Village House With Stunning Terrace With Bespoke Jacuzzi And Breathtaking Views

Updated: 19-May-2015
House in Alcaucin, Costa del Sol (Inland), Spain - White Washed Village With Its Fountains Adjoining The Axarquia National Park

A traditional terraced property in the heart of the traditional white washed village of Alcaucin. Three terraces and a court yard you can always find the perfect place to relax whether it be in the giant deck chairs, day bed, hammock, or bespoke jacuzzi. Take in the views down the valley from the top terrace reaching into the fridge or whilst cooking on the gas bbq and hobs. Being 50 minutes from Malaga airport or 1 hour 15 mins from Granda. 25 mins from the beaches of Torre Del Mar. There is plenty of walking, mountain biking in the National Park which neighbours the village. Or stroll down to the 25 meter village pool with bar and sun loungers. Alcaucin offers a great opportunity to witness traditional Spanish life and enjoy a drink, tapas or meal in one of the 6 bars and restaurants. Or for the more cultural you can pop over the pass to the historical Town of Alhama De Granada and see its stunning gorge and hot springs and much more.

About the Owner

I bought my house in Alcaucin in 2004 on the back of filming in Spain when I fell in love with the area. So much so that within the year I had moved over in. Between work I renovated the house, adding terraces, new bathrooms etc. Unfortunately work commitments mean that I now live in the UK and I can't bring myself to sell the house but hope many other people can enjoy it as much I have and do.

Hello Paul – thanks for a great week in your lovely house. It feels really comfortable and welcoming – you obviously like cooking, eating and entertaining as much as we do! We were really lucky with the weather and got a few good walks in although snow and cloud stopped us getting to the very summit of La Maroma. It was great soaking in the jacuzzi watching the sun go down after a hard day in the hills. We left Lee a not but please say thanks again to him.

I think you might be hearing from us again sometime.

All the best

Thank you for letting us stay in your stunning house all our planned trips seemed to melt away as we eased into village life (great pool)or was that terrace life! That said, the beach and parque national were enjoyed by everyone including Joshua (1 year old), Best regards The Nicholas Family

What can I say.... AMAZING. We had an easy drive from the airport and parked easily in the village. After finding the property, we let ourselves in, dumped the bags and went exploring. Beautifully decorated in the Spanish style. The main bathroom is beautiful mix of modern and the traditional style, the shutters and doors are beautiful and match many of the local properties. After making our way up to the top terrace we started to make plans straight away for a return visit, it was STUNNING.

As tourists we are relatively active and love to explore, however this was a haven and life slowed down to a beautifully relaxing pace. If heading down to the local butchers to gather supplies, awaiting for the fish man to drive by and then cooking on the BBQ in the sunshine, with a mesmerising view sounds like fun, this is the place for you.

Can't wait to return and the next visit we may even venture out of the village. An absolute stunner, thank you Paul

A unique house in a unique village. I was working on a 'Place in Spain' following an eccentric couple from Wales as they tried to find their perfect location they didn't but both myself and the director did. Whilst working in the area I thought I would have a quick look at a house in Alcaucin, a place I had already got to know as it was a easy place to find beautiful images for the programme and a month later I had bought my first and only house. Why did I fall in love? Sea down the road, national park behind with amazing trekking (Mount Maramo over 2000m), lake views, climate, real Spain but with the convenience of the Costa Del Sol, Granada and Malaga airport.

Activity and Interests

Special interest holidays:

For the more energetic there is plenty of walking, mountain biking, canyoning, coastering, motor cross in the Axarquia National Park which neighbours the village.

The nearest beach of Torre Del Mar with its beach bars and water front walks and huge selection of restaurants is about 25 mins drive. As you head up the coast towards and past Nerja there are any number of beaches, coves and beach restaurants to explore.

The nearest airport is the all new Malaga airport with budget flights all over Europe which is a 50 minute drive away or the smaller airport of Granada is a 1 hour 15 minute drive.

Malaga with newly gentrified centre and Picasso museum 45 mins. Granada, with the Alhamabra 90 mins. Alhama De Granada with its spar hotel and stunning gorge, and fantastic architecture 20 mins. Periana, Punet Don Manuel, and many other villages near by. Nerja is 35 minutes.

From the Owner

A real experience of Spain with horses in the street, folk sitting chatting and taking life at a Spanish pace but with festivals every month, a market every week and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. So much to do. Within five minutes horse riding, mountain biking, walking, restauranting, caves. Within 30 mins: beach, hot springs, historical sites, fantastic drives (inc. quad biking), views galore. Around the hour: Malaga and the Ahambra De Granada. That said its hard to beat cooking fresh fish bought from the doorstep (listening for a short sharp toot of the horn from the local fish man in the street) on the barbecue, reaching into the fridge, cooling off in the jacuzzi. Or in the winter coming back from a walk in the park to a relaxing hot jacuzzi and sunset.... happy days!
