Three bedroom luxury villa, sleeps six, on the Caribbean's leading golf and holiday estate

White Palms is a luxury 3 bedroom house with its own pool, situated on the Royal Westmoreland Golf and Country Club. Luxuriously appointed and well-kept, it is one of the Royal Villas in a spacious 'horseshoe' of villas around a 25m common pool area with well-maintained and verdant gardens. The villa has sea views and is in a tranquil and peaceful setting. The 2,500 square feet villa is superbly furnished and spacious. There are 3 en-suite bedrooms (2 doubles/1 twin) sleeping 6. The open plan living area is on the first floor with kitchen, dining area and sitting room. There are TVs in the living area and each bedroom, broadband connection, Wifi and Bose speaker system. Balcony has dining area and general seating with fine views over the Caribbean, communal pool and gardens. Terrace has private pool, sun beds and dining area. Maid service five days per week. Access as guest to Royal Westmoreland facilities as we are full members of Royal Westmoreland.

About Bob Critchlow

We live in Surrey and have grown up twin daughters who enjoy joining us at Royal Westmoreland. We usually spend around 10 weeks a year in Barbados. We have made some good friends there and really enjoy the facilities, especially the golf course, clubhouse, rum shake and beach facility. We have built up a library of books and DVDs which we are very happy to share with our guests. To celebrate special occasions we love dining out at one of the amazing local restaurants. And we've discovered some wonderful experiences - Sunday lunch at Lancaster Great House, Hunte's Gardens and St Nicholas's Abbey.

Why Bob Critchlow chose Saint James

We were attracted to Royal Westmoreland because of the security and the facilities on offer - including world class golf, tennis, spa and beach club. Nearby there are many wonderful restaurants, excursions and facilities such as supermarkets. And the Bajans are such friendly people.

What makes this house unique

Our house is one of very few at this price range with a good sized pool; in addition to a lovely large communal pool close by.

The villa's position is ideal - being able to use the private pool (which our children did daily) as well as the large communal pool (a stone's throw away) was perfect and the situation of the site itself is great for exploring the island. We saw monkeys in the trees nearby and lizards on the walls - my children were enchanted.

The villa itself is immaculate - the daily housekeeper, Kimberley, was very friendly and worked hard to ensure the villa stayed beautiful. She even washed our clothes and we have returned home with a case full of clean washing. The beds are huge and very comfy and the bathrooms are a thing of beauty.

The welcome pack is great - all the basics like tea, coffee, bread, milk etc, which was a good start and meant we could leave shopping until the second day. Holetown is nearby and we visited regularly for shopping, restaurants and the cinema.

Our favourite trips were a meal at Lonestar - we sat by the beach and had a delicious, long lunch while the children paddled in the water (like a mill pond) and played on the beach - highly recommended for anyone with energetic children! We also loved a day swimming with turtles on 'Elegance' which is a catamaran trip run by an ex-pat and her crew - very friendly and just brilliant with our children. Mullins beach is idyllic and getting towels and sunbeds takes a lot of hassle away. The cinema was modern and a good option for any stormy days!

We had built this holiday up to huge heights with the children and I was quietly concerned they would be disappointed - this is one of the few occasions where the dream lived up to the reality and they loved every minute, as did we. They are animal-mad so their highlights included the local wildlife park where we met monkeys, turtles, deer, peacocks and a crocodile.

We had a really wonderful time and our friends, who couldn't make it, are very jealous and keen to book for next year!

Outside: Super south-facing terraced area in Coral stone. Private pool (8 metre). Sunbeds and chairs, dining area for 6. Steps down to common area and short walk to common 25 metre pool (for serious swimmers!). Verdant planting (good for Hummingbirds) including palm trees and bougainvillea. Villa is semi-detached with neighbour set back to the side, good screening. The entire Royal Westmoreland estate is gated with security services. Utility Room: Full washing and drying machines, operated by housekeeper. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Housekeeping service provided five days per week as part of rental. All linen and towels provided. Maid will make beds and clean. Beds usually changed every two to three days. Housekeeper will do laundry if requested. Other: Balcony (accessed from living area) has dining area for 6 and very comfortable seating area. Views over own pool, gardens, common pool/terrace and with sea views. Can sit out every day of the year! Very peaceful and beautiful!

Lovely House, making our holiday even more special

Beautiful Villa, with lots of space. Own pool was great and only 25 meters from the large comunal pool. All rooms had TV's with cable TV and Bob, the owner even had a set of golf clubs which he allowed me to use, to save traveliing with my own

The Villa has a housekeeper, Kimberly who works Monday to Friday (she also came in on her day off for us), she did all our washing as well as keeping towels clean and house tidy. We did not expect this and it was a bonus. My wife was happy to go home with our cases full of clean clothes.

I would definetly recomend this Villa, Bob and the house manement team were superb. They got back to us very quickly with all questions we had

A beautiful villa, wonderfully maintained, in a lovely location, with its own lovely private pool.

Royal Villa 24, is a lovely property, it's well maintained and decorated to a high standard. It is located on the Royal Westmorland Estate so it comes with all the benefits this brings, and it has its own lovely pool. A wonderful place to relax, unwind and recharge. Hole town, the beaches and the wonderful restaurants of the west coast are a very short drive away, so as a location it is very convenient as long as you have a car. A great place to stay, and a villa I would thoroughly recommend.

Stylish, home from home villa

We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Villa. The private pool was a welcome relief from the blazing sun, and the large infinity communal pool is only across the lawned area in front of the villa. We were well looked after by the Housekeeper, Kimberley, and enjoyed eating on the verandah with a G & T nearby! We found the local fish market in Speightstown and if you go down just after 10 am you will be able to take home fish that is caught on the day. You can't get fresher than that! Restaurants in the area are superb, though pricey but if you can do lunch rather than dinner then it's more affordable. We really enjoyed Sunday lunch at Tides in Holetown at a water's edge table! An excellent chilling holiday, with the "odd" game of golf. Lots of repeat guests so that speaks for itself ....... and we hope to be amongst them. Thankyou for letting us stay in your lovely villa.

A wonderful reurn to Barbados to a Villa that is Elegant, Beautiful and Spacious.

My wife and I have visited Barbados frequently for the past 17 years and have enjoyed the freedom of renting a villa in the Westmoreland area for the past ten years rather than staying in hotels. This year we wanted to introduce some of our family to the island and looked for something more spacious than we have been used to, and White Palms looked to be ideal for the five of us covering three generations. On arrival Kimberley the Housekeeper was there to greet us and show us around, and she took care of all of our needs during our stay. We were immediately pleased with our choice of Villa, finding it perfectly matched to our needs and to the description and photographs on the Web-site. There was a very substantial Welcome Food Package that was much appreciated the next morning. The property is spacious throughout, tastefully furnished and maintained in an excellent condition with a particularly large master bedroom looking out onto the private pool, and a very spacious open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area that opens onto a large balcony where we enjoyed breakfast every morning looking out onto the manicured gardens.

We made good use of the Villa's private pool and the large infinity pool just a few steps across the lawn for longer swims.

The property is in a prime location just a few minutes from the main highway that runs from the Airport in the South to the North of the Island and a few minutes drive to the shops in Holetown and the beaches with their normally calm seas of the West Coast including Mullins Bay. Crane Beach on the South East Coast is our favourite beach in all the world about 45 minutes drive. The waves are higher than on the West Coast beaches but more enjoyable if you don't mind being bowled over from time to time. There are a number of top class restaurants within easy reach of the Villa as well as some fast food and take away outlets, and the supermarkets are well stocked. We would recommend hiring a car for getting around and we always collect one from Stoutes at the Airport.

After a day at the beach or exploring the island's many attractions, White Palms is a wonderful sanctuary to return to for a shower, a cup of tea and a sundowner on the Balcony before heading out for dinner.

We very much enjoyed our stay at White Palms and hope to return in the future. We would not hesitate to recommend it for families of all ages.

Spacious and stylish villa in a beautiful setting. Great pool and outdoor area

An absolutely beautiful villa. Bedrooms and bathrooms big and very comfortable. Upstairs lounge, dining and kitchen area is large and light leading out to a spacious balcony. The outdoor area is perfect. Great size pool. Lots of space for dining or lounging. Lovely view and easy access to a bigger public pool. Feels very private. Feels like home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Wonderful relaxing two weeks

Back to the cold after a wonderful two weeks in the warm and very relaxing home of Bob And Gigi Critchlow at Royal Villa 24, Westmoreland. What better way to start the year. The villa is a delight with comfortable sitting area, private pool and easy access to a larger swimming pool area across the grounds. It offers a well equipped kitchen and very comfortable sleeping arrangements for 3 couples or a family, lovely veranda to watch the sun go down. The villa is about an hour from the airport (rental car advisable) and close to some wonderful waterside restaurants. Don't miss the spectacular Hunt's Gardens, 20 minutes drive and then cross over to the east coast for lunch at the Atlantis in Bathsheba and back to the villa for a relaxing afternoon by the pool. All in all a fabulous vacation. Thanks Bob for the information you gave us on the area.

The nearest beaches on the Platinum west coast are a few minutes drive away. Guests can enjoy use of the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club at Mullins (a 5 minute drive or high season shuttle bus service from the Royal Villas security gate). The Beach Club features free sun loungers (with sumptuous mattresses), beach towels, safe bathing, an Indulgence Spa, designated parking, on-beach drink service, and the Mullins beach bar and restaurant. Water sports available.


Grantley Adams International airport with its many direct connections is a 45 minute drive. Discounted car rental rates are available through the owners with collection/drop off either at the airport or the villa.


Holetown is only a 5 minute drive away with supermarket, post office, petrol, shops, bank etc. Many of the restaurants on the west coast are only 5-10 minutes drive away. Taxis can be arranged through the security gate. Mullins beach club is also 5 minutes drive. The clubhouse and gym are 2 minutes drive or 10 minutes walk from the villa. Buggies (seat 4) can be hired from Royal Westmoreland for use in the estate. The island is small (21 miles by 14 miles) so all attractions are not far away.

Further Details:

Barbados has some fine restaurants, many right on the beach, ranging from upmarket ones such as the Cliff (regularly included in the World's best 50), Lone Star and the Bajan Blue at Sandy Lane. Within a 10 minute drive from the villa there are probably around 20 fine dining experiences and many less expensive venues. Full details in the villa. In the high season it is best to book the most popular restaurants in advance to secure a beach side table (ask owners should you need advice).

There is tax free shopping for visitors in Holetown or in Bridgetown (30 minute drive). There are many attractions on the island including gardens (such as Andromeda, Hunte's and Flower Forest), Harrison Caves, and several old houses to visit. Again, full details in the villa.
