`Montenegro is Wonderful!

Montenegro is a wondeful place to visit and this apartment was perfect for our needs. Apartment is comfortable, with all amenities, a balcony overlooking the Bay of Kotor and a pool with loungers. Would definitely return. Thanks to the owner and staff for a wonderful stay!

Great Apartment!

We had an absolutely brilliant stay here last September. Lovely apartment, incredible view, very comfortable, good sized pool. Kotor town is very accessible by taxi or a 15-20 minute walk. There are local restaurants a few minutes walk. Thanks Laurie, for all your information and help, we hope to come back again next year!

Apartment B5 in Kotor View is a lovely apartment. It is clean and well equipped with plenty of hot water and fantastic views. Sitting on the balcony with breakfast watching the sun appear from behind the mountains whilst a huge cruise ship docks in front of you in quite a sight to behold!

The complex is very clean and well maintained. The pool is unheated. The are lots of steps down from the car park to the complex and the steps again up to the apartment.

The owner of the property was easily contactable and the booking/ payment was easy. Getting hold of the complex manager was difficult though. Luckily the previous occupier (who we bumped into by accident) let us into the property and we emailed the manager to let her know what time we were departing and where we would leave the key. Other guests reported a similar situation also. You will need basics such a loo rolls, soap, dishcloth etc. as these are not supplied.

Finding 'Kotor View' is quite tricky - there are no signs from the main road and the access road to the property is steep, unlit and just virtual dirt track in places. The property is in Muo which is just on the outskirts of Kotor and it takes about 20-30mins or so to walk either way into town (uphill on way back). Walking and driving this road can be quite an unnerving experience - the locals cope with both of these activities very well, but as Brits we are used to pavements and slowing down for pedestrians and on-coming vehicles - not a something the locals do (and neither do they put dogs on leads).

Montenegro is a beautiful place - a car is a definite must to get out and about sightseeing. We went to monasteries, mountains and to the beach. Food is reasonably priced and good quality. Supermarkets are plentiful and well stocked and prices slightly lower than the UK generally. Fuel again is slightly lower priced and all the garages charge identical prices.

The town of Kotor is beautiful and full of atmosphere - you walk on ancient marble streets down alleyways that ooze history.

On a mountain road we saw two dead dogs dumped by a roadside and there are tiny, scrawny cats everywhere. If you are animal lovers, this can be quite a downer.

Porte Montenegro is well worth a visit. Not only to jaw-drop at the ?50million yachts, but also visit the up-market shops and restaurants and go on-board 'Hero' - a submarine built in 1961.

We flew to Dubrovnik airport and this is an easy drive to Montenegro.

Coast/Beach:

Kotor View is elevated, on the second line to the waterfront on Kotor Bay. There is a pebble beach 5 minutes drive from the apartment. Within 15-30 minutes drive, there are numerous fine sand and pebble beaches, including famous Jaz Beach (site of Rolling Stones and Madonna concert), and access to the open Adriatic coast.

Travel:

Tivat Airport is 10 minutes away (over the mountains so no noise), Dubrovnik Airport is 70 kms, approx 1 1/2 hour drive along an attractive coastal road (allowing time to cross the border). Car rental is recommended if you want to explore the surrounding area, although reasonable transfer by taxi can be arranged, and local taxis are very cheap (we have several English speaking taxi drivers we use regularly).

Distances:

The UNESCO heritage pedestrianized old town of Kotor, with its winding narrow cobblestone streets, is a 20-25 min walk. By car, there are numerous beautiful villages and towns within a 2 hour drive, including Sveti Stefan, the choice resort for the rich & famous; Perast, the unspoilt, Venetian town overlooking the picturesque monastery of Gospa od Škrpjela (Our Lady of the Rock), set on its own island and Budva, the racier, vibrant town right on the beach.

E-mail for additional photos! Climate in the area is warm and dry in summer and mild and humid in winter. In July and August, the average temperature is 25°C. Car hire is helpful for accessing the many attractions and activities within driving distance, but not necessary. The euro is the local currency; the many banks in town have exchange facilities.

An information pack gives further details about the areas and recommendations for restaurants, etc, as well as local helpful contacts. An English speaking managing agent will meet you on arrival to show you around and will be available throughout your visit to assist with all your needs. A welcome pack can be arranged for 25 euros, containing bread, ham, tomato, pasta, water, wine, butter, cheese and fruit, particularly useful if you arrive late in the evening. A small local food shop and a charming restaurant are located nearby on the waterfront, accessed by steps. With only eighteen units, the setting is private, friendly and safe. The majority of guests at Kotor are families and couples, who often come together in the evening for a group barbeque or drink. Outside: Landscaped grounds are for the exclusive use of residents. Includes a large swimming pool (rare in the area) with terrace and sun loungers, large lawn area (with plenty of space for kids to play), a beautiful covered barbecue area (built in barbecue) with loads of seating, and a private car park.
