Villa in Campo Mijas, Costa Del Sol - Apologies, no stag, hen or student parties please.!

Tambo Del Sol is a traditional Andalucian villa which has been renovated to an extremely high standard. It has an infinity pool, manicured lawns, spacious terrace areas, with outside lounge, dining area and BBQ. The interior of the villa has been decorated in a contemporary minimalist style, with a vast open plan lounge, dining room, kitchen, and atmospheric lighting throughout. Perfect for stylish entertaining it has 4 double bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge/ dining room, kitchen /breakfast room and utility room. TV and DVD player, internet and i phone dock music player. It is situated between the old town of Mijas and Fuengirola with their fabulous shops and restaurants. Near by are Cabopino, Elviria, Marbella and Puerto Banus, with beautiful beaches and more great restaurants, all within 30 minutes drive. That makes this villa perfect for going out or staying in. For golfers Mijas Golf course is 10 mins, La Cala is 20 min, and for Tennis there is Lew Hoad centre 10 mins away.

About Alison Tindall

We bought the almost derelict villa in 2007 primarily because of it's elevated position on the campo and it's breathtaking views. We then spent the next two years lovingly restoring and modernising the villa, with the aim of providing a perfect holiday home for family and friends. We re-built the villa to our taste personal taste, which has resulted in it being contemporary and quite minimalist but keeping some original features of a Spanish finca. We've also made sure it's easy and comfortable to live in. We live and work in London, so love coming here with friends and family to relax. The villa is the perfect entertaining home and we really enjoy bringing friends over who marvel at the views and sheer beauty of it's aspect.

Notes on accommodation: Air-con and heating throughout. Fully alarmed inside and out. Outside: A spectacular approach to the house up terracotta steps with views of the mountains and coast, lead to large Spanish double doors and into the open plan hallway. The outside living space with its breathtaking 360 degree day and night time views over Fuengirola extend out to sea and then continue round and up to Mijas and its spectacular mountains. It has a 15 metre terracotta covered terrace which runs the entire width of the villa. It has a large gas BBQ and a dining table that seats 14 and a lounge area with sofa and chairs. Poolside there are 8 sun loungers, a table and chairs to seat further 6, manicured lawns with tropical plants, shrubs and fruit trees. There is a fabulous infinity pool 10mx3m depth 1.25mx2m with steps. Spectacular bespoke lighting allows you to create the perfect evening ambiance for any mood. There is also a lower terrace, offering a nice alternative place to relax away from the main pool area. There is an outside shower by the pool. Utility Room: Washing machine. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaner on request. (other than changeover days) Indoor bath and hand towels provided. Linen and towel change on middle Saturday for two week guests.

Lovely Villa, good location! Fab View!

We really enjoyed our stay, the Villa was lovely, it had everything we needed, we were very comfortable there. The View was fab and the pool was perfect.

The location of the Villa is great for visits to Fuengirola which is literally a short straight drive and has lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The Supermarkets were easy to find and had a good selection of foods, access to main roads for exploring is good. We would stay again!

Fantastic villa, everything we needed

The villa was fantastic from start to finish. We stayed at the property for 1 week at the beginning of October and it didn't disappoint. It's in a great location, 20-30mins from the airport and with Mijas, fuengirola and Marbella close by there is plenty to do. The villa had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, all finish to a modern standard with high quality appliances. The outdoor area was the highlight for us and where we spent most of our time, it isn't overlooked and the pool areas offers a great sociable environment with beautiful views over to the sea.

Stunning Villa with great views and great owners!

A group of 8 us stayed at Tambo Del Sol at the beginning of September for 6 nights and we had a fantastic time.

Firstly, Alison and Richard were great in the run up to the stay with a comprehensive guide to the villa and local area and were very quick to respond to any questions we had. Richard called the day before we arrived to confirm we had received everything, give us a few helpful tips and wish us a good holiday which was a nice touch!

The taxi driver from the airport had a little difficulty finding the villa (even though we had the directions in Spanish and he had a sat nav!) but the local taxis in Mijas and Fuengirola has no problem finding us.

We were greeted on arrival to show us around and how to use the wifi, pool etc and there were a few beers waiting for us in the fridge!

The Villa really does have the wow factor when you walk in the grand front doors with the large open plan kitchen/living/dining room. Everywhere was clean, beautifully furnished and there was plenty of room for the 8 of us. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious with plenty of storage for clothes etc.

Now for the best bit, the pool and outdoor area is huge and what a view! The pool looks stunning when the cascade is on and has plenty of room for a few people. Its also fairly deep in the one end which was good for swimming. The cascade did stop working after a few days but I think this was due to the water displacement of 8 grown ups jumping in and out of the pool! The patio is also stunning with 3 separate seating areas including the huge table where we had most of our meals overlooking the great views surrounding the villa. There is also a grassy area with lovely greenery and flowers.

Its close to Fuengirola which we walked to on the 2nd day. It was a good walk but nothing to strenuous - although the walk back is hard going and i wouldn't recommend doing this! You can get a taxi into fuegirola for less than 10 euros and it was a little less to the Carrefour supermarket. Mijas taxis arrive in no time at all but you have to call a local taxi on the way back. If you are getting a taxi back from the supermarket, customer services will call one for you.

In Fuengirola we used a couple of the owners recommendations to eat and were glad we did!

Overall we had a great time and just wish we would have stayed longer! Thanks to Richard and Alison for making our stay so relaxing and stress free by being so helpful in the run up and whilst we were there!

Fantastic stay!

Villa Tambo was as beautiful as the pictures! We were a family of 3, but our family of 8 came over and helped us make the most of the villa. The layout was perfect for entertaining and the kitchen fully stocked with everything we needed when cooking for 11! Wifi and satellite Tv was a great bonus for both the younger and older generation. The star of the show, however, was the terrace. This was just perfect for our evening gatherings whilst cooking on the BBQ. The pool and garden area were wonderful for sunbathing, relaxing and playing for the children.

I would highly recommend this villa as its just perfect!

Truly, a special place. Tambo del Sol is remarkable for its views, sense if easy relaxation, being free from being overlooked by any other property and its high quality fixtures and fittings. From the detailed how to get there instructions in advance to help with everything you need once there, the owners make everything as simple as possible for all guests. The infinity pool and garden are both lovely and it's a joy simply to sit outside and admire the view at night. The rooms are also spread out enough to afford privacy. In short, everything you might want for a super relaxing holiday in the sun. Would go again without hesitation.

Location

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The 3km sandy bay of Fuengirola is 10 minute drive away with it's myriad of beach restaurant/bars hiring out sunloungers and parasols, offering water sports, pedalos etc. There are also many interesting beaches to explore up the coast such as La Cala, Cabopino, Calahonda, Elviria, Las Chapas, and finally reaching Marbella. Details of our favourite beaches and how to get there are left in the villa for guests.

Travel:

The villa is 20-25 minutes from Malaga airport. Car hire is recommended although Mijas registered taxis arrive within 5 minutes of being called so it is possible to manage without a car.

Distances:

The historic and picturesque peublo blanco Mijas is 10 minutes drive away offering amazing views to the sea, and the chance to wander round the cobbled streets, buy local goods and choose from the many restaurants and bars. Fuengirola town is 10 minutes drive and is a busy spanish working town with all the shops and restaurants one would expect. Malaga is a sophisticated town with the Picasso museum and Moreish Castle. 30 mins in the opposite direction is all the sophistication of Marbella.

Further Details:

Fuengirola's facilities are extensive, with major banks, branded shops and train station which runs to Malaga and the airport. It has an Accident and Emergency clinic for minor injuries within 7 mins of the house, and there are several Dentists. Restaurants to cater for every taste or flavour. There is a zoo, multiplex cinemas and an Aqua park and 5 shopping malls including El Cortes Ingles, which is 5 mins drive from the villa.
