A 2 bedroom villa with private pool and sea view. Parking space for 2 cars. Peaceful location just a 5-6 minutes walk from the village and restaurant/bar and 800m from a small supermarket. I don't know any other villa for rent that is closer to the village. Nerja and the beaches are only 8km, a 10min drive, away. We try to make this place as eco-friendly as possible. We use solarpanels for hot water.

About Thomas

We are from Sweden and this is our dream house. It's the place where we shall spend our time during the cold Swedish winters when we are retired. I spend already 3-4 months here every winter because there's a lot of maintenance to do as painting, gardening, repairing etc. It took us 20 years before we could afford to buy this land and build the house. We hope you will like the place as much as we do.

Why Thomas chose Axarquia (Costa del Sol)

We want to live in the country side but still within walking distance to the village. The plot does not lean as much as many others do. So the plot is to use better and we love the view from the terrace. We like to wake up to the sounds of birds instead of the sounds from cars, neighbors etc.

What makes this villa unique

I think this is the villa, for rent, that is closest to the village. Only a 6 min walk. This is highly appreciated. The water purifier. Always drinking water from the cold tap in the kitchen. Only 500m on a concrete paved road from the main road that passes through Frigiliana. The water in Frigiliana and south of Spain contains a lot of lime, 37dHº, and therefore we have installed a water decalcifyer. It makes the water very soft so you don't have to use so much soap and detergent which is better for the enviroment. The hot water is produced by solarpanels.

I have stayed in many houses in Frigiliana but I must say that Tejar de Arriba is the most amazing house I've ever seen. We got the feeling of being at home. The cold water tap in the kitchen is equipped with a bacteriostatic water processor designed to remove chlorine, THM's, PCB's and contaminants that effects the taste, odor and color of the water. The water filter is also effective in removal of lead, mercury, chromium, magnesium, bacteria algae, fungi and and other contaminants. US patent. Outside: A big terrace, partly roofed, outside the house with BBQ and garden furniture. Parking space for 2 cars. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. 1 big and and 1 small towel per person. Only for indoor use. Towel and linen will by changed after a week if you stay more then 10 nights. Cleaning on the day of departure is included. Other: Dining furniture in oak for 6 people. Internet on demand. Superb stay with great food

Wonderful location only a 15 minute walk to some superb bars and restaurants. Villa is exactly as described clean, well equipped and an added bonus of 11 hours of sun at the pool.

I have stayed at 2 other villas in the immediate area and this is at the top of the list.

Communication and assistance from Thomas the owner is very good.

Beautiful villa in outstanding location!

We've stayed in many villas and apartments booked through HomeAway and other websites before now, but this is one of the nicest. Everything was clean and well-maintained, the gardens were lovely, the kitchen well-stocked, and the location was brilliant, too - a fairly easy walk into Frigiliana for dinner and a few drinks, and then the bonus of walking home along the track with great moonlit views of this beautiful white village tumbling down the mountain side. Would particularly recommend the restaurant Al Fuente which has fabulous tapas for vegetarians. It's also an easy drive to the coastal resort of Nerja (15-20 mins) where there are many other restaurants and bars - the Jaipur Indian restaurant was a favourite of ours! The temperature heated up to around 28 degrees on our last few days, so the breeze around the pool was particularly welcome! Thomas is very kind and helpful, and we would love to return one day.

"This is the life"

What can I say this place was better than I ever imagined from the moment I picked up the keys till the moment we had to hand them back. The villa was in the most perfect location with the square next to the church an easy 20 minute stroll which was handy on an evening when dining out and having a glass of red (or two). The views over the valley and towards the sea are stunning.The kitchen is very well equipped and off the top of my head I can't think of anything the owners didn't supply plenty glasses, plates, pans, cutlery etc. and all appliances microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer, toaster all in great working order. The property was very clean and well maintained as was the outside terraces and the wonderful pool. Thomas provided a good trouble free service without any problems and was a pleasure to deal with. I did take the advice of a previous guest and took a torch for walking home and this was a great bit of advice as it is unlit. I would certainly recommend Tejar de Arriba to anyone looking for an ideal base to stay in Frigiliana or to explore the beautiful surrounding area so much so that on our return we booked for next year.

I hope I manage to install a new wifi system, 10 Mbs down and 6 Mbs up, before the summer 2017 which will be free of charge and also a lot of UK channels. The villa has everything you require for a wonderful holiday . It is a home from home and dealing with the owners is a dream , would love to visit again . would recommend Lidl in Nerja for all your shopping needs

Beautiful Villa!

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at this beautiful villa. It was equipped with everything you need and was very clean. We walked into Frigiliana every day for supplies and a few drinks or something to eat. There are plenty of very good restaurants. All grocery shops shut for siesta from 2-5pm which is worth noting. As previously said - a torch is a must if walking to/from villa in the dark. We took one after reading previous review. It would be handy to have one at the villa for those who don't take one. We also saw the chameleon - brilliant! I was surprised there wasn't a visitors book or any information regarding restaurants etc. Also a bus timetable would have been handy so remember to print one from the internet. It is only because of the lack of info I have given 4 stars, but would definitely return.

Most relaxing holiday ever

We had a wonderful holiday spending all day at the villa, and walking into the village at night time for dinner. We would usually venture further, to La Herradura and the water park in Almunacer but it was so hot while we were there we were content to spend our time sitting in the shade and going for dips to cool off. The highlight of our stay was seeing a chamaleon walking in front of the villa before climbing up the fence into the olive trees.

For anyone walking into the village at night you will need a torch on the way back.

Our only problem was with no air conditioning it was difficult to sleep, but even the local people were complaining about how hot it was.

Booking Notes:
Payment by bank transfer. First payment, 50%, within 12 days after receiving the confirmation and the final payment has to be on our account latest 50 days before the start of the rental. Change/cancellations of a reservation are free of charge as long as you not have paid the deposit. When the 50% deposit is paid will we repay 50% of the deposit if you cancel when it is more then 60 days left to the start of the rental. If you cancel when it's 60 days or less left to the beginning of the rental period, will no part of the deposit be repaid. The renter pays all costs for the bank transfer.
