Fabulous holiday home

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday with our 3 teenage children. This house is ideally located for exploring Brittany. The house is modern & open plan downstairs, it has all mod cons, including very comfortable beds & fantastic bathroom facilities. The owners family were really helpful during our stay, with plenty of suggestions for great places to visit.

I would highly recommend this property. Thanks for letting us share it for our holiday

ideal location

We have enjoyed our stay in Lanhouarneau. The gite is well maintained, comfortable and in a quiet location in the village. The owners are very helpful, kind and efficient.

Lanhouarneau is near Lesneven, an attractive town with shops and large supermarkets on the edge of the town.

This area of Finistere has a special Breton atmosphere. The coast is only 15 minutes by car where there are sandy beaches, spectacular rocks and beautiful walks by the sea. There are menhirs, chapels and lighthouses.

We visited the restored fishing village of Meneham. There is a small museum about the history of the area, the fishermen and the seaweed gatherers. There are craft shops and a good auberge.

The gite is only half an hour from Roscoff and the ferry to Plymouth,England if you use this route, so it is in an ideal location.

comfort in the country

A peaceful pretty location, well placed for the ferry and visiting other parts of Brittany.

The house was very spacious with a huge enclosed garden and patio, making it safe for families with children. It was well-equipped with everything you could possibly need on holiday, comfortable beds and light and airy.

Restaurants and supermarkets were a short drive away and Lesneven has services you may need (pharmacy, dentist...)

I would thoroughly recommend it to all families or groups of friends for a quiet relaxing holiday. The owners were really helpful and friendly and responded very promptly to all emails. We would love to come back - you can't have a better recommendation than that!

Activity and Interests


The beaches on the north Brittany coast are a 15 minute drive. Keremma (the closest) offers several miles of dunes and white sand and is a nature reserve. Porsmeur is just slightly further and part of Plouescat but offers facilities and restaurants. Travel along the coast in either direction and take your pick of secluded bays and fishing villages, or more popular beaches like Santec, Cleder and Roscoff, that have more facilities.


Ferry – Roscoff is a 20 minute drive from Lanhouarneau. Brittany Ferries offer sailings to Plymouth and Ireland. Airport – Guivapas airport, Brest is a thirty minute drive on the N12. Regular flights to and from Luton, Southampton, Exeter, Manchester, Dublin, Birmingham, Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Toulon.


Car hire is available. Please contact owner for details. Motorway: The N12 (toll-free) is 20 minutes to the south of Lanhouarneau. Train: Closest stations are Brest, Landivisau or Roscoff. The closest TGV connection is at Rennes.

Further Details:

The north Breton coast offers a range of beaches and bays, surf beaches, horse riding and cycling are on offer locally and there are numerous golf courses. The Ile de Batz is a short, passenger ferry ride from Roscoff and bikes are for hire to cycle around the island which has few vehicles. The house is equi-distant between the cities of Morlaix and Brest. Brest is an ancient, naval port with historic ramparts and also has the Oceanopolis aquarium. Every four years it hosts an international, tall ships event. Morlaix is also an ancient walled town, with a viaduct and port that dates back to the roman era. The town has shops, boutiques and plenty of restaurants to try local delicacies like fish, crepes and cider.
