Villa in Almachar countryside, Malaga, Costa del Sol - Beautiful Peaceful Location in Mountains

Casa Katrina is a beautiful, extremely well-built and equipped 3 bedroom villa set in the tranquil and unspoiled mountains of Almachar. The spacious accommodation is open-plan and ideal for large families or perhaps just a couple who wish to laze around and just take in the beautiful and relaxed atmosphere. We have recently added air-conditioning to the main living area for your extra comfort! The house was built in 2006 and comprises one floor affording quick and easy access to all areas. It has a large private pool (8m x 4m) and lots of patio space – perfect for sunbathing and outdoor dining. There are 2 double and one twin bedrooms, a large, modern, well-equipped kitchen and living room, 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) and a utility/laundry room. The villa provides comfortable bedroom accommodation for a maximum of 6 people. A car is essential as the villa is is situated on a non-tarmac track off the main road. Our friendly English family look after the house. Airport pickups available.

I live in Colchester near my family and where I work. We spend most of our holidays in Spain, where we have made many friends and have really fallen in love with the country and its culture.

We love Almachar because of the wonderful weather and fantastic views and lifestyle. There are some beautiful beaches just 12 minutes drive away (Rincon de la Victoria, Torre de Benagalbon and Torre del Mar (bit further)). There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Malaga airport approx 40 minutes drive away. The villa is in such a peaceful location and affords privacy and relaxation. When you have had enough sun and swimming, there is a modern air-conditioned shopping centre just 20 minutes away with a wide variety of shops and Almachar village with it's 12 or so bars and restaurants is just 7kms away

We have just come back from a most relaxing 2week holiday from Casa Katrina, everything that we had been looking for in a holiday no hussle and bussle from a busy tourist town just the 4 of us and a villa and pool in the mountains. If you are looking not do do much on holiday except relax then this villa and surroundings are the perfect place to be. We will be recommending this villa to our friends and hopefully be able to come back and stay again. Steve who runs the villa was so helpful always at the end of an email if needed for anything and to give advice on places to go which when you are in a strange country is just what you need.

My ultimate chill-out

I have taken many villa holidays across Europe over the years.

This was my third holiday at Casa Katrina having also visited the previous two years.

This villa ticks the boxes for me for the following reasons:

Under an hour away from Malaga airport

Spacious and comfortable accommodation

Rural location high up in the hills

Very peaceful and off the beaten track - perfect to unwind and chill out

Great pool

Spectacular panoramic views

This is also an excellent base to explore the region - although it is so pleasant we didn't venture far.

I do think that this is a special property and location - so stock up on some good books, tasty food and sun lotion and you won't go far wrong.

I hope to be back soon!

We purchased the villa as it suited our needs totally. There are wonderful views of the mountains everywhere and when you have had enough of sunbathing and swimming, there is an abundance of towns and villages (Nerja, Marbella, Mijas etc) to visit within a relatively short driving distance

Special interest holidays:

The location is ideal for walkers, cyclists (area used for team training for the Tour de France and Tour of Spain), artists or photographers. It abounds with wildlife and beautiful views of the Sierra Tejeda mountains including Mount Maroma.

There are numerous signposted walking routes within the Almachar area


Beach is approx 25 mins drive (Torre del Mar). Very safe and sandy beach with lots of bars and restaurants nearby.


Malaga airport is approx 40 mins drive. Car hire is essential as the villa is quite remote and situated 2km along an untarmac'd track.


Main town of Almachar is 12 mins drive from villa.

From the Owner

The 2 km track that leads to the property was upgraded to concrete by the council, 2 years ago. This has much improved access to both the villa and a local beach. The property is maintained by my brother-in-law Steve Harding, who lives only 4 Kms away. He is usually available via the phone and email and responds rapidly for issues / queries / advice regarding either the villa or surrounding area (market days / fiestas / shopping centres etc).
