Villa in Les Arques, Nr. Cazals, Midi Pyrenees, France - Remote But Not Isolated With Lovely Views Over Rolling Green Hills And Within Easy Distance Cazals.

A combination of old and new, a huge newly built extension on an old stable perched on a hill, and 120sq.m terraces surrounding house and pool. In the house, a relaxed atmosphere due to the high ceilings, many windows and sliding doors surrounding the living/dining room and mezzanine. Built into a rock, it has the wonderful stone walls and lots of very modern details. Master bedroom with en-suite full bathroom in the old part of the house. In the new extension with high ceilings and lots of glass, are 2 bedrooms, 1 with double aspect windows, and they share a bathroom with a shower in between. Separate toilet. The house is well insulated, with double glazing throughout, floor heating in the kitchen and living/dining room with radiators in the bedrooms. Utility room for storage and washing machine. Kitchen with American fridge and breakfast table, gas cooking, oven and dishwasher. Access South terrace with very large dining table and shade. Fireplace. Ipod docking, DVD, 3 Bikes.

About Louise

We are a Dutch family with 3 children of 18, 20 and 22 years old and we also have a dog, a mini french basset hound. We bought the house in May 2008 when the building was almost completed and put a lot of TLC in to make it as comfortable as possible. We love nice things, good food, books and music and we take good care of our living environment. We hope to find tenants for our house, that will take as much care of this house as we do. We are very proud of this house and adore the local area. We thoroughly enjoy being in this part of France, there is so much to see and do!

Both my husband and I are consultants in the private sector and we run, successfully, our own company.

Why Louise chose Les Arques

When we first saw this house, we loved it instantly. It is somewhat different that the usual french property, yet is has that unmistable french country home feel about it. It reminded us of a Californian wood house,with all the windows, high ceilings and open plan living space. We added a Bohemian feel to it with comfortable (design) furniture and nice artifacts.

We love being here, it is so relaxed and peaceful.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The largest part of the house is brand new, so every care has gone into making the house as efficient as possible. The high ceilings and many windows the house makes the house very light and airy and enhances the feeling of being out in the country due to the lovely views on the hills, stream and trees. We have a large patio around the pool with sunbeds and have created a large area in front of the house, near the kitchen, with huge table and comfy chairs and lights. We have planted lots of shrubs and climbing plants as well as a hedge and have put up a fence and gate for even more privacy. We hope it shows on the pictures that the house is extremely well decorated and furnished with good quality (design) furniture to create a luxury 'bohemian' feel. Central heating is available for the colder seasons as well as a fire place. Children very welcome, lots of toys, DVDs and a trampoline with a tent for the perfect holiday. We may take a dog, please enquire, but no cats due to allergy. Outside: The freestanding house is surrounded by several patios with large sun shades and with a huge table and comfortable chairs and sunbathing equipment. There is a covered space for the car. The pool measures 10 x 5m and has a dept of 1.60m (ideal for those ball games!) and has a new 2014 beige liner. It also has underwater lights. Sun beds and hammocks available near the pool, as is a pool gazebo with an outside shower and comfortable seats for reading all those books. There is also a small BBQ. The house stands right in the middle of Parc Naturel Regional de La Masse, on a very quiet little road and the small stream La Masse is just opposite this road, ideal for fishing and butterfly hunting! Lots of interesting birds to watch and you may also see the occasional deer in the garden. There is also a small tent and some inflatable mattresses to play with but also very exciting to sleep a night outdoors. We also have a huge trampoline. 3 Adult bikes. Utility Room: A door from the kitchen leads to the utility room with a washing machine and extra storage space, room for boots and jackets etc. Hot water boiler and central heating system. Door from kitchen leading to outside sitting area at the front of the house. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Quality percale bedlinen and fluffy bath towels are available at 12,50 per person. Please bring pool towels. The house is cleaned on every changeover but we do request that our customers leave the property as they find it. Other: The large mezzanine has sliding doors to an east facing terrace for a breakfast in the morning sun. Door to large south/west facing terrace with sun chairs and sun shades. Library corner with lots of (English) books, games and DVDs. Seating area.

Lovely, sun soaked, private property!!

We stayed at this property in July 2016.... 4 adults and 2 children. It's a lovely house true to it's description inside with even more outside space than described!! Fantastic big pool which caught the sun all day long and a beautiful patio area perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner (we were there during a heat wave!). Louise was very quick to answer any questions I had prior to arrival and sent me a pack FULL of great info on supermarket, restaurant and activity locations. Upon arrival the coffee machine was broken, but the following day the housekeeper's were round to replace it and even change 2 light bulbs for us!! The only negative and hence the 4 not 5 stars was the property didn't have any fans, but with such a big pool we were able to cool off quickly. It's a stunning remote location and as stated a car is needed, but the closest town is 5 minutes away with restaurants and a supermarket. We took a day trip to Bergerac which was within an hours drive and well worth the trip. I would definitely recommend this property if you're looking for a peaceful family break with lots of space! We will be going back that's for sure!

Relaxing place to stay

This was a charming and comfortable house set in a peaceful location but within easy reach of bigger towns and places of interest. The pool is lovely and the house has all facilities you could want. Well maintained and communication with the owner was easy. A lovely area to explore and relax in.

Stunning villa

We stayed here for 1 week last June and apologise for not leaving a review sooner.

This is without doubt the most stunning house we have ever rented. The area is so peaceful and the house is just beautiful. The pool is a great size and we enjoyed swimming every afternoon, once the sun had started to go down. We had so much privacy here, which is really important to us. The house isn't overlooked at all and it was so nice to sit out in the evening until after 11pm (without getting cold!), listening to the crickets and the frogs croaking in the nearby stream.

We hired a car and were able to visit many places during our stay here, including Bergerac, which is a couple of hours away. It's a great house to be able to return to after a long day sightseeing, very large but still cozy and comfortable. It was also really well equipped, with everything we needed for our stay.

Thank you so much to the owners. We travel a lot and have stayed in many beautiful villas, but this beats them all! We wish we lived here ourselves!

Travel:

A20 autoroute from Paris, junction 57, is 20 minutes by car. Lestours is surrounded by the following airports, all of which are approx 1 hour and 15 minutes by car: Toulouse, Rodez and Bergerac. Use of a car is definitely recommended.

Distances:

The nearest village with a lovely restaurant is Les Arques, at 2.5km. Next is Cazals at 5km with it's swimming lake, Sunday market, shops and several restaurants. Cahors is 23km, Gourdon is 28km. There are lots of restaurants in the area, some are indeed worth a visit.

Further Details:

Cazals at 5km has a several bars and a few restaurants. It also has all amenities, including a boulangerie, small supermarket, post office, butchers plus a tourist office. There is also a fishing and a boating lake. Every Sunday morning there is a most wonderful market. The department of the Lot is full of interesting villages and beautiful countryside. Visit the numerous chateaux which produce the famous Cahors wine, canoe on the river Lot or the river Dordogne and admire the fantastic limestone cliffs along the way, take a trip down into the caves of the Gouffre de Padirac or Pech Merle. Buy the local produce of foie gras, walnuts or an abundance of fruit and vegetables at one of the weekly bustling markets. Not to be missed is Les Arques at 2.5 km, a lovely walk as well, with its Roman church and Zadkine museum. The best restaurant of the area is in Les Arques, and within walking distance.

We also own a 1969 Triumph Herald convertible, a fun little car, not ideal for any great distances, but great for visiting all those markets, towns and petit chateaux. For an additional fee of 275,00 per week, we will gladly give you the keys. The car is well insured for additional drives, however, driving this (right hand) car is entirely at your own risk.

Our house is also available for long winter lets. It has central heating and an open fire so you'll be snug as toast! Please contact us.

Changeover Day:
From May till end of September the change over day will always be Sunday. All other months the minimum stay is 5 nights, and the entrance day is flexible, please contact us.

Notes on prices:
Prices are for the property per week in euros. Rental price does include 100,- cleaning costs which is added on automatically, but does not included linen which our care taker offers for rent at 12,50 pp, which includes 2 towels. 1 Dog very welcome at additional costs of 50,-. Deposit 300,- payable with the balance 40 days prior the entrance date of the rental. Winter: heating costs may be added a 3,85 per m3 (meter) Oct - May, if you wish.
