that this is a quiet complex throughout the year. There is a lovely pool in the complex. There isn't a separate kiddies pool but there is a good part of the pool at a reasonable height.

There are two bathrooms which is really helpful for children with showers etc. The patio area is spacious.

We also found the owner Mary to be extremely helpful throughout the whole process and would strongly recommend this apartment.

Great location

Had a great holiday, there was everything you needed for your stay, location very good for taxi's and buses. couple of minutes away from beach and shops. The pool was lovely and really enjoyed our stay. Mary was very helpful with any queries we had, Thanks Sue

Convenient Location

Apartment V clean, tidy and spacious, the location was good being close (but not to close) to Restaurants, Pubs and shops, the owner was extremely helpful as I left keys at home but was able to pick up spare set from lady who looks after Apt. We stayed in mid April so cool at night but imagine this would be good in High Season as As Apt does not get Sun until mid PM. Bed's Clean and Comfy, Wash Machine for Laundry. Large lounge and Dining area, all in all Very good and would use again.

All the essentials

This apartment had everything needed for a great family holiday in a fun resort. It was far enough away from the noise but close enough to walk to the bars if you wanted to. It was the perfect location for the beach & many restaurants. It was right beside the bus stop & taxi rank. I would highly recommend if you want a good functional apartment in a great location

bon emplacement

nous avons été surpris de recevoir les clés avant de partir, mais tout c'est bien passé sur place. L'emplacement était très pratique, à deux pas de la plage et des commerces, mais attention, pas sur le port. Les équipements sont un peu juste pour 5 ou 6 personnes (casseroles, poeles...). Par contre les deux salles d'eau sont très pratiques. Une chose à signaler tout de même, l'isolation phonique n'est pas terrible et un enfant en bas age habite au dessus, donc les réveils sont très matinaux.

Santa Ponsa has a beautiful sandy beach stretching the length of the bay. There are sun loungers with/without parasols for rental, a children's climbing frame and there are pedal boats and jet skis for hire. The apartment is a genuine 2 min walk to the beach. There is another beach, known locally as 'the little beach' which is about a 10 minute walk away.


Palma airport is a 20 min taxi drive away. You can also hire a car at the airport if you wish. Taxis to/from the airport are currently around 40 euro each (Oct 09). Taxis will have a child seat if you need it. You don't really need a car in Santa Ponsa and there are plenty of buses if you want to see the local neighbourhoods. But if you want to travel round the island there are many interesting places to visit.


Travelling from Palma you will pass through Palma Nova, Magaluf, El Toro and then Santa Ponsa. This is a simple 20 min drive. Going out of Santa Ponsa you can go to Cala Fornells, Paguera and Andraitx. This will take about 15 mins in the car. Going up the west coast you should visit Valldemosa and Soller. Going up the east coast this area is becoming more developed now and you will reach Pollensa and other tourist areas - these two trips are about one hour each.

Further Details:

Within 2 mins of the apartment you will find a great bakery for your 'ensaimadas' or 'pan chocolate'; a couple of supermarkets for all you'll need; a travel agency where you can book tickets to theme parks, water parks, train rides to Soller, etc; a cash point is on the corner right outside the apartment; several bars and restaurants. We definitely recommend 'Western Water Park' - it has a Wild West theme, is great for big kids and little kids as all areas are supervised - but bring your own food if you can be bothered as these can be a bit pricey.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is usually Saturday but this is flexible. Arrival and departure times will be dependant on the previous occupants of the apartment - if you want to make the most of your last day, bear this in mind when you are the one leaving or arriving.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for 4 people per week in Euros. Up to 6 people may incur a small supplement for additional linen/towels. All rates are negotiable if you are wanting to stay longer than two weeks. Special Spring or Winter long lets can be discussed - just give me a call.
