About us: Margaret is a trained junior primary school teacher and has lived in Italy for the last 20 years and moved to Cortona with her husband Maurizio and two boys, Thomas 14 and Elliott 12 nine years ago. When not playing mum, she is busy in the greenhouse or creating beautiful photographs. Maurizio, Italian born and bred divides his time between Tuscany and Milan where he is a successful advertising photographer and film director. Thomas is 14 years old and passionate about fast cars. He goes to the school in Australia. His little brother Elliott who is 12 years old loves computer programming and mine craft! We are all completely bilingual in Italian and English.
Margaret purchased this farmhouse in 2005
Welcome to our home. Having become tired of the city and smog filled air of Milan we began searching for a better way of life for our children and ourselves 9 years ago. We stumbled on this property and instantly fell in love with it! The property probably dates back to the 1100s with the newest part being built in the early 1800s. The house would originally have been built by the farm workers who were under the power of the land owner who lived next door (evident by the tower on our neighbours house). We have been told that our home housed 30 people in the early 1920s as well as a barn under the house for the animals. The land was let completely go after the second world war when many farms in Italy were abandoned for the lure of easy work in the cities.
Our little farm offers a respite from the bustling Tuscan towns that surround us. The benefits of being at 650m above sea level means that the nights are always cool, no matter how hot the days are. Our 24/7 presence means that we are always on hand for advice about what to see and where to go and "how to say in Italian" as well as for any questions or problems that you may have.

I cannot recommend this property enough! The farm is located in the Tuscan hillside, near Cortona and is great for families or anyone who wants to relax in the countryside. There's a pool, trampoline, swing-set, treehouse, and all other gear needed for kids with young kids. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and Margaret and Maurizio could not be nicer hosts. We recently stayed there with our five year old and 7 month old. Both kids were exhausted when we arrived after our long plane ride from the U.S. and we forgot to swing by a grocery store, which is a bit of a drive from the location. Maurizio actually went grocery shopping for us and Margaret brought a plate of dinner for them while they waited. The two of them and their family are so incredibly welcoming and generous - we can't wait to stay there again!
We are two Australian couples in our sixties who spent 4 nights at this lovely property. The property is not too far from Cortona and the drive is very scenic. We love Cortona but find the busyness of the place becomes a little too much so it was lovely to come home each evening to our tranquil property. The apartments are fitted out with everthing you need and Margaret is on hand for anything else you might want. In fact we needed some information we had left behind in our apartment while on a day trip to Florence and a quick call to Margaret and the information was text back to us. There are lots of outside areas to sit and enjoy the views, to enjoy a vino or have a BBQ. The property is ideally located for day trips to surrounding towns. We drove to Assisi one day. Drove into the train station near Cortona another day and caught the train to Florence. A car is essential if staying here. We would highly recommend this property especially to any Australians visiting this beautiful part of Tuscany. The owners were so helpful and they made sure our stay was memorable.
Fantastic place up in the mountains. Lovely surroundings and well equiped apartment. Rural and authentic.
As soon as we drove down we were immediately welcomed by Margaret who is the owner and she immediately made us feel at home. She wanted to know if we had any questions or desires.
When we opened up the front door we were in awe of how gorgeous the cottage was. It was absolutely one of the cleanest properties we have ever been in and furnished as nice as it could be.
The accommodations were plush and comfortable. We cooked breakfast daily and found that they stocked our kitchen with coffee and other niceties that added to our experience.
Margaret and her husband is delightful and respectful.
We were treated with utmost respect and given our privacy.
At night when the sun was going down we would love to sit on our porch overlooking this wonderful scenery and the mountains and Valleys in the foreground gave us a perfect reason(not that we needed any) to open up another bottle of wine.
We came back from this enchanted Farm house cottage and we are still on a high. If you are travelling to this part of the world I can only add that this will enhance your vacation in a way you cannot imagine so close to everything with host that will assist you in anyway possible
What a fantastic place! James and Maddie loved playing with Punch the dog and patting the baby chicks. The little wooden bunk bed in the only bedroom was ideal for the kids (I was worried that we would all be on top of each other, but it worked out perfectly). The fresh produce that Margaret brought us from her vegetable garden was incredible. Very kind owners and a beautiful place. Highly recommended
