Holiday Home near Oban, Argyll - Stylish Accommodation With Breathtaking Views Over Sea Loch

'Teach Aisling' is Irish for Place of Happiness. Completed in 2002 this beautiful and spacious house is located on the south shore of Loch Creran. It is 3 miles from the tiny village of Benderloch which has a well stocked shop, post office and garage. Oban is only 10 miles away with a good choice of shops, restaurants and bars as well as a cinema, theatre, sports centre, golf, tennis and ferries to the Islands. The main feature of the house is a large glass fronted open plan sitting room with cathedral ceiling. A wood burning stove set in front of the glass window allows for visitors to sit around a fire looking outwards with uninterrupted views of the water and islands. 2 patio doors access a large raised deck along the length of the house. There is a BBQ, chiminea and outside table and chairs to enjoy the stunning sights and sounds of the loch. see also www.jabunet.me.uk

Coast/Beach:

House is located literally metres from the edge of a sea loch. Nearest sandy beach is 2 miles away and Oban also has good sandy beaches.

Sea kayaks and bikes can be rented. They can be delivered and collected direct from the house. Ask for more info.

Travel:

A car is recommended for this beautiful part of Scotland. Oban is 10 miles away. Glasgow and Edinburgh are approx a 2.5 hr drive away. Frequent buses and trains to Oban. Oban airport is located just 5 mins away from the house.

Distances:

Oban is 10 miles away. Benderloch, the nearest village to buy bread and papers is 3 miles away.

Tesco in Oban do a 'Click and Collect' service.

Further Details:

Teach Aisling is well situated for many activities in the Highlands. Birds and wildlife abound in and around the sea loch with great opportunities for fishing. All types of walks and bike trails are available locally.

Local Nature Reserve walk starts literally at the top of the driveway.

The Nevis Range gondola at Fort William is open all year for mountain walking/climbing and downhill mountain biking.

Neptunes Steps at the Caledonian Canal are close by here.

Segways available to rent at Tralee Bay 2 miles away.

Day trips by ferry from Oban to Mull and Iona are easy to organise. From Oban there are also seal watching trips, trips to the islands of Lismore and Kerrera, Staffa and Fingals Cave.

Sea.Fari provide exhilarating boat trips through the Corryvrekan.

The Ice Factor at Kinlochleven, 40 mins away has one of the Uk's largest indoor climbing and ice wall.

The Sea Life Centre is located a few miles from the house.

Inverary and the Crinan Canal are less than 1 hour away from the house.

There is a wonderful bike path which links Oban - Fort William.

Beach fires/toasting marshmallows etc a great fun pastime.

Farmers market, 1 mile away every second Thursday.

Fantastic restaurants in/near Oban.

Seil Island and Easdale - flooded slate quarry island. Fantastic!

Notes on accommodation: Heating by oil boiler with under floor heating, plus wood burning stove. Well behaved pets only by prior arrangement. Strictly no smoking. There are hairdryers in the master bedroom and downstairs bedroom. Kitchen is well stocked with basic items - please feel free to use eg. oils, salt/pepper, spices, all cleaning materials etc. Outside: Large garden and gazebo located in south east corner of garden so you can enjoy the afternoon and evening sun meters from the edge of the loch. Large gas BBQ, patio table and chairs and chiminea all included (Not available during Winter months unless by request.) Utility Room: Includes Bosch washing machine and separate tumble dryer. Has additional small fridge, ideal for drinks. Sink, extra cupboards and adjustable ceiling clothes pully in this room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedding and bed linen included. Drying cloths and towels in kitchen provided. Rent includes cost for electricity and central heating plus firewood. Please provide your own towels for personal use. Other: Inside front door there is a large slate floored area ideal for taking off wet coats and boots. Off main sitting area there is a smaller room with TV, X-box and games cupboard. Ideal as additional TV/games room for children. Internet access.

"A real dilemma"

Teach Aisling is a true gem of a holiday home, so it is 'A real dilemma when describing how much we are enjoying our time here! If we tell to many people how fantastic and special the home is, they will want to book it and it will become to busy.... On the other hand who wouldn't say what a thoroughly relaxing time we have had, can't wait till the next time. On the fist day we watched two young seals swimming past, then just as the tide was almost out we looked on in awe as an otter fished for its lunch, that really was special, for many a once in a lifetime experience seeing an otter in the wild.

We will not be able to help ourselves from telling our friends what a special place 'Teach Aisling is and are already planning our return.

Utopia

It is difficult to put into words the feeling of total relaxation and restful tranquility that you experience when you enter this lovingly cared for home, on this beautiful shore line.

You sense isolation, but you are only a few minutes from the main road.

You can see the ferries go past, but you can barely hear them as pass on the far side of the loch

If you are into wildlife, then it's here. If your joy is in walking, its here, if you want to do nothing - then there is not a better place to that.

Can't wait to return.

Flexible change over date. Normally Friday - Friday or Sunday-Sunday but very flexible.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
