Apartment very suited to groups with a large communal open plan space for cooking, dining and sitting. Triple sash windows in this room look over Drummond Place gardens and down to the sea. Bedrooms are large, light and beautifully furnished. All bedrooms to the rear of the property meaning no street noise and a peaceful nights sleep.

Main train station and main shopping area 5 mins walk away. Airport bus drop off also 5 mins walk away.

About abbey arkotxa

My husband and I met as students at Edinburgh University and have always loved the city. We moved back to Scotland 2 years ago and now run a small property rental and development business.

We now live on a sheep farm north of Edinburgh with our young family but regularly visit the city to enjoy all it has to offer.

We enjoy finding flats in Edinburgh that we know to be in excellent locations and which we enjoy staying in ourselves.

We buy good quality furniture and fittings that we enjoy using and looking at ourselves and strive for very high standards of cleanliness from the firm of professional cleaners we employ.

We started renting to holiday makers in April 09 and have had extremely positive feedback about how lovely our flats are to stay in.

Why abbey arkotxa chose Edinburgh

We have always aspired to own a beautiful Georgian flat in the best part of Edinburgh's the New Town.

We bought this flat in July 2008 and in conjunction with Historic Scotland and a local architect, have carried out a complete renovation, restoring many original features and a sense of grandeur to what was a tired old rental property.

We love the vibrancy of the location - it is just a few minutes walk to George Street, Princes St and St Andrew's Square and all the major Art Galleries and Theatres. In spite of the central location it is a very peaceful flat as it looks on to Drummond Place Gardens.

What makes this apartment unique

Broughton Street is a minute's walk from the flat and is crammed full of lovely restaurants, cafes and bars which are open throughout the day.

The best feature of our flat has to be the large open plan area. To achieve this we knocked a wall down and now have 3 large sash windows that let in the morning sun and give wonderful views across the gardens and the New Town. This is great space to socialise and relax. The bedrooms are all to the back and top of the flat which means they pick up all the afternoon sun and are far removed from any street noise. Enjoy!

Very spacious,light and airy, warm, beautifully presented and clean. Bedrooms have no traffic noise

We have just spent christmas and new year in this lovely apartment and had a superb time brilliant that the bedrooms face the back gardens and so no traffic noise at all, it is well kitted out,dishwasher came in so handy for 6 of us, everything looked very new and not at all run down or tired.The christmas tree had even been put up for us on arrival ! Lovely family apartment and so close to all that's "happening " in this lovely city. We all agreed we chose the best! Thank you

Great stay, everything we needed. Short walk to city centre with lots of Restuarants and shops near.

Lovely flat, very spacious.

Decor lovely. Appreciated toiletries and fluffy white towels and comfy beds.

Singing kettle too.

Easy to find, only 5 - 10 minutes walk to George St and beyond.Great location.

Comfortable flat, within walking distance to city center

Walking distance to old town/city center, there was plenty of space for the 5 adults. The beds were comfortable. Abbey was great to work with. She responded quickly to any questions we had.

Great location and well equipped.

The apartment was in a great location and was very well equipped.

Really easy to collect keys and drop off at end of stay. Worked really well as I was travelling with a friend and we had our four sons visiting the festival. Lovely large lounge dining area which was a great place for us all to hang out at the end of the day.

Only comment would be that single beds felt very small.

Lovely flat , great location

Great flat in New Town

Property was wonderfully equpped, bright, and spacious. Note that it is top floor flat without a lift, so you will need to haul baggage by hand. Fastest wifi we have ever had, which is important for our kids.

It was a solid 10 minute uphill hike to Waverly, so don't underestimate Edinburgh's hills! Within 5 minutes of several coffee shops and pubs. We had a nice Sunday roast beef dinner at the Cumberland, only a block away.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay and the wifi. I'm afraid Edinburgh and indeed most of Scotland, is hilly. There's not much to be done about that. To be fair it is only 5 mins uphill to St Andrew's Square then once you go across the square (on the flat) it is then downhill to Waverly.
