One bedroom, great location for exploring town, beautiful rural area and beaches

Gardeners Cottage is a 200 year old traditional Devon stone building, a few minutes level walk from the town centre. Perfectly situated for couples to explore this idyllic rural area of the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The cottage offers free secure off road parking, gas central heating, wood burner, wi-fi.

The entrance door leads into the lounge, with comfy arm chair and sofa, dining table and chairs, 40in 4K smart television, blu-ray player, wood-burning stove, radio. Up one step to well equipped kitchen with door leading to a small gravelled area with seating. Whilst upstairs there is a bedroom with antique style double bed and Vi-Spring mattress and bathroom with shower over bath. Pretty front garden. Lawned area runs along front of cottages.

Gas central heating with wood-burning stove, gas hob, gas oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine, TV with freesat, DVD, radio, Wifi, selection of books, games. Power, starter bag of logs and bed linen all included in rent. Free secure off road parking. Sorry no smoking. Shop and pub 2 mins walk. Beach 5 miles.

This area of south Devon is loved for its rugged cliffs, sandy coves, peaceful countryside, pretty villages, rolling hills, secretive estuaries and dark night skies.

With its unusual geography, the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary is a wonderfully rich haven for wildlife and people alike; from teeming rockpools to seagrass jungles, seahorses and dolphins to the odd basking shark.

About Mike Miller

I moved to Kingsbridge, south Devon from Buckinghamshire, retiring early, fifteen years ago.

I have always loved the countryside and its wildlife and am enjoying living in this beautiful part of England.

Mike Miller purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Mike Miller chose Kingsbridge

The row of cottages were built around 1840 and lived in by brewery and mill workers at the time.

In the 1960s and 70s the cottages were scheduled for demolition, but fortunately saved and now Grade II listed, as can be seen by the original wooden sash windows with the old wonkey glass.

As a consequence, any changes have been done in a sympathetic manner, but at the same time making it a warm, welcoming place to stay.

The cottage has level access to the centre of Kingsbridge (Kingsbridge Quay), just a few minutes walk.

Quaint character cottage

Quaint character cottage in good location close to the town. Clean and tidy with all the amenities you need. Restaurants and bars within easy walking distance as is the Main Street and the estuary. Enjoyed out stay and would not hesitate to recommend.the owner is most helpful with the booking process and easily contactable. Thanks Mike.

We really loved the position of the house.You could sit by the window in the sitting room and watch people walking up and down the lane.It was a lovely quiet corner and close to all amenities.Loved the town square and the estuary.

Old cottage, very comfortable and well equiped

the cottage is well situated on the level in a town that has a steep main street. Parking is well provided for although very restricted close to the property. It was ideal for the two of us with the proviso that we found the stairs very steep for 75year olds

Characterful and comfortable cottage in a great location close to the centre of Kingsbridge. Lovely!

Comfortable cottage full of character and with all necessary amenities. Just to the edge of Kingsbridge, you are just a short walk to the picturesque quay and a fair selection of shops and cafés, pubs and restaurants. Kingsbridge has a nice, vibrant atmosphere - enough going on to make it interesting but quiet enough to be an enjoyable, relaxing break. A good central location to explore the beautiful South Hams area.

Ness Cove, Shaldon – A secluded, rugged beach backed by dramatic red cliffs and accessed via an original smugglers tunnel. Children will love it.

South Milton Sands - A beautiful beach for a traditional holiday, ideal for rock pooling and beachcombing, it’s also the perfect location for snorkelling, scuba diving and windsurfing. Seal and dolphins are regular visitors to the shore.

Teignmouth - A long, family friendly beach overlooked by the impressive Victorian pier, with large children’s play area, skate park and crazy golf nearby.There are plenty of great beaches in close proximity. South Milton Sands is a 15 minute drive away (free parking for National Trust members) and one of the best places to catch a sunset. Slapton Sands is 20 minutes away and features a 1.5 mile stretch of spectacular coast and The Start Bay Inn, serving amazing fish and chips. Kingsbridge is a bustling market town all year round. There are two supermarkets (Tesco and Morrisons) and a selection of independent food shops on the high street. The very popular Crabshell Inn is situated on the edge of the quay and only a few minutes walk away. The award winning Maha-Bharat Indian restaurant is always busy. The Old Bakery is a lovely setting with great tapas. The Reel is a quaint cinema at the top of the high street showing the latest releases and you can have a glass of wine! Quayside Leisure Centre is in the centre of town and features a 25m swimming pool. Harbour House is a centre for arts and yoga with a vegetarian Café, located in the centre of town. The pretty Recreational Grounds in Kingsbridge have two tennis courts available for a small fee. During the summer there is a busy Sunday car boot sale on the edge of the Quay. The estuary is very popular for stand up paddle boarding, with hire and lessons available at The Crabshell Inn

Other local places of interest include Salcombe which is 5 miles away. Located on the mouth of the Kingsbridge estuary it features beautiful beaches, stunning coastal scenery and walks. You can also take the ferry from Kingsbridge to Salcombe (seasonal). Dartmouth is 15 miles away and known for its strong naval heritage, tudor buildings, castle and art galleries. Totnes is 10 miles away and has great independent shopping on the high street and the lovely Dartington Hall Estate.
