Villa in Seillans, Var, Cote d'Azur - Secluded Location only 7 Minutes Walk to Village

This property is single storey with basement and is situated in the medieval village of Seillans, which was voted one of the prettiest villages in France. The house stands on approx. 1 acre of grounds and is accessed via electronic gates which give great privacy and security. There are many olive and palm trees on the property, as well as oak, mulberry and fig. There is a 12 x 5 mt swimming pool (alarmed) and a gas BBQ. There are 2 terraces, one of which affords magnificent views of the countryside and the second has a relaxing seating area and a view of the pool. Being so close to Lac de St. Cassien provides opportunities for fishing, rowing, canoeing and pedaloes. Watersports are available all along the coast and there are many sandy beaches to choose from. The area has an abundance of wonderful villages to visit and is at the foot of the mountains. Horse-riding is available locally and there are numerous walking trails in the area.

About Catherine Fischer

I live in Dublin with my husband, Jimmy and two teenage daughters. We bought our villa in 2004, updating the property to include a 12 x 5 metre swimming pool and air-conditioning. Until 2009 we did not rent out the house, preferring to use it as much as possible ourselves. Now our girls are older, they spend less time in France and consequently we have decided to rent out the villa. We have been going to France for over 10 years and fell in love with Seillans as soon as we saw it. Our friends and family and the girls friends have joined us over the years and we have many fantastic memories and photos! One of the most memorable is watching fireworks over the Seillans countryside on 14th July.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: The villa is on a large, mostly even, site which is particularly suited to older / younger people who might find more terraced sites difficult. Central heating and air conditioning are both available. The pool can also be heated for an additional charge. Outside: There is a large swimming pool measuring 12 x 5 mts for private use. The pool is fitted with a bracelet alarm system and a heater (at an additional cost). Each bracelet costs Euro90 to replace so care should be taken not to lose/break them. The sunbeds under the parasol by the pool are enough to get one up early. A perfect place for dinner is the large terrace with its magnificent views of the country and Seillans. There is a large table with seating for 6/8 and a gas BBQ. The second terrace overlooks the pool and has a wonderfully comfortable seating arrangement, ideal for reading or enjoying a glass of rose. There is a smaller dining area in the shade of a large oak tree. A table tennis table and bats are provided outside for those who tire of too much relaxation! Utility Room: Utility area in the basement has a washing machine, dryer and ironing equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is presented in immaculate condition for your stay. Towels and bedlinen are included, however beach / pool towels are not provided.

Everything you could want and more.

I can honestly say it was the best house we have stayed in during our last 9 years going to France. The house was immaculately clean. We are two families of 7 our boys are in their twenties now. The house is actually very deceiving from the outside and the pictures do not do it justice. The main living/dining room is enormous and the large screen TV was a bonus for watching the Tour de France. The pool was just perfect for family fun games.

We walked to the local restaurants the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed" La Gloire de mon Père "we went to this restaurant twice.

The house is perfectly located for visiting Cannes, Nice and Monaco.

We tried our hand in the Casino in Monaco and I am happy to say we left with more than we spent.

I can recommend the Folly Too sailing boat in Cannes for a fantastic days sailing this was our 2nd time to do this and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would have no hesitation in going back to this house as it honestly had everything on our list even down to the Ping Pong Table.

Our booking went very smoothly.

Location

Car: recommended

Coast/Beach:

The Mediterranean coastline is only 40 mins drive and you have a choice of great beaches from Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Frejus to St. Raphael. There are many private beaches with fantastic facilities e.g. sunbeds, restaurants, showers, parasols, toilets etc. but equally great public beaches, many of which also have showers and toilets.

Travel:

The villa is less than 1 hr. drive to Nice and 2 1/2 hrs drive to Marseilles airports. Toulon airport is 1 hr 30 mins drive. Cannes, Antibes and the coast are a 45 drive away.

Distances:

The medieval village of Seillans is 7 mins walk with the larger town of Fayence 10 mins drive away. Coast is 40 mins drive and the Lac de St. Cassien is 30 mins drive. The historic town of Grasse is 1 hr 15 mins drive where a tour of certain perfume factories can be taken. Monte Carlo can be reached in 1 hr 20 by car or go to dinner in Italy, a 2 hr drive.

Further Details:

Fayence, a 10 mins drive, is a European centre for gliding and you can get a birds eye view of the area with a 1/2 hr sightseeing tour. Fayence hosts a market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings where a wide variety of items can be purchased. Seillans has a producers market every Wed morning where you can buy some wonderful goats cheese. Seillans also hosts an annual classical musical festival in Aug centred around the villages of Callas, Bargemon, Claviers, St.-Paul-en-Foret etc. to name but a few, most within 30 mins drive. There is a lively arts scene in the area with frequent concerts and exhibitions. The villa is within 10 mins walking distance of a chemist, doctor, grocery, bakery, cafe, 4 restaurants, school, hotel and newsagent. Seillans dates back to 50BC and historic sites of interest include a feudal castle, a 12thC chapel, a 11thC chapel and a Saracen door. The famous perfumeries of Seillans date from 1883 and in 1888 Queen Victoria visited the Vicomtesse de Savigny, founder of the famous perfumery in Seillans.
