Cottage in La Seurie, Nr. Mouilleron En Pareds and La Chataigneraie, Vendee
La Seurie is situated approximately 1km from Mouilleron En Pareds, a small peaceful town with a number of shops, including a supermarket, baker/patisserie, restaurants, a bar , chemist and two banks. At present there are two Restaurants - La Table Du Centre and The Galopin both are both good standard rural restaurants. In addition we have two Bar's; Bar Clemenceau run by a young English couple which serves light lunches and Tapas style food in the evening and Bar Le Tigre which is a typical Bar Tabac. A good range for the size of town.
Set in the picturesque Vendee countryside merely an hours drive from beautiful sandy beaches. Nearest airports are Nantes, La Rochelle and Poitiers. Nearest Ports are St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg. The Vendee countryside it is an ideal base for exploring the area, the cottage has exposed beams and many original features. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and one has twin beds. Outside the cottage has its own parking and a private patio, equipped with a table, six chairs and a solid fuel BBQ. To the rear and above the cottage (it is situated on a slight gradient) is a large rough grassed garden with fruit trees.
About the Owner
Having spent many years holidaying in France we decided to buy the cottage in 2005 - it was in good condition and habitable from the outset.
Over the years we have worked to make it more comfortable and continue to do so. We have been sharing the experiece with others for some years.
We live in a small village in Buckinghamshire and have three children all at whi have now flown the nest. Despite working on the cottage we have had some very enjoyable holidays in the area.

“We bought this property in 2005 mainly for the location. It is in a small hamlet far from the madding crowd! At just 1km away Mouillerons en Pareds is the nearest place for drinks and meals out and we eat there regularly. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and there are many recommendations for visits without spending a great deal of money eg Vouvant superb views and walks, Mervent take a rest in the lakeside bar whilst the children take to the pedalos. Within 40 mins to an hour is the Coast line - in most places very much unspoilt. However La Tranche sur Mer and La Faute sur Mer do offer more traditional lines of shops and restaurants, but in a very conservative French way. As they say 'Whats not to like?'”
Activity and Interests
The nearest coast is approximately one hours drive away. The coastal areas are mainly unspoiled and provide miles of sandy beaches. The small coastal towns are full of character offering a variety of typically French restaurants and shops. Markets days are many and varied details are provided in the cottage information booklet.

Nearest: Nantes airport - 1 hour 15 minute drive.
La Rochelle airport - 1 hour 30 minute drive.
St Malo Port - 3.5 hours drive.
Caen Port - 4.5 hours drive.
Calais - 7 hours drive.
There are many things to do in the surrounding area - whether its climbing the tower at Vouvant...swimming in the local lake....shopping in Nantes....pedalos at Mervent...walks in the Mervent forest...the Sunday markets...the night markets...a visit to the seaside...a day out at the Puy du Fou (not to be missed)....eating at a farm restaurant where all the produce including the meat is home grown...a quiet beer and meal in the local bar or restaurant ... or just a simple walk in the surrounding countryside there is never a dull moment.

A deposit of £100 is required to confirm your booking, this becomes your security deposit once full payment is made. Payment in full is required 40 days before your arrival. The £100 security is paid back to you within seven days if the cottage is left in good order.
Changeover day is normally Saturday, however contact us we are normally flexible outside peak periods, the cottage will be available from 4pm on the day of arrival, you must vacate the cottage by 11pm on the day of departure.
Notes on prices:
Prices are per week. Guests paying by cheque or bank transfer for the complete booking (deposit & balance) will receive a 2.5% discount. Credit Cards are accepted at the prices stated, please confirm when booking.
Prices include linen and towels please bring your own beach towels. Heating can be provided at £35 per week.

“The cottage is located at the foot of a hill below a line of windmills, they have seen better days but the 'views from the top' are stunning and there are plenty of walks so no need to spend a week in the car. We often walk into town via the Millers path, a 30 minutes scenic route which avoids arguments as to who should drive! We are fortunate enough to have two friendly English people, resident in France, overseeing the property for us. Wendy and John will make sure that the house is ready for you and in the unlikely event of any problems will provide a swift resolution. The cottage itself has a very large split level living area; at the lower level the lounge, intermediate the kitchen and stairs and upper a dining room with patio doors and electric shutters.”

- Notes on accommodation: The cottage has oil central heating - we can include this at an additional charge of £35 /week. Outside: Immediately behind the cottage is a paved area with charcoal BBQ, garden table, six chairs and a parasol. Beyond this, is a roughly grassed large garden. Utility Room: At the back of the cottage is a room which houses the oil fired boiler, this also contains a washing machine, iron, ironing board, & rotary washing line (for use outside) washing basket and cleaning equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen Linen is provided. Please bring your own beach towels. The cottage is cleaned before your arrival...all we ask is that that you leave it as you find it. Other: Dining room with large table seats 6-8 and a large cooling fan with door leading to the Patio area.
