About Emma

I have come to love this very special part of Suffolk over the past years. I live in London but visit Southwold whenever I can. Sea Pebbles is my holiday home which I rent out when I cannot be there. I hope you will love being here as much as I do.

Emma purchased this apartment in 2009

Why Emma chose Southwold

I bought Sea Pebbles because I visited the area frequently and love the sea and the variety of walks. And then my friends moved there to run Spots (the post office and toyshop) and so I thought it would be great to have a place there too. And it is only 2.5 hours from north London. And once you are there you don't have to use the car if you don't want to.

Walking in from Reydon to Southwold is so quick and there are a few ways to go; via footpath, down through the marshes or along the road and everyone says hello. Very different from where I live.

I think the pubs and restaurants are great and I love the galleries and exhibitions of art and craft.

What makes this apartment unique

I love the fact that Sea Pebbles is opposite the village shop Barbrooks (Londis) and prices are so reasonable - you don't have to shop for your weekend away or your holiday beforehand. And they do newspapers and even slippers!

When I first saw Sea Pebbles I was struck by how light it was and that it was a tardis. Room for everyone!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for the use of Sea Pebbles it is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. In particular, well admired, the blind with stars, the many games and toys, especially the tea set.

We had very inclement weather some of the time but managed to go crabbing, see seals at Horsey and generally had a happy family time.

Jan and family

Hi Emma, just you let you know, (as I forgot to write in the visitors book!) that we had a lovely time at Sea Pebbles. It is a really lovely flat with a great homely feel to it, I was impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was! I had carted my usual array of utensils and sharp knives and didn't need them!

Many thanks - Sally - Christmas

Car: not necessary

Southwold Beach is less than a mile. It can be reached by a track near the property or via the main road into town. Walberswick is within walking distance via a foot bridge from the Harbour. A foot ferry operates at peak times from Southwold Harbour to Walberswick. Aldeburgh is 30 minutes by car, Dunwich Heath and Minsmere are 15 minutes.

Norwich is just under an hour away. Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings Concert Hall 35 minutes drive. Minsmere RSPB reserve 20 minutes drive. Walberswick 3 mile walk. Orford 45 minutes drive. A car is not necessary as there are enough lovely places within walking distance. If coming by rail the nearest station is Darsham which is a 15 minute drive. There is a service to Darsham via Ipswich every 2 hours from London Liverpool Street. Or Halesworth where a bus may be caught to Southwold.

Further Details:

There is an excellent village store, Barbrooks (Londis) over the road, selling a wide range range of groceries, fresh fruit & veg, wine and newspapers.

There are numerous lovely places to eat and drink in Southwold, Reydon and the surrounding villages. A big attraction must be the numerous Adnams pubs with their excellent local beer.
