About Mrs Helen Hempsall

We are semi retired farmers and apple growers and have a Heritage Apple Orchard of over 350 different varieties which is open to the public during October each year. We try to spend as much time as we can in our house on the Quinta and have tried to furnish our house "home from home" for comfort.

Mrs Helen Hempsall purchased this villa in 2008

Why Mrs Helen Hempsall chose Figueira

We have had a property in Quinta da Aldeia for 20 years. We found the development on a chance trip down to Cape St Vincent and had a puncture on the bridge going out of Figueira (that was before the village was by passed and the village street was the main road!). We fell in love with the old world charm. In 2008 we sold our 2 bedroom house and bought our present larger 3 bedroom house number 19. The fact we stayed on the Quinta is testimony to everything we have said about the area is true. Our little corner of paradise. As a family old and young, we all enjoy being there. From Faro to Figueira in just over the hour and then to our favourite restaurant in Salema for lunch on local seafood. What could be better! Away from the crowds but easily accessible to excellent facilities.

What makes this villa unique

You could stay all day in the property and just take in the wonderful views and enjoy the sun without feeling bored. Just pop to the pool for a dip when you need to cool down, or walk to the village and indulge in the traditional houses and cobbled, narrow streets.

Everything is at hand in the property. Well equipped and well serviced by the management team. You will feel secure that any problems can be solved with just a phone call to our property supervisor.

What I am trying to say is - you are not in a resort, you are in a modern house on the edge of a very traditional Portuguese village where the local people are so friendly and helpful.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sept. 2012 We did indeed have a wonderful time at Casa Chrisinga "our holiday home" as young Josh called it. House design and set up is a joy.The bedrooms on the lower floor to the sitting dining balcony areas on the upper level work a treat. Watching the world go by whilst sipping a glass or two was effortless.

The outside lounger area is a sun trap and vast enough for grandson to play around.

pool and surrounding area just delightful. Everything worked a treat and have no complaints or thoughts on improvement. it is very well equipped.

Thanks for the memories!! Shall be in touch.

An excellent option in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

The property was immaculately clean and exactly as described. Communications with the owner was exemplary, we felt very taken care of. The rooms were large, and well appointed, the kitchen contains everything you would expect plus a bit more. Our favourite aspect of the property was sitting out on the top terrace watching the sunset. Makes for very happy holiday! The location of the property is great, its pretty quiet at night and you are quickly in Lagos which suited us.

The only thing to note, there is no air con in the property which we knew in advance and generally the property stays pretty cool and fans are provided in all rooms which really help. The swimming pool is heated but is still pretty cool, too cold for our baby but fine for our preschooler. It's a lovely facility which we used everyday. You can't park in front of the property but can load and unload, which we did daily without issue. It didn't bother us even with all our family paraphernalia! We potentially could have done with a safety gate at the bottom of the spiral staircase as well as the top but this was a very minor point. Overall we had a lovely time in this home and would recommend it.

Perfect Algarve spot

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here did not disappoint, we have stayed at Quinta D'Aldeia a number of times and this house lived up to great standards set in the past.

The location is perfect for whatever kind of holiday you want. It is perfect for a lazy, do nothing kind of holiday but equally on the doorstep of some fantastic surfing beaches.

Thank you Helen for letting us use your lovely home.

A favourite family destination!

  • 5 of 5

Our last visit was in the Summer of 2014 where we spent a wonderful 10 days with Family. My two boys aged 10 and 12 loved the pool, local beeches, and near by golf course and tennis courts.

The villa was well equipped and had everything that we could possibly wish for and more. It was extremely clean, comfortable and spacious.

My favourite spot had to be the top terrace, where you can enjoy the panoramic views, Algarve sunshine and soak up the peace and tranquillity all from the comfort of your own villa. Thank you for a wonderful stay.We will definitely be back :O)

Owner's Response: It is so satisfying to receive favourable comments about Casa Chrisinga and our little development Quinta da Aldeia and to learn that our guests have really had a relaxing and happy holiday. Our little corner of the Western Algarve thankfully still retains its' old world charm despite increasing popularity but we do have the benefit of being situated within the Costa Vincentia National Park.

A real home from home

  • 5 of 5

We dot not usually write reviews (well actually this is our first ever) but felt that it was time to write about this beautiful property. We have been fortunate enough to visit this property on four occasions at various times since 2010. It is always immaculately clean, extremely well equipped (think of everything you may need and then add lots of extras!), very comfortable and so relaxing. We never tire of taking in the lovely rural views from the upper balcony and spacious terrace which is a real sun trap too. The pool and surrounding gardens, which are very well maintained, are always spotlessly clean. The village of Figuera is delightful with a couple of good places to eat, and the nearby neighbouring resort of Salema offers an excellent choices of restaurants. The owner's enthusiasm and love of the area is reflected in the standard of accommodation and quality of information/advice provided. It's a perfect base to visit the beautiful Western Algarve area. We really hope to visit again and can genuinely recommend this lovely place for you to enjoy.

A real find

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 3 teenagers have just returned from an amazing holiday in this gem of a villa. The house worked so well for us with the bedrooms being a good size and beds that were very comfortable. The whole house was very clean, tastefully decorated and felt like a loved home. The swimming pool was gorgeous and we had it to ourselves on many occasions. The view from the terrace was amazing, watching the sunset with a glass of wine was perfect!

We fell in love with the Western Algarve and the beautifully unspoilt beaches and would love to come back to the villa again so that we can explore some more.

Thank-you to Helen for making the whole booking process easy and for the Welcome pack (that really was welcome as we arrived in the early hours of the morning and had starving boys!)and would heartily recommend your villa to anyone.
