About Carole Ford

My husband and I are semi retired professionals. We bought Rainbow Farm about 14 years ago purchasing it when it came up for sale after our family had rented it for two years for our holidays. We use it very much as home and have tried to make it as comfortable and well equipped as our UK home. We frequently take groups of friends from our church for short breaks and our annual family holiday get together takes place every Summer.

We enjoy the house in both Summer and Winter. It's good to curl up, after a good French style meal, with a book in front of the log fire and our grand children love it when it snows. The garden is a delight in Summer and we eat on the terrace whenever possible. La Fermette is my husband's dream of a home and he would like to relocate it to the UK.

Carole Ford purchased this farmhouse in 2002

Why Carole Ford chose Montreuil area

We rented the house for two consecutive years and when it came on the market decided that we would buy it to continue to enjoy it. We We live in Kent so its a quick and easy journey for us to get to the farmhouse. We enjoy quiet countryside and like rural French life without the hassle of a long car journey. Our kids all enjoy being able to get there cheaply and quickly and with a car full of young children there's no stress on the short journey. We are still finding things to do in the area and are never bored.

What makes this farmhouse unique

With a growing family of grand children we enjoy the space of the house and garden. We like to take groups of friends for weekends and for us the journey is so quick and easy. I do not want to spend many hours in a car driving through France to get further south to a crowded beach when the beaches on the coast nearby are fabulous.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sarah July 2012 "We have spent our holidays in gites for more than twenty years, in all parts of France, Yours comes very close to the top of the list for all amenities and comfort, and reasonable proximity to the sea".Adie "My friends and I really look forward to our annual get-together The house is spacious,, a well-equipped kitchen and six comfortable bedrooms. Lots of “extras” have been provided such as games, maps and books, making it very homely. There’s a woodburning stove for cold days and a patio with table and chairs for summer meals outdoors, so it’s always a wonderful setting for a relaxing time away.

from Tony: ...warm (even in early January), spacious and comfortable.

from Liz ...charming, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. An ideal place to relax and recharge. The traditional French village is charming and the rural setting is perfect for a restful holiday. We look forward to a return trip and would recommend it to our friends and family.

Spacious and ideally suited to a family gathering.

  • 4 of 5

We spent a lovely week at La Ferme with our family to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary and to attend the Vimy Ridge Centenary Commemorations. The house is set in a beautiful garden in a very rural and peaceful area and we enjoyed sitting out listening to the birds singing.

Lovely place for a family holiday

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely family holiday in La Ferme.

There was plenty of room for our group of eight and the outside space was fantastic for our two young grandchildren (10 and 5) to let off steam.

The games room upstairs was really useful on the odd grey damp morning.

We enjoyed eating out on the terrace and everyone loved the swing seat.

We had a couple of small problems while we were there and they were solved with a very quick response, which impressed us.

The house us in a lovely area but as it said in the description, it was rural. It would have been nice to be able to walk to a boulangerie. But we were aware of this, so not a criticism.

We visited Merlimont beach a few times, it was a beautiful beach with life guards. We really enjoyed the Fishing Museum at Étaples where we could stroke the fish! The Fish market was also fantastic. We also visited Nausicaa, buying tickets online before we went was a good idea, not only are they discounted and you miss the queues, but they are valid for one month from the day you order them.

All in all a holiday to remember.

Lovely family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We booked both property's to enable my 2 daughters & their families to spend some quality time together with us. There was 6 adults & 5 children.

Our holiday started with a few delays in Dover but we expected it as it was just after the terror attacks in Manchester & London, it didn't spoil our adventure as we had planned for the delays lots of DVD's for the kids & a picnic while we sat in the queue. We actually caught an early ferry than we had booked on so all good. Once on the other side we had no problem straight off the ferry & on our way to the Farmhouse.

The directions we were given by Carole ensured we arrived at our destination without a hitch.

The property's were as described, well equipped with everything we needed, the only issue we found when we arrived was the amount of cobwebs & spiders we had to get rid of this was only an issue for my daughter as she is petrified of spiders.

There was lots of space for 3 families with 5 children under 10. They ran wild in the very secure garden. We had the weather lots of sunshine & spent lots of time in the well equipped gardens.

We had a lovely holiday in 2 beautiful farmhouses. Carole made sure that we had all the information we needed to get our holiday off to a great start. The houses had everything we needed we loved our week spent in the 7 Valleys.

Owner's Response: We fight a regular battle with spiders as it is an old farmhouse and I am sorry that your daughter doesn't like spiders at all. It obviously did not spoil the holiday and I thank you for the 5 star rating. Children always enjoy the garden and we have worked hard to provide everything that families need - I'm glad we succeeded!

A perfect picturesque Farmhouse!!

  • 5 of 5

I was a little anxious about travelling to France as the press have so many scare stories about trouble especially with migrant gangs. I saw absolutely nothing that was any problem at all.

Rimboval is a quiet village and the garden is a delight to sit and relax in listening to bird song (with a glass of wine!) We stayed in La Ferme for a long bank holiday weekend and it was ideal for a large group of friends. The owners have worked hard to provide an excellent standard of fittings and equipment and there was nothing we lacked.

I have no hesitation in recommending Rainbow Farm and hope to go again soon!

We would happily welcome you back on another occasion to enjoy a glass of wine or even two in the garden.

First class

We stayed at Rainbow Farm over a long bank holiday weekend and found it to be very clean and comfortable. We have visited on a previous occasion and the owners obviously work hard to constantly improve the quality of the house. The area is delightful, peaceful and quiet and ideal for simply relaxing with friends and good food. I am looking forward to another visit

Beautfiul relaxed setting in a comfortable home fr

  • 5 of 5

The property is well suited for large groups. We had 12 and never felt crowded. The house is well equipped with plenty of seating. It has a large garden and lovely countryside to walk through. It was clean and fresh linen was provided.

It is located close to many attractions and ten minutes from a good local supermarket.

We have been twice and fully intend to return for a many more visits. I would certainly recommend it and being an hour from the channel tunnel it is easily accessible.

Owner's Response: Thanks for this great review and we look forward to welcoming you in future years. It is so good to get repeat bookings - it shows us that we are getting most things right for our guests. The easy access through the tunnel makes it a great location for families who do not want long journeys through France.
